Pyeongtaek is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Located in the southwestern part of the province, Pyeongtaek was founded as a union of two districts in 940, during the Goryeo dynasty. It was elevated to city status in 1986, and is home to a South Korean naval base and a large concentration of United States troops. The Korean government plans to transform Pyeongtaek city to an international economic hub to coincide with the move of the United States Forces Korea (USFK) to Pyeongtaek. During the Korean War it was the site of an early battle between US and North Korean forces, the Battle of Pyongtaek. It is the location of Pyeongtaek University.
The United States and South Korean governments came to an agreement to enlarge Camp Humphreys — a US Army installation outside Anjeong-ri, a community in Pyeongtaek — and move the majority of US forces stationed in and north of Seoul to the Camp Humphreys area. Invoking eminent domain, the government obtained the surrounding land for the base expansion.
This video shows 4 different off post houses near camp humphreys. These places are around E5 oha I used Mrs. Conroy at Humphreys Realty. She was awesome! She has post access so she can pick you up from lodging unlike most realtors. She also speaks perfect english. I suggest you contact a realtor ahead of time before you come with a wish list so they can have places prepared for you Mrs Conroy is available at Eunsil.Conroy@gmail.com or 010-5395-8314
Downtown Pyeongtaek is packed with stores and restaurants. It is only a twenty minute walk from my apartment. Downtown is a train station with a huge 6-story department store, very upscale. In front of the train station is a bus terminal. The trains and buses are very cheap. The train can have me in Seoul very quickly and costs only $5. I actually ate Sushi downtown that night and it cost $1.90. I will post a video of that soon.

Was in the area and had a camera on. Take a look at what the Pyeongtaek Station redlight district has to offer at 3 pm. This is just one of the many alleys, but the only one with a few glass houses open.

On the weekend we visited Songtan 송탄 for International cuisine, an area known for an American Military Base (Osan Air Base), in Pyeongtaek 평택, South Korea. Situated strategically between my Korean apartment in Pyeongtaek and Audrey's Korean apartment in Yongin, Songtan is a convenient meeting point for us on the weekends. Although this area isn't nearly as charming as foreign friendly districts in Seoul, such as Itaewon or Insadong, the food here - especially the International dining options - is superb. In this travel video we (Audrey and Samuel) take a Korean train from Yeongdeungpo Station to Pyeongtaek Station. The journey was only about 45 minutes and we used the slowest Korail (Mugunghwa 무궁화) to get there. It's our preferred method of returning back to Pyeongtaek from Seoul these days. Before we took the cheaper option (normal subway) but it took too long and we had to make too many transfer along the way. In our opinion, Mugunghwa is the way to go :) We also recommend departing from Yeongdeungpo Station as it is far less crowded than beehive that is known as Seoul station. When coming up with a top attractions travel guide for South Korea it became a daunting task to go through my travel video library collection of Korean videos and decide which ones to use. There is just so much to see and do in Korea from food to culture and from attractions and cities worth visiting. From Seoul to Busan and from countryside to urban city centers there is something for everyone. The following recommendation for the top things to do in South Korea: GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http:/...
In this travel video we hang out at a Korean Cafe (Cafe Jesters Pies) while travel blogging on a Saturday afternoon in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. Jesters Cafe is an Australian franchise that has recently become quite popular in South Korea. Featuring some of the best pies we've had in Korea, it's no surprise that it can get packed at times with both Koreans and foreigners alike. In this video we (Sam & Audrey) take the slow train from Pyeongtaek to Seoul. It was a last minute dash at the station, and we would not have made it had the train not been delayed. Unlike trains in many other parts of the world, such as in India or Thailand, being punctual is an absolute must in Korea given that trains are rarely behind schedule or delayed for any particular reason. As of late we've been taking the train into Seoul more often than not because the metro line takes nearby double the time to get there; therefore, instead of spending four hours there and back we're able to reduce the journey to merely two hours. I often prefer the more budget option, but in this case because of time scarcity on the weekends, I'd rather enjoy more time to explore the city. GEAR WE USE Olym...
In this video we eat Korean style pizza outside of a local pizzeria in Anseong / Pyeongtaek 안성 / 평택, South Korea. The pizza is extra large (locally known as BIG) combination loaded with all kinds of toppings. We enjoy eating it outside with some sodas and Samuel encounters a cute girl who talks about eating Chicken in Korean. In this travel video we (Audrey and Samuel) take a Korean train from Gwangju to Pyeongtaek. The journey is about 3.5 hours and we used the slowest Korail (Mugunghwa 무궁화) to get there. On board we enjoy some Korean walnut cakes (Hodugwaja - 호두과자), act silly (as per usual) & show you clips of the scenery along the way. We both love taking the train but we were sad to see our weekend adventure end so soon. In this travel video we take Subway line number 1 (Korean Metro / Train) on a short ride from Pyeongtaek 평택to Cheonan 천안. Given my uncanny ability to miss trains by a hairsplitting second, I was quite relieved that we literally made it on board mere seconds before the doors shut. Quite typically trains heading south from Pyeongtaek area rarely full considering major hubs such as Anyang and Suwon are the last major transportation hubs along this line. Thus, we were fortunate enough to have our own seat; a luxury we're seldom provided when taking the train in the opposite direction en route to Suwon or Seoul. We (Nomadic Samuel and That Backpacker) take a Mugunghwa 무궁화호 (slow train) from Pyeongtaek 평택 to Daejeon 대전. Highlights of the trip include eating a delicious Korean walnut cake snack (Hodugwaja - 호두과자) made with red bean paste and stuffed with walnuts. The one hour train ride itself was rather uneventful aside from somebody cutting their nails in a site up ahead. The rest of the footage is of scenery and some random goofy stuff. The song in question is loch lomond, which goes something like the following:
I’ll take the high road
And you’ll take the low road
And I’ll be in scotland afore ye
But me and my true love
Will never meet again
On the bonny, bonny banks of loch lomond
