We address the problem of real-time generation of
smooth and collision-free trajectories for autonomous flight of a
quadrotor through 3-D cluttered environments. Our approach
starts by generating a sequence of variable sized 3-D free
space grids as the virtual flight corridor using an OctoMapbased
environment representation and search-based planning
method. The key contribution is a quadratic programmingbased
formulation for generating multi-segment polynomial
trajectories that are entirely fit within the corridor, and thus
collision-free. Our formulation also allows incorporating higherorder
dynamical constraints to ensure that the trajectory is
feasible for the platform. A novel non-iterative constraint
relaxation method is also proposed for implicit optimization
of segment duration. The proposed algorithm runs real-time
onboard our quadrotor experimental testbed. Both simulation
and online experimental results are presented for performance
verification.

Another VFR on TOP flight. One of my most enjoyable moments flying corporate was to climb out of a depressing overcast into clear blue skies.
Upon arriving at the area I had picked out from other flights we fined it was recently mowed and dry, even after a torrential down pour the evening before.
I informed Joe and Mike about the area and we setup for the flight. Mike was off first and I would hv bn right behind him if I had centered on my wing. I pulled the wing up and felt it pull to the right and twisted itself to the left, immediate action item (KILL the MOTOR) and start over. It took so long that Mike had came back around and walked it on. About that time Joe had a takeoff issue and Mike went to help. By this time I was ready to start but the motor had flooded. Mike attempted to start it though it was no use. So I unbuckled, yet again, and cleared the engine.
After which I buckled in, hooked up, started the motor, centered on the wing and off I went. The takeoff was fine except I stumbled with my right foot, in the shortest grass ever, which caused me to lean forward with my full throttle thrust line trying it's best to take me to my knees. I was trying so hard to run and lean back against the trust I went to far and over corrected which threw me into the air. I made some corrections and was able to flew on.
The broken ceiling was about 100 feet with tops around 500. I climbed into the sunrise keeping the sun in one spot in front of me for directional control, VFR on TOP does bring a smile to ones face.
With a headwind of 15 mph and level 3 bumps below 600 feet, we enjoyed the view and played in the area at altitude.
During our post flight talk, we need radio communications to better coordinate pictures and change of plans like:
Mike's unexpected engine out caused by the starter rope getting into the prop then being flung across the motor and taking out the spark plug wire on it's way to putting a welt on his side. His experience flying PPG paid off and was able handle the flight conditions and glide back for a successful landing at the LZ.

I normally T/O in the grass because I don't like my lines being snagged on the sharp rocks in the pavement. But today I didn't feel like going into the tall wet grass and sand-spurs. So I kitted the wing in the intersection and laid the lines straight for my forward launch into a 6 mph wind.
Forgot to turn on the GoPro for T/O though it was short and sweet. The morning climb to two hundred feet cruise altitude into a beautiful sunrise over the western shore of Charlotte Harbor, was most enjoyable.
Returning from the western shore I dropped down over the back country where lots of receding water is still present from last week's heavy rains.
Flew over a few empty hog traps, good reason to have a paramotor. That's a long swampy ride back their.
Practiced using power to adjust glide-path instead of brakes. Tight right turns after T/O, with the P-factor. Powered slow flight to spot landings.
I have to remember to secure my phone before landing, so after a touch and go I noticed it had falling out. Came back around and landed. GoPro card fills up after landing because I forgot to clear the last videos.
Searched for my phone but the grass was to high. Noticed a cyclist passing by. I yelled, you gotta phone? After I apologized for interrupting his workout, I had him call my phone, it was twenty feet behind me, (learned that trick from Mike L) sweet.
Reset the wing, performed another good T/O. Flew over to and landed in the paved intersection where I T/O from, reverse kitted the wing down and decided to perform a reverse T/O. Would be my second attempt.
I pulled the wing up in 7 mph wind but needed to jog backwards to get it higher and tripped wherein those f@$king work boots instead of tennis shoes. Landing square on my PAP's main stainless steel cage with 250 lbs. (No Damage) though I almost turtled which caused a prop strike damaging my tips. Man did I let the expletives start flying.
If I had been in the grass their most likely wouldn't hv bn any damage. Dammit Man.
What did I learn.
If you have to jog backwards to:
1) stay ahead of the wing after landing, DON'T, just hold the brakes and drop the wing behind you. In no wind, I'm going to let it fly overhead, stop moving and pull the brakes. We'll see?
2) keep or get the wing up for takeoff. DON'T. Execute a forward, especially with direct drive. Though you could still damage your frame.

Another VFR on TOP flight. One of my most enjoyable moments flying corporate was to climb out of a depressing overcast into clear blue skies.
Upon arriving at the area I had picked out from other flights we fined it was recently mowed and dry, even after a torrential down pour the evening before.
I informed Joe and Mike about the area and we setup for the flight. Mike was off first and I would hv bn right behind him if I had centered on my wing. I pulled the wing up and felt it pull to the right and twisted itself to the left, immediate action item (KILL the MOTOR) and start over. It took so long that Mike had came back around and walked it on. About that time Joe had a takeoff issue and Mike went to help. By this time I was ready to start but the motor had flooded. Mike attempted to start it though it was no use. So I unbuckled, yet again, and cleared the engine.
After which I buckled in, hooked up, started the motor, centered on the wing and off I went. The takeoff was fine except I stumbled with my right foot, in the shortest grass ever, which caused me to lean forward with my full throttle thrust line trying it's best to take me to my knees. I was trying so hard to run and lean back against the trust I went to far and over corrected which threw me into the air. I made some corrections and was able to flew on.
The broken ceiling was about 100 feet with tops around 500. I climbed into the sunrise keeping the sun in one spot in front of me for directional control, VFR on TOP does bring a smile to ones face.
With a headwind of 15 mph and level 3 bumps below 600 feet, we enjoyed the view and played in the area at altitude.
During our post flight talk, we need radio communications to better coordinate pictures and change of plans like:
Mike's unexpected engine out caused by the starter rope getting into the prop then being flung across the motor and taking out the spark plug wire on it's way to putting a welt on his side. His experience flying PPG paid off and was able handle the flight conditions and glide back for a successful landing at the LZ.

I normally T/O in the grass because I don't like my lines being snagged on the sharp rocks in the pavement. But today I didn't feel like going into the tall wet grass and sand-spurs. So I kitted the wing in the intersection and laid the lines straight for my forward launch into a 6 mph wind.
Forgot to turn on the GoPro for T/O though it was short and sweet. The morning climb to two hundred feet cruise altitude into a beautiful sunrise over the western shore of Charlotte Harbor, was most enjoyable.
Returning from the western shore I dropped down over the back country where lots of receding water is still present from last week's heavy rains.
Flew over a few empty hog traps, good reason to have a paramotor. That's a long swampy ride back their.
Practiced using power to adjust glide-path instead of brakes. Tight right turns after T/O, with the P-factor. Powered slow flight to spot landings.
I have to remember to secure my phone before landing, so after a touch and go I noticed it had falling out. Came back around and landed. GoPro card fills up after landing because I forgot to clear the last videos.
Searched for my phone but the grass was to high. Noticed a cyclist passing by. I yelled, you gotta phone? After I apologized for interrupting his workout, I had him call my phone, it was twenty feet behind me, (learned that trick from Mike L) sweet.
Reset the wing, performed another good T/O. Flew over to and landed in the paved intersection where I T/O from, reverse kitted the wing down and decided to perform a reverse T/O. Would be my second attempt.
I pulled the wing up in 7 mph wind but needed to jog backwards to get it higher and tripped wherein those f@$king work boots instead of tennis shoes. Landing square on my PAP's main stainless steel cage with 250 lbs. (No Damage) though I almost turtled which caused a prop strike damaging my tips. Man did I let the expletives start flying.
If I had been in the grass their most likely wouldn't hv bn any damage. Dammit Man.
What did I learn.
If you have to jog backwards to:
1) stay ahead of the wing after landing, DON'T, just hold the brakes and drop the wing behind you. In no wind, I'm going to let it fly overhead, stop moving and pull the brakes. We'll see?
2) keep or get the wing up for takeoff. DON'T. Execute a forward, especially with direct drive. Though you could still damage your frame.

ZMR-250 battery flight time comparison 2200, 1300 & 1600 mAh
The big 2200 mAh 3S battery gives a nice 10 mins flight time, but as you might see from the video, the plane flies much like a truck as compared to the lighter batteries. The PID settings are also for the lighter batteries, so the 2200 mAh flight has quite some wobbles in the wind.
