Bibury is situated in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds on the River Coln 9 miles from the market town of Burford.
The village was once described by William Morris as 'the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds'.
The Cotswold district in south-central England is famous for its green rolling hills and especially for its honey colored stone villages. We’re starting our explorations in perhaps the most beautiful village in all of the Cotswolds and perhaps in all of England or the world for that matter -- it's Castle Combe, a perfect postcard village. Fortunately we've arrived early in the day in the off-season so it seems as if we have this little town all to ourselves we can appreciate the exquisite beauty of this special place without any crowds or distractions.

Seventeenth-century weavers' cottages and water meadow set in the Cotswold village of Bibury
This Gloucestershire beauty spot is a great place to visit whatever you're looking for.
For a bit of history, take a stroll down the picturesque Arlington Row. These cottages were built in 1380 as a monastic wool store and converted into weavers' cottages in the 17th century.
Bibury is a village which is made with stone and one of the villages are in the UK and the villages itself in flops by the River Coln. Bibury is located on the River Coln, about 6.6 miles northeast of Cirencester. The River Coln flows through this village and sandwiched between the main roads and is known as boggy expanse water meadow rack Isle. With the Arlington line and it made one of the most beautiful scenes found here in the Cotswold's. Built in the year 1380 of local stone, the weavers have provided for greasing the fabric in the 17th century Arlington Mill, corn mill is now home of the people and the museum of agriculture. The Museum contains photographs, documents and working machine which offers an interesting insight into the mill and Victoria way of life of a bygone era. There is also a room dedicated to William Morris, teashop, a souvenir shop and a garden. Behind Arlington's most appealing are the awkward hills, dotted with cottages built from traditional stone Cotswald. The village of Bibury by St Mary's Church, Saxon Church built in the 8th century. And there is a stained glass in the 13th century.

The North wall of the chancel of the Church is home to a stained glass window designed in 1927 by Karl Parsons and appeared in the Christmas in 1992 issued by the Royal Mail. There are two hotels in Bibury, Bibury Court Hotel, located in an area of 8.5 hectares, acres of Tudor, with a major part stemming from 1633, while Swan Hotel, with beautiful wood uniqueness decorated lounge was originally a 17th century coaching inn with stabling and taproom. In the village, visitors should not miss the fish farm; here there are 10 million fish each year, which was built in 1902. Visitors can buy fish or can eat here and you can catch the fish yourself up as you like.

Bibury is a village and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England. It is on both banks of the River Coln which rises in the same (Cotswold) District and which is a Thames tributary. The village is centred 6.5 miles (10.5 km) northeast of Cirencester. Arlington Row here is a nationally notable architectural conservation area depicted on the inside cover of all United Kingdom passports. It is a main tourist destination for tourist visiting the traditional rural villages, tea houses and many ornate protected buildings of the Cotswold District, accordingly it is one of six places in the country featured in Mini-Europe, Brussels.
History
In the Domesday Book (1086), a record of survey done under William the Conqueror, the place is named Becheberie, and it is recorded that the lands and church in Bibury were held by St. Mary's Priory at Worcester, from whom it passed in 1130 to the Abbey of Osney, near Oxford: the Abbey continued to hold it until its dissolution in 1540.

Bibury. A Charming Cotswold Village.
The nineteenth-century artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury "the most beautiful village in England" when he visited it. The village is known for its honey-coloured seventeenth century stone cottages with steeply pitched roofs, which once housed weavers who supplied cloth for fulling at nearby Arlington Mill. Until the 1980s, that building also housed the museum of Arlington Mill with a collection of period clothing, before it was shifted to Barnsley House. The Mill is now a private residence. Bibury is particularly frequented by Japanese tourists. This is largely attributed to Emperor Hirohito having stayed in the village on his European tour. The nineteenth-century artist and craftsman William Morris called Bibury "the most beautiful village in England" when he visited it.
The village is known for its honey-coloured seventeenth century stone cottages with steeply pitched roofs, which once housed weavers who supplied cloth for fulling at nearby Arlington Mill. Until the 1980s, that building also housed the museum of Arlington Mill with a collection of period clothing, before it was shifted to Barnsley House. The Mill is now a private residence.
Bibury is particularly frequented by Japanese tourists. This is largely attributed to Emperor Hirohito having stayed in the village on his European tour.
The picturesque Arlington Row cottages were built in 1380 as a monastic wool store. This was converted into a row of cottages for weavers in the seventeenth century. The cloth produced there was sent to Arlington Mill. Arlington Row is a popular visitor attraction, probably one of the most photographed Cotswold scenes, and was preserved by the Royal College of Arts. It has been used as a film and television location — most notably for Stardust and Bridget Jones Diary.
