Monk

A monk (from Greek: μοναχός, monachos, "single, solitary" and Latin monachus) is a person who practices religious asceticism, living either alone or with any number of other monks. A monk may be a person who decided to dedicate his life to serving all other living beings, or to be an ascetic who voluntarily chooses to leave mainstream society and live his life in prayer and contemplation. The concept is ancient and can be seen in many religions and in philosophy.

In the Greek language the term can apply to women, but in modern English it is mainly in use for men. The word nun is typically used for female monastics.

Although the term monachos is of Christian origin, in the English language "monk" tends to be used loosely also for both male and female ascetics from other religious or philosophical backgrounds. However, being generic, it is not interchangeable with terms that denote particular kinds of monk, such as friar, cenobite, hermit, anchorite, hesychast, or solitary.

Mount & Blade

Mount & Blade is a medieval action role-playing game for Microsoft Windows, developed by the Turkish company TaleWorlds, and published by the Swedish company Paradox Interactive. Its retail version was released on September 16, 2007, in North America, and three days later in Europe.

Reception on Mount & Blade has overall been positive. Reviewers praised the game for its innovative combat mechanics, complex character skill system, and large modding community, but also criticized it for its repetitive quests, dialogues, and locations, as well as low graphics quality.

A sequel, Mount & Blade: Warband, was released in March 2010, and a spin-off stand-alone expansion, Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword, based on the historical novel With Fire and Sword, was released in May 2011.

Gameplay

Mount & Blade is a single-player, action-oriented role-playing game without any fantasy elements, which takes place in a medieval land named Calradia. The game features a sandbox gameplay style, in which there is no storyline present. The player is able to join one of the five battling factions, fight as a mercenary, assume the role of an outlaw, or take a neutral side.

Major Ravi

Major A. K. Ravindran (Malayalam:മേജർ രവി), better known by his screen name Major Ravi is a former Indian Army Officer and a Malayali Indian filmmaker.

Personal life

Major Ravi is born to Sri. Kuttisankara Perumbara Nair and Smt. AT Satyabhama in Pattambi, Kerala.

Career

He was a Major in the Indian army. He received President's gallantry medal, joined the Indian army as jawan in 1975 after his schooling and later pursued his studies within the army and graduated from the Army Cadet College to become an officer in the year 1985. He was head of the commando team of the mission code named Operation One-eyed Jack to capture suspects of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, During his commando tenure of four yrs in nsg, he had the opportunity to eliminate 17 dreaded militants in various parts of India. The experiences of which inspired him to direct Keerthi Chakra (film) and Mission 90 Days(2007).

Association with films

After working for around two decades for the Indian Army, he became a military consultant for Indian films. He has worked with Priyadarshan, Rajkumar Santhoshi, Kamal Haasan, and Mani Ratnam. He has earlier made a children's film, Toofan in Hindi in the year 1999, starring Dileep and Saba Khan, which had a last release in 2010, due to censoring issues which is also dubbed into Malayalam as Oru Avadhikaalam. His first feature film is Keerti Chakra, a film on Kashmir militancy.It is a multilingual and emerged as a blockbuster.

Major Mahadevan

Major Mahadevan (Malayalam:മേജര്‍ മഹാദേവന്‍) is a character of an army officer played by the Indian actor Mohanlal in the Major Mahadevan Series of films.

Major Mahadevan is one of the most influential characters to have appeared in this decade of Malayalam cinema. Mohanlal who played Major Mahadevan in Kirthi Chakra (2006) and the same character as Colonel Mahadevan in its sequel Kurukshetra (2008) was given an honorary position as a Lieutenant Colonel of the Territorial Army of India, taking into account his honest portrayal of an army man and the reach the character got through the two movies. A third installment was released in 2010.

Family

In the films, Mahadevan is portrayed as married with one daughter. He lost his wife and daughter in a bomb attack by his enemy. Both wife and daughter appeared in the first film Keerthi Chakra.
