Céline Marie Claudette Dion, CC OQ ChLD (/ˈdiːɒn/;French: [selin d(z)ijɔ̃]; born 30 March 1968) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, businesswoman and occasional actress. Born into a large family from Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion emerged as a teen star in the French-speaking world after her manager and future husband René Angélil mortgaged his home to finance her first record. Dion first gained international recognition in the 1980s by winning both the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest where she represented Switzerland. Following a series of French albums in the early 1980s, she signed on to CBS Records Canada in 1986. In 1990, she released the English-language album Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world.
During the 1990s, with the help of Angélil, she achieved worldwide fame after signing with Epic Records and releasing several English albums along with additional French albums, becoming one of the most successful artists in pop music history. Two of her albums, Falling Into You (1996) and Let's Talk About Love (1997), were both certified diamond in the US. In addition, her 1995 album D'eux, is the best-selling French-language album of all time. However, in 1999 at the height of her success, Dion announced a hiatus from entertainment in order to start a family and spend time with her husband, who had been diagnosed with cancer. She returned to the top of pop music in 2002 and signed a three-year (later extended to almost five years) contract to perform nightly in a five-star theatrical show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Paradise, Nevada.
For a Summer vacation I had quite the opportunity to do a once-of-a-lifetime trip. That would be riding VIA Rail's train 1 "The Canadian" the whole route from Toronto, Ontario to Vancouver, BC. A total of 4 nights and 5 days on one of the last great streamliners in the world. Our train (which left Toronto the evening of 7/12/13) had two locomotives leading a total of 19 cars. After leaving the city lights of Toronto, it's not long before day 2 rolls around. Most of day 2 is though the heavy forests of Northern Ontario. The "big" station stop of the day is the tiny town of Hornpayne. The town itself couldn't have had more than 300 people, yet they did have a wifi connection that was available from the train as we were stopped there. The following morning we find ourselves fast approaching...
Here are three passenger operations from the same day, all quite different. First up is Train #1, the iconic 'Canadian' operated by VIA Rail Canada. This long distance passenger train originated four days earlier in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, nearly three thousand miles away. The classic Budd-built, stainless-steel cars were originally delivered beginning in 1954. It was videoed a few miles east of its destination in Vancouver, BC, in the City of Burnaby at about MP146 on Canadian National's New Westminster subdivision. Next up is Amtrak's Cascades Service, Train 510, which originated at Seattle, WA, USA's King Street Station a few hours ealier. It's now at south Brownsville, MP139 of BNSF's New Westminster subdivision, in the City of Surrey, BC. When the Talgo articulated trainset reach...

Celine Dion & The Canadian Tenors - Hallelujah (leonard cohen) on Oprah Winfrey Show February, 10th 2010 Lyrics: "I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? It goes like this The fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Baby I have been here before I know this room, I've walked this floor I used to live alone before I knew you. If you're a national army in the market for a brand spanking new jet, smart rifle, or drone, you might consider checking out CANSEC, Canada's premier defense trade show. While Canada is known as a peacekeeping nation and for turning down (publicly, at least) George Bush's invitation to invade Iraq in the "Coalition of the Willing," military exports are booming as of late. And every year at CANSEC, held in Canada's quiet capital of Ottawa, Canadian and international defence and security contractors hawk their wares to soldiers, generals, and defence officials from Peru to Israel. While the military products on site aren't for sale per se, defence companies use CANSEC to showcase their best hardware to serious national armies looking for upgrades. With the support of the Harper governm...

National Archives and Records Administration ARC Identifier 2569680 / Local Identifier 111-TV-414 Big Picture: Salute to the Canadian Army DVD Copied by Timothy Vollmer. This episode in the current THE BIG PICTURE series, filmed in Canada by U.S. Army Signal Corps cameramen, had its world premiere on October 28 at 9:30 P.M. over the coast-to-coast facilities of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Tracing the history of the Canadian Army from the middle of the 18th century to present, the film examines the historic relations of Canada and the United States. The fruitfulness of Canadian-American solidarity is nowhere more evident than in the shoulder-to-shoulder fighting shared by Canadian and American soldiers on the battlefields of Europe and Korea. Evident throughout the story...
They say "ride them while you can" and that most certainly is true of The Canadian, the last true streamliner in North America. The Canadian was launch by Canadian Pacific in 1955 as a true first class journey clear across Canada. The train featured brand new stainless steel railcars based on the California Zephyr. The cars are still first rate, including classic Budd diners and dome cars. In 1978 Via Rail took of the service and in 1990 rerouted the train from Canadian Pacific Rails to the more northerly Canadian National route. Although the faces have changed, the equipment and service has not over the course of 60 years. Please enjoy as we celebrate 60 years of The Canadian, the last true streamliner, as we ride the train on its trip west from Toronto to Vancouver! Please rate, comment...
Stephen Spielberg's fascinating movie Saving Private Ryan, released in July 1998, focused public attention on D-Day -- the greatest Allied battle of the Second World War. This time around, it tells of the heroism of the ordinary soldier. They have the resources of Hollywood and the distribution throughout Canada, but American films tend to deflect the equally fascinating achievements of Canadians. This is particularly true of the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944. Canada was allotted one of the toughest objectives -- literally right in the middle of the British sector. As we might expect, these new and realistic portrayals of our great Allies will fail to point out a significant factor -- the Canadians got further inland on D-Day than any of the other Forces involved in the taking of this h...

This beat's got me down, I'm on my knees
It's got a little touch of therapy
There's something in the water making me crazy
If this is do or die, it still doesn't phase me
Count me out
Count me in
I'm ready to begin
(x4)
I've got a fever in my head, it's chillin' my toes
With every single sound my mind explodes
When no-one's watching i'm a-bump-bump-bumpin'
With each new noise I'm a-thump-thump-thumpin'
Count me out
Count me in
I'm ready to begin
(x4)
If I asked you to stay
Would you come back
And dance with me
(x4)
This dance, this beat is bittersweet
Come take the floor and dance with me
(x2)
Count me out
Count me in
I'm ready to begin
