I have been watching the videos of these meetings you have been holding and I have to say that I am quite appalled. Last night's meeting definitely took the cake. I have easily taped or watched over 100 of these types of meetings in their entirety and last nights has to be in the top 5 for being the most absurd. This is a scam that is going on. Let's look at the facts: This city updated its general plan in just the last 10-12 years whereas most cities throughout the region haven't updated there's in 20-30 and in some cases 40 years. If you look at what it actually says in the state laws, it is not what these planners are telling us. They are lying. For one it is not required by law to update your general plan. That is a myth. General Plans are a statute and what it actually says is that general plans have to be updated periodically. There is no numeric time-frame. Norco hasn't updated their general plan in over 40 years and the state isn't sitting on their streets with tanks over it. Norco is just fine and the residents love their unique city. So you don't have to update your general plan. State law does say however that you have to update your housing element once every 8 years. That's a huge difference compared to what these people are doing. No money was taken from SCAG to do this plan so you are paying Stantec nearly 2 million dollars because you want to not because you have too. Last night there was a slide that said Complete Street are required by state Law. Really? What law? There is no law that says you have to put people on bicycles. That is absolutely ridiculous and is a downright lie. Larissa herself even contradicted that statement only 20 minutes later with her own presentation. Her exact slide said State Frameworks Promote development models and then cited SB375. Promote. Periodic. There has never been a law passed in the world that has mandatory greenhouse gas reduction policies. The United Nations reached their deal and even the UN deal is non-binding. They originally tried to set up framework that would make it mandatory but the deal was only made because the mandatory language was taken out. So if the UN can't get a mandatory deal then what makes you think that any of this that is being imposed on us at the local level is mandatory. All of this is voluntary and because you want to do it. Lastly I want to talk about what this plan actually is. The planners seem to have this huge problem with people getting in their cars and going to work in some other city. They showed a graphic that showed what our entire world is going to look like under this sustainability plan. Everything in your life will be within a 3 mile radius so that you don't ever have to leave the general area and then had this absurd presentation as if everyone wants to start taking 3 mile bicycle trips on a daily basis. Sustainability is rationing. It's using less of everything. Less food, less energy, less water which is already happening, less mobility which is why they are trying to shove bikes down our throat, less choice. The choice between a car and a bike is not a choice. It's the difference between a $100 steak and a McDonalds burger. You are voluntarily reducing the living standards of your residents if you go along with this plan. Fontana doesn't need to become a city with 600,000 people. The survey said that the vast majority of residents are happy with how the city is so just leave it alone. I believe that lying is a breach of contract and I think Stantec should be fired.
