Arthur's Stone, sometimes known as King Arthur's Stone or Maen Ceti, is a Neolithic burial tomb dating back to 2500 B.C. and was one of the first sites to be protected under the Ancient Monuments Act of 1882.
Perched upon a set of pointed supporting stones, the capstone is a 25 ton quartz conglomerate boulder, measuring an almighty 4 metres by 2 metres and 2 metres depth. However, previous to 1693 the boulder was much larger than this, until an incident knocking more than 10 tons of it to the ground in a clean break. Nobody is sure how this almighty event took place, but many theories exist. Some say that a miller attempted to remove a chunk of the rock to make a new millstone, but that the piece proved too heavy to move. Others suggest it was struck by lightening during a violent storm or that St. David, the Patron Saint of Wales, himself split the stone with his mighty sword in defiance of the Druid worship centred around it. Whatever the cause the broken part can still be found alongside the monument, demoted to the ground.
The 17th century rector of Cheriton Church, the Venerable John Williams, was first to document the stone's common name, Arthur's Stone, in his letter to the antiquarian Edward Lhuyd:
"The common people call it Arthur's Stone, by a lift of vulgar imagination attributing it to yn [sic] hero an extravagant size and strength."

The famous Egyptologist, Sir Gardiner Wilkinson, was first to excavate the tomb in 1870 and claimed that the pathway followed by the ghostly apparition seen by many of King Arthur on a white steed, is the remains of a stone avenue.Although, the construction of this 'portal dolman' seems a magnificent feat, it is most likely that the Neolithic builders used the boulder conveniently deposited upon Cefn Bryn by a glacial ice sheet that during the last great Ice Age. The builders would have excavated beneath the immense rock, inserting the upright stones as they dug, creating two burial chambers. It has also been claimed in Dewi Bowen's book "Ancient Siluria" that a local astronomer, Richard Roberts, believes that Arthur's Stone is part of a astronomical construct together with the alignment of other landmarks visible from Cefn Bryn.
Understandably, due to its ancient origin, there are many fables to accompany the stone. Legend says that the stone claims its name from King Arthur, who found a rock in his shoe and threw it all the way from Carmarthenshire, straight over the Burry Estuary, to Cefn Bryn. Touched by the hand of King Arthur, the stone physically grew with pride and the surrounding stones raised it high with admiration. Another story bizarrely tells us that the stone travels over Cefn Bryn as the cock crows to quench its thirst at a local stream and Gower/druid tradition tells us that a young maiden could test whether the man she loved would remain faithful to her. Beneath the light of the full moon, she would offer the magical stone a cake made from barley meal, honey and milk and then circle the stone on her hands and knees three times. If the man she loved appeared before her on the final circuit she knew she had chosen a faithful suitor.

Legend and local folklore hints that this may be the final resting place of King Arthur himself. King Arthur has a mythical connection with Arthur's Stone, the neolithic tomb or cromlech sitting atop the hill between Bredwardine and Dorstone. The impressive elongate stone table measures 5.8m x 3.5m (19ft x 11ft 4") and although it does not qualify geometrically as a Round Table, there are many legends associated with it as a meeting place for Kings and Knights, with King Arthur supposedly having fought a king here, broken his back and buried him beneath the stones. More prosaically it is known to have been a burial place for the people of the region 5,000 years ago, and is in fact a chambered tomb which has lost its earth mound covering. It is also at the northern end of one of the earliest-reported ley-lines with the sacred mountain of Skirrid Fawr visible at the other end, fifteen miles due south. Alfred Watkins' association with Bredwardine comes from his interest in Arthur's Stone as a point on a ley-line reportedly connecting Snodhill Castle, Urishay Castle, Longtown Castle, Old Castle, Hatterall Camp and Skirrid Fawr. Alfred (1855-1935) was born in Hereford and travelled widely in the county as he developed his various interests which included photographic processes and equipment, and archaeology. He believed that ancient trackways, trading routes and burial paths established alignments which he called ley lines, which might be marked by standing stones or other features of the landscape. His theory was supported by some and ridiculed by others, but his classic 1925 book, "The Old Straight Track" is still in print

Artognou stone
The Artognou stone is an archaeological artefact uncovered in Cornwall in the United Kingdom. It was discovered in 1998 in securely dated sixth-century contexts among the ruins at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, a secular, high status settlement of sub-Roman Britain. It appears to have originally been a practice dedication stone for some building or other public structure, but it was broken in two and re-used as part of a drain when the original structure was destroyed. Upon its discovery the stone achieved some notoriety due to the suggestion that "Artognou" was connected to the legendary King Arthur, though scholars such as John Koch have criticized the evidence for this connection.
Archaeological description
The dating of the stone has been arrived at by two methods: first, the stone came from a securely stratified context in association with imported pottery of known types dating to the fifth/sixth centuries; second, forms of certain letters noted on the slate appear in British inscribed stones from Scotland to Cornwall post-500 and are certainly known elsewhere from 6th century north Cornwall (part of the kingdom of Dumnonia).

King Arthur is a legendary British leader who, according to medieval histories and romances, led the defence of Britain against Saxon invaders in the late 5th and early 6th centuries AD. The details of Arthur's story are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention, and his historical existence is debated and disputed by modern historians. The sparse historical background of Arthur is gleaned from various sources, including the Annales Cambriae, the Historia Brittonum, and the writings of Gildas. Arthur's name also occurs in early poetic sources such as Y Gododdin.
Arthur is a central figure in the legends making up the so-called Matter of Britain. The legendary Arthur developed as a figure of international interest largely through the popularity of Geoffrey of Monmouth's fanciful and imaginative 12th-century Historia Regum Britanniae (History of the Kings of Britain). Arthur is a common masculine given name. Its etymology is disputed, but its popularity derives from its being the name of the legendary hero King Arthur.
Art and Artie are diminutive forms of the name. A common spelling variant used in many Slavic, Romance, and Germanic languages is Artur.

The origin of the name Arthur remains a matter of debate. Some suggest it is derived from the Roman nomen gentile (family name) Artōrius, of obscure and contested etymology (but possibly of Messapic or Etruscan origin). Some scholars have noted that the legendary King Arthur's name only appears as Arthur, or Arturus, in early Latin Arthurian texts, never as Artōrius (although the Classical Latin Artōrius became Arturius in some Vulgar Latin dialects). However, this may not say anything about the origin of the name Arthur, as Artōrius would regularly become Art(h)ur when borrowed into Welsh.
Another possibility is that it is derived from a Brittonic patronym *Arto-rīg-ios (the root of which, *arto-rīg- "bear-king" is to be found in the Old Irish personal name Art-ri) via a Latinized form Artōrius. Less likely is the commonly proposed derivation from Welsh arth "bear" + (g)wr "man" (earlier *Arto-uiros in Brittonic); there are phonological difficulties with this theory—notably that a Brittonic compound name *Arto-uiros should produce Old Welsh *Artgur and Middle/Modern Welsh *Arthwr and not Arthur (in Welsh poetry the name is always spelled Arthur and is exclusively rhymed with words ending in -ur—never words ending in -wr—which confirms that the second element cannot be [g]wr "man").

Guy Ritchie
Guy Stuart Ritchie (born 10 September 1968) is an English filmmaker known for his crime films. He left secondary school and got entry-level jobs in the film industry in the mid-1990s. He eventually graduated to directing commercials. He directed his first film in 1995, a 20-minute short which impressed investors who backed his first feature film, the crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). He then directed another crime comedy, Snatch (2000). His next two films, the romantic comedy Swept Away (2002) and the crime drama Revolver (2005) were not commercial or critical successes. The next crime drama, RocknRolla (2008), received mixed reviews and a modest box office return. In 2009, he directed his first films in the action mystery genre, with Sherlock Holmes (2009) and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011). Both films were major box office successes, and the two films received positive, and moderately positive reviews, respectively.
Early life
Ritchie was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, the second of two children of Amber (née Parkinson) and Captain John Vivian Ritchie (b. 1928), former Seaforth Highlanders serviceman and advertising executive. John's father was Major Stewart Ritchie, who died in France, in 1940, during World War II. John's mother was Doris Margaretta McLaughlin (b. 1896), daughter of Vivian Guy McLaughlin (b. 1865) and Edith Martineau (b. 1866), this last by whom she shares close common ancestors with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. The McLaughlins have a pedigree going back to King Edward I of England. Ritchie's mother, Amber, later married a baronet. His father's second marriage was to Shireen Ritchie, Baroness Ritchie of Brompton, a former model and later Conservative politician and life peer.

Alfred Watkins' association with Bredwardine comes from his interest in Arthur's Stone as a point on a ley-line reportedly connecting Snodhill Castle, Urishay Castle, Longtown Castle, Old Castle, Hatterall Camp and Skirrid Fawr. Alfred (1855-1935) was born in Hereford and travelled widely in the county as he developed his various interests which included photographic processes and equipment, and archaeology. He believed that ancient trackways, trading routes and burial paths established alignments which he called ley lines, which might be marked by standing stones or other features of the landscape. His theory was supported by some and ridiculed by others, but his classic 1925 book, "The Old Straight Track" is still in print -

Arthur's Stone, sometimes known as King Arthur's Stone or Maen Ceti, is a Neolithic burial tomb dating back to 2500 B.C. and was one of the first sites to be protected under the Ancient Monuments Act of 1882. Perched upon a set of pointed supporting stones, the capstone is a 25 ton quartz conglomerate boulder, measuring an almighty 4 metres by 2 metres and 2 metres depth. However, previous to 1693 the boulder was much larger than this, until an incident knocking more than 10 tons of it to the ground in a clean break. Nobody is sure how this almighty event took place, but many theories exist. Some say that a miller attempted to remove a chunk of the rock to make a new millstone, but that the piece proved too heavy to move. Arthur's stone
Legend and local folklore hints that this may be the final resting place of King Arthur himself. King Arthur has a mythical connection with Arthur's Stone, the neolithic tomb or cromlech sitting atop the hill between Bredwardine and Dorstone. The impressive elongate stone table measures 5.8m x 3.5m (19ft x 11ft 4") and although it does not qualify geometrically as a Round Table, there are many legends associated with it as a meeting place for Kings and Knights, with King Arthur supposedly having fought a king here, broken his back and buried him beneath the stones. Others suggest it was struck by lightening during a violent storm or that St. David, the Patron Saint of Wales, himself split the stone with his mighty sword in defiance of the Druid worship centred around it. Whatever the cause the broken part can still be found alongside the monument, demoted to the ground.
The 17th century rector of Cheriton Church, the Venerable John Williams, was first to document the stone's common name, Arthur's Stone, in his letter to the antiquarian Edward Lhuyd:
"The common people call it Arthur's Stone, by a lift of vulgar imagination attributing it to yn [sic] hero an extravagant size and strength."

The famous Egyptologist, Sir Gardiner Wilkinson, was first to excavate the tomb in 1870 and claimed that the pathway followed by the ghostly apparition seen by many of King Arthur on a white steed, is the remains of a stone avenue.Although, the construction of this 'portal dolman' seems a magnificent feat, it is most likely that the Neolithic builders used the boulder conveniently deposited upon Cefn Bryn by a glacial ice sheet that during the last great Ice Age. The builders would have excavated beneath the immense rock, inserting the upright stones as they dug, creating two burial chambers. It has also been claimed in Dewi Bowen's book "Ancient Siluria" that a local astronomer, Richard Roberts, believes that Arthur's Stone is part of a astronomical construct together with the alignment of other landmarks visible from Cefn Bryn.
Understandably, due to its ancient origin, there are many fables to accompany the stone. Legend says that the stone claims its name from King Arthur, who found a rock in his shoe and threw it all the way from Carmarthenshire, straight over the Burry Estuary, to Cefn Bryn. Touched by the hand of King Arthur, the stone physically grew with pride and the surrounding stones raised it high with admiration. Another story bizarrely tells us that the stone travels over Cefn Bryn as the cock crows to quench its thirst at a local stream and Gower/druid tradition tells us that a young maiden could test whether the man she loved would remain faithful to her. Beneath the light of the full moon, she would offer the magical stone a cake made from barley meal, honey and milk and then circle the stone on her hands and knees three times. If the man she loved appeared before her on the final circuit she knew she had chosen a faithful suitor.

It has also been claimed in Dewi Bowen's book "Ancient Siluria" that a local astronomer, Richard Roberts, believes that Arthur's Stone is part of a astronomical construct together with the alignment of other landmarks visible from Cefn Bryn.
Understandably, due to its ancient origin, there are many fables to accompany the stone. Legend says that the stone claims its name from King Arthur, who found a rock in his shoe and threw it all the way from Carmarthenshire, straight over the Burry Estuary, to Cefn Bryn. Touched by the hand of King Arthur, the stone physically grew with pride and the surrounding stones raised it high with admiration. Another story bizarrely tells us that the stone travels over Cefn Bryn as the cock crows to quench its thirst at a local stream and Gower/druid tradition tells us that a young maiden could test whether the man she loved would remain faithful to her. Beneath the light of the full moon, she would offer the magical stone a cake made from barley meal, honey and milk and then circle the stone on her hands and knees three times. If the man she loved appeared before her on the final circuit she knew she had chosen a faithful suitor.

The impressive elongate stone table measures 5.8m x 3.5m (19ft x 11ft 4") and although it does not qualify geometrically as a Round Table, there are many legends associated with it as a meeting place for Kings and Knights, with King Arthur supposedly having fought a king here, broken his back and buried him beneath the stones. More prosaically it is known to have been a burial place for the people of the region 5,000 years ago, and is in fact a chambered tomb which has lost its earth mound covering. It is also at the northern end of one of the earliest-reported ley-lines with the sacred mountain of Skirrid Fawr visible at the other end, fifteen miles due south. Alfred Watkins' association with Bredwardine comes from his interest in Arthur's Stone as a point on a ley-line reportedly connecting Snodhill Castle, Urishay Castle, Longtown Castle, Old Castle, Hatterall Camp and Skirrid Fawr. Alfred (1855-1935) was born in Hereford and travelled widely in the county as he developed his various interests which included photographic processes and equipment, and archaeology. Gower Peninsula Coast Path Wild Camp. Part One, 25th 26th June 2016.
So off to south Wales for a couple of days. Gower Peninsula coast path, its 38 miles but i only do about 15 just two parts, i do another 5 mile walk over the Gower way to find Arthur's Stone were the weather turns bad and i have to give up. Part One, already looking forward to going back to this stunning coastline.

Justice League is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is intended to be the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, with a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, J. K. Simmons, Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe. In Justice League, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg assemble a team to face the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. A billionaire socialite and owner of Wayne Enterprises who dedicates himself to protecting Gotham City from its criminal underworld as a highly trained, masked vigilante.
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman:
A Kryptonian survivor and journalist for the Daily Planet with superhuman abilities, presumably brought back to life, as the character having been killed by Doomsday in the previous movie. On February 5, 2016, Cavill announced on social media that he had already started exercising for the film in advance of principal photography.
Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman:
An Amazonian warrior princess and daughter of Zeus.
Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / Flash:
A Central City police forensic investigator who can move at superhuman speeds, with his ability to tap into the Speed Force.

The king of the undersea nation of Atlantis, whose metahuman abilities originate from his Atlantean physiology.
Ray Fisher as Victor Stone / Cyborg:

J. K. Simmons as James Gordon:

Bruce Wayne's chief of security, butler, and trusted confidant.

Upon moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures.
Based off the film starring Freddie Highmore, Mary-Louise Parker, Nick Nolte, Sarah Bolger, Andrew McCarthy, Andrew McCarthy, David Strathairn, Seth Rogan, and Martin Short.
The Spiderwick Chronicles takes place in New England, United States, when young twins Simon and Jared (both played by Freddie Highmore) and their older sister Mallory move into the decrepit Spiderwick Estate. They discover a field guide to faeries written by the house's previous owner, Arthur Spiderwick, and soon begin to notice faeries throughout the estate. However, Mulgarath, a shape-shifting ogre, wants the field guide so that he can rule over all faerie-kind (and possibly humans as well) and so attacks the children in an attempt to obtain it.
Mrs. Grace, recently divorced, wants a new start for her family, so the Grace family moves into the Spiderwick Estate when it is given to them by their elderly great-aunt Lucinda, Arthur Spiderwick's daughter. Mallory uncovers a dumbwaiter system behind a wall; in it, Jared finds a monogrammed key. He also discovers Arthur Spiderwick's study, and when he uses the key to open a chest, he finds Spiderwick's Field Guide. Although an attached note warns him not to read it, he does so anyway.
Later, Jared meets a brownie named Thimbletack, who explains that magical creatures are normally invisible but can reveal themselves at will. He tells Jared about a protective circle that Arthur Spiderwick placed around the house and gives him a stone with a hole which allows him to see faeries. Simon, mistaken for Jared, is kidnapped by Mulgarath's goblins, while Jared meets Hogsqueal, a hobgoblin who gives Jared the ability to see all faeries without the aid of the stone. With Mallory's help, the twins escape from the goblins into the house.
Jared and Mallory visit their great-aunt Lucinda for advice. She tells them that only one person can help them—Arthur Spiderwick. However, he was "rescued" by Sylphs, a type of faerie, when goblins attacked, and they will not allow him to return because they desire his knowledge. Lucinda tells them that they must find her father and have him destroy the book. Suddenly, Mulgarath's goblins attack them and manage to steal several pages from the book before they are driven off.
Meanwhile, Simon, aided by Thimbletack, has employed his time to fill plastic bags with tomato sauce, which burn goblins like acid. The siblings use the book to summon Arthur Spiderwick's pet, a griffin, which takes them to the realms of the Sylphs. There they meet Arthur Spiderwick, who has not aged but is also unaware of the time he has spent there. Spiderwick initially does not want to leave, but eventually changes his mind, and the three escape on the griffin.
On their return, Hogsqueal warns them that one of the stolen pages will allow Mulgurath to destroy the protective circle when the moon waxes full. The family arms themselves with steel knives and tomato sauce. When they are forced into the kitchen, they place all of their tomato sauce and salt into the oven and hide before detonating it, killing all of the goblins.
Mr. Grace enters the house and tells Jared that he came to apologize; however, Jared stabs him in the stomach, revealing him to be Mulgarath in disguise. Jared escapes with the book through the dumbwaiter while Mulgarath transforms into a snake and gives pursuit. On the roof, Jared throws the book onto the lawn; as Mulgarath transforms into a raven to catch it, he is snatched and eaten by Hogsqueal.
The Graces bring Lucinda back to the house; and the Sylphs appear, bringing Arthur. However, he cannot remain, because his age would return to him all at once and kill him. Instead, Lucinda asks to be taken with him, and so the Sylphs transform her back into her six-year-old self and spirit the two away.
