Alex is a common name used in multiple languages. In English, it is usually a diminutive of the male given name Alexander, or its female equivalent Alexandra or Alexandria. Liam Neeson

Liam John Neeson, OBE (born 7 June 1952) is an actor from Northern Ireland. In 1976, he joined the Lyric Players' Theatre in Belfast for two years. He then acted in the Arthurian film, Excalibur (1981). Between 1982 and 1987, Neeson starred in five films; most notably alongside Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins in The Bounty (1984) and Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons in The Mission (1986). He landed a leading role alongside Patrick Swayze in Next of Kin (1989).

He rose to prominence when he starred in the title role in Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar winner Schindler's List. Andrew Rona (July 1971) is an American film producer and movie executive. He was President of Silver Pictures (2008-2014); Rogue Pictures, A division of Universal Pictures (2006-2008) and Dimension Films (1991-2006). Some of the over 100 films he produced are Non-Stop, Project X, Equilibrium, Scream and Scary Movie.

Early life and education

Rona was born in New York. He studied film at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

In 1991, while a student, Rona went to work as an intern for Harvey Weinstein at Miramax Films. Rona went on to become an assistant for the Weinsteins. He was then promoted in 1995 to Director of Development and Production for the new genre label the Weinstein's had launched to compete with Newline Cinema called Dimension Films.

Dimension Films

Rona served as Co-President of Dimension Films from 2001-2006, during which time the company changed its focus from acquiring and co-financing lower budget pictures to producing, marketing and distributing a wider variety of films. Rona supervised more than 60 productions, ranging from thrillers like the Scream franchise, to comedies like the Scary Movie franchise and Bad Santa, and to action films such as Sin City.

Silver Pictures is an American film production company founded by Hollywood producer Joel Silver during 1985. All movies after Ricochet have been distributed by Warner Bros. and its subsidiary New Line Cinema.

In 2012, Joel Silver and Warner Bros. ended their 25-year production, marketing, and distribution relationship. This is due to Joel Silver growing increasingly upset with how Warner Bros. had been handling the marketing and releasing of the films his company produced.

In 2012, Joel Silver and Universal Pictures struck a 5-year marketing and distribution deal, starting with the Liam Neeson action thriller Non-Stop on February 28, 2014. Universal Pictures will not be a production partner with Silver Pictures, only a distributor.
