David S. "Dave" Koz (born March 27, 1963) is an American smooth jazz saxophonist.
Dave Koz was born on March 27, 1963 in Encino, California to Jewish parents: Norman, a dermatologist and, Audrey Koz, a pharmacist. Dave has a brother, Jeff, who is also a musician, and a sister, Roberta. Although he is Jewish, Koz plays both Christmas and occasional Hanukkah songs at his concerts. He attended William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California performing on saxophone as a member of the school jazz band. He later graduated from UCLA with a degree in mass communications in 1986, and only weeks after his graduation, decided to make a go of becoming a professional musician.
Within weeks of that decision, he was recruited as a member of Bobby Caldwell's tour. For the rest of the 1980s, Koz served as a session musician in several bands, toured with Jeff Lorber. Koz was a member of Richard Marx's band and toured with Marx throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. He also played in the house band of CBS' short-lived The Pat Sajak Show, with Tom Scott as bandleader.

One the exciting things about the Dave Koz Cruises is not only all the exotic destinations but its also about the quality of the music, the artists and musicians on board of the ship and this year was not an absolute exception. Every night, a premium musical show with the best of the best of the smooth jazz world. Believe or not the first night was one my favorite nights at the cruise. Two shows back to back with Kirk Whalum and my guest on this interview the great pianist, trombonist and multi instrumentalist jazz musician Brian Culbertson with whom I have the honor speak one to one on board of the luxurious Navigator Of The Seas while we stop at the beautiful Mykonos, Greece. On this occasion Brian tell us about the Royal treatment by Dave Koz and his production stuff. His reencounte...

I have alway been a big fan of Gregg Karukas music since early at the begging of his career as a piano player. His passion and respect for the genre go way beyond "smooth jazz". Always remember my first encounter with his music back in 1987 in one of my visits at the legendary Tower Records store at 66 st. and Broadway, NYC when listen to his piano on his first record release entitle "The Night Owl". That CD changes my mind perception about how contemporary jazz shall be play it. I am following his sky rocking career ever since with so many records CDs like."The Night Owl" 1987, "Key Witness" 1990, "Sound Of Emotion" 1992, "Summer House"1993, "Home For Holidays" 1993, "You'll Know That" 1995, "Blue Touch" 1998, "Nightshift" 2000, "Heatwave" 2002, "Looking Up" 2005 "GK" 2009. I feel so unsure,
As I take your hand,
And lead you to the dance floor,
As the music dies,
Something in your eyes,
Calls to mind a silver screen,
And all its sad goodbyes,
I'm never gonna dance again,
Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
Though it's easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool,
I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste a chance that I'd been given,
So I'm never gonna dance again,
The way I danced with you,
Time can never mend,
The careless whisper of a good friend,
To the heart and mind,
Ignorance is kind,
There's no comfort in the truth,
Pain is all you'll find,
I'm never gonna dance again,
Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
Though it's easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool,
I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste a chance that I'd been given,
So I'm never gonna dance again,
The way I danced with you,
Tonight the music seems so loud,
I wish that we could loose this crowd,
Maybe it's better this way,
We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say,
We could have been so good together,
We could have lived this dance forever,
But now who's gonna dance with me,
Please stay,
I'm never gonna dance again,
Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
Though it's easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool,
I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste a chance that I'd been given,
So I'm never gonna dance again,
The way I danced with you,
Now that you've gone,
Now that you've gone,
Now that you've gone
Was what I did so wrong,
So wrong that you had to leave me alone,
I'm never gonna dance again,
Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
Though it's easy to pretend,
I know you're not a fool,
I should have known better than to cheat a friend,
And waste a chance that I'd been given,
So I'm never gonna dance again,
