This video provides a true indication of what the Precipice Trail is. Young children and people who are not physically strong or afraid of heights should not attempt this "non technical" climb. Make sure you check with the rangers as this trail can be closed during Peregrine Falcon breeding season. My recommendation for the decent is the newly renovated Orange and Black Trail. After you reach the summit, continue straight and pick up the trail. It is fun and much safer than backing down rungs and ladders.
UPDATE: I would like to send my heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of 22-year old Shirley Ladd who tragically lost her life on the Precipice in July 2012. RIP

Cliff
In geography and geology, a cliff is a vertical, or near vertical, rock exposure. Cliffs are formed as erosion landforms due to the processes of erosion and weathering that produce them. Most cliffs have some form of scree slope at their base. In arid areas or under high cliffs, these are generally exposed jumbles of fallen rock. In areas of higher moisture, a soil slope may obscure the talus. Many cliffs also feature tributary waterfalls or rock shelters. Sometimes a cliff peters out at the end of a ridge, with tea tables or other types of rock columns remaining. Coastal erosion may lead to the formation of sea cliffs along a receding coastline.

This video provides a true indication of what the Precipice Trail is. Young children and people who are not physically strong or afraid of heights should not attempt this "non technical" climb. Make sure you check with the rangers as this trail can be closed during Peregrine Falcon breeding season. My recommendation for the decent is the newly renovated Orange and Black Trail. After you reach the summit, continue straight and pick up the trail. It is fun and much safer than backing down rungs and ladders.
UPDATE: I would like to send my heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of 22-year old Shirley Ladd who tragically lost her life on the Precipice in July 2012. RIP
