I have alway been a big fan of Gregg Karukas music since early at the begging of his career as a piano player. His passion and respect for the genre go way beyond "smooth jazz". Always remember my first encounter with his music back in 1987 in one of my visits at the legendary Tower Records store at 66 st. and Broadway, NYC when listen to his piano on his first record release entitle "The Night Owl". That CD changes my mind perception about how contemporary jazz shall be play it. After meeting him the first time back in 1995 when he came to the jazz channel to play with the smooth jazz saxophonist Boney Jazz. This time as the musical director for the main evening shows at the Metropolis Theater at the luxurious "Navigator Of The Seas" of the prestigious Royal Caribbean Cruises, during the mentioned cruise week. Between the background music of his own band plus the noise of the out-crowed of the cruise, Gregg tells us his unique experience working with Dave for the third consecutive time, not only as a musician but as the musical director of the cruise. A litter bit about his roots and his mutual musical collaboration and friendship with the Brazilian guitarist Ricardo Silveira, ever since they met in 1996 when lives in Los Angeles, until now...
