Biblical Magi

The Magi (/ˈmædʒaɪ/ or /ˈmeɪdʒaɪ/; Greek: μάγοι, magoi), also referred to as the (Three) Wise Men or (Three) Kings, were, in the Gospel of Matthew and Christian tradition, a group of distinguished foreigners who visited Jesus after his birth, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They are regular figures in traditional accounts of the nativity celebrations of Christmas and are an important part of Christian tradition.

According to Matthew, the only one of the four Canonical gospels to mention the Magi, they came "from the east" to worship the "king of the Jews". Although the account does not mention the number of Magi, the three gifts has led to the widespread assumption that there were three men. In Eastern Christianity, especially the Syriac churches, the Magi often number twelve. Their identification as kings in later Christian writings is probably linked to Psalms 72:11, "May all kings fall down before him".

Biblical account

Traditional nativity scenes depict three "kings" visiting the infant Jesus on the night of his birth, in a manger accompanied by the shepherds and angels, but this should be understood as an artistic convention allowing the two separate scenes of the Adoration of the Shepherds on the birth night and the later Adoration of the Magi to be combined for convenience. The single biblical account in Matthew simply presents an event at an unspecified point after Christ's birth in which an unnumbered party of unnamed "wise men" ("μάγοι") visits him in a house ("οἰκίαν"), not a stable, with only "his mother" mentioned as present. The New Revised Standard Version of Matthew 2:1–12 describes the visit of the Magi in this manner:

God Forgives, I Don't

God Forgives, I Don't is the fifth studio album by American rapper Rick Ross, released on July 30, 2012, by Maybach Music Group, Slip-n-Slide Records and Def Jam. It was produced by several record producers, including Cool & Dre, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Pharrell, Jake One, and Rico Love, among others.

Upon its release, God Forgives, I Don't received generally positive reviews from music critics, who complimented its opulent production style and Ross' performance. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 218,000 copies in its first week, and charted in several other countries. By October 2012, the album had been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and had sold 588,000 copies in the United States. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, presented at the 2013 Grammy Awards, but lost to Drake's 2011 album, Take Care.

2 Kings (album)

2 Kings is a collaborative studio album by Nigerian rappers Olamide and Phyno. It was released through Cloud 9 and the iTunes Store with little announcement on 1 April 2015, by Penthauze Music and YBNL Nation. The album features collaborations with producers and guest artists such as Wizkid, Lil Kesh, Storm Rex, Pheelz, Major Bangz, B.Banks and Young Jonn. Prior to the album, Olamide and Phyno frequently collaborated with one another on several songs including "Ghost Mode" and "Dope Money". The album produced the singles "Une" and "Confam Ni", both of which were released in the months leading to the album release.

Background

Olamide first announced plans for a collaborative project with Phyno in January 2014. He tweeted the announcement which was later confirmed by Phyno via Instagram. The album was initially scheduled for release in 2014, but was pushed back. While speaking to Yaw of Wazobia FM in October 2014, Olamide said that the album was still being worked on.

Singles

On 5 February 2015, Phyno released "Une" as the collaborative album's lead single. On 8 March 2015, Olamide released the album's second single titled "Confam Ni"; the song features vocals from Wizkid and was produced by Young John.

Legend (Witchcraft album)

Legend is the fourth album from the Swedish doom metal band Witchcraft. The album was released September 25, 2012 through Nuclear Blast Records. The album marked the debut of three new members: Simon Solomon (guitar), Tom Jondelius (guitar), and Oscar Johansson (drums). Singer Magnus Pelander opted to focus on vocals and, as a result, Legend is the first Witchcraft album on which he does not play guitar as well as sing. Bassist Ola Henriksson noted that "Magnus has been wanting to drop the guitar for a couple of years now, and just focus on the vocals. When we found two new guitar players, it was an easy decision for him to do that. Critics observed that the album departed from the band's vintage production values and opted for a more modern-sounding production.

Legend (Poco album)

Legend is the 13th album by the country rock band Poco, released in 1978.

After ABC Records cancelled the release of Poco's planned 13th album The Last Roundup. the three remaining members of the band agreed to take a break. Rusty Young and Paul Cotton formed a new group called the Cotton-Young Band and prepared this album as a duo. However, ABC acquired the album and then decided to continue to use the name "Poco" for the band. When the album became successful, Poco drummer George Grantham found himself forced out of Poco without ever having quit the group.

"Crazy Love" and "Heart of the Night", written and sung by Young and Cotton respectively, become the group's two biggest hits to date. After "Crazy Love" was released as a single, ABC Records was acquired by MCA Records, and the record's stunning commercial success was attributed by some to the efforts of ABC's promotional staff to prove their value to MCA. Meanwhile, the band started to stray from its distinct country rock sound, heading towards a more mainstream, commercially applauded soft rock and pop sound. Other noteworthy album cuts were "Spellbound," "Little Darlin'," "Legend," and "Barbados," the latter being the inspiration for the (at the time) yet to be released Beach Boys comeback hit "Kokomo".
