The State Council Information Office (SCIO; Chinese: 国务院新闻办公室; pinyin: Guówùyuàn Xīnwén Bàngōngshì; literally: "State Council News Office") is an administrative office under the State Council, the chief administrative body of the People's Republic of China. It is the chief information office of the Chinese government.
The Internet Affairs Bureau deals with Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China and represses "disruptive" (anti-Chinese government) activity on the web in mainland China.
In May, 2011 the State Council Information Office announced transfer of its offices which regulated the internet to a new subordinate agency, the State Internet Information Office which would be responsible for regulating the internet in the People's Republic of China. The relationship of the new agency to other agencies in the PRC which regulate the internet was unclear from the announcement.

The State Council is an advisory body for Libya that is to be formed under the terms of the Libyan Political Agreement which was signed on 17 December 2015. The agreement resulted from United Nations supported peace talks and has been unanimously endorsed by the Security Council. The State Council will be able to advise the interim Government of National Accord (GNA) and the House of Representatives (HoR) and will be able to express a binding opinion on the GNA under certain circumstances. The members of the council will be nominated by the New General National Congress, a body formed from members of the previous General National Congress which served as Libya's legislature between 2012 and 2014.
