Le Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (ou rocher de Vélez de la Gomera, rocher de Badis ou simplement Badis pour les Marocains1) est une presqu'île située au Royaume du Maroc, à 260 km à l'ouest de Melilla et à 117 km au sud-est de Ceuta. Elle est possession de l'Espagne depuis 1564, après avoir déjà été occupée entre 1508 et 1522, mais est revendiquée par le royaume du Maroc qui ne reconnaît pas la souveraineté espagnole.
Les militaires de la petite caserne du Cuerpo de Regulares de l'Armée de terre espagnole sont les seuls habitants de l'île.

El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (35°11′39″N 4°13′04″O / 35.19417, -4.21778) es una península española (originalmente isla) situada en el norte de África, a 126 km al oeste de Melilla y a 117 km al sudeste de Ceuta, unida al continente por una estrecha franja de arena. Tiene una extensión de 19.000 m2 aproximadamente y una altitud máxima de 87 m sobre el nivel del mar. Su única población es la pequeña guarnición militar existente en el mismo, perteneciente al Cuerpo de Regulares.
Esta isla es uno de los enclaves militares de España en el norte de África, en la costa que se extiende entre Ceuta y Melilla, cuya posesión retuvo España después de la independencia de Marruecos, debido al hecho de que su posesión databa de fechas anteriores a la propia existencia del reino marroquí y no estaba por tanto sujeta al protectorado.
En concreto este peñón fue ocupado por primera vez por los españoles el 23 de julio de 1508, cuando una escuadra española mandada por Pedro Navarro aniquiló al poderoso núcleo de piratas que lo defendían. En 1522 Muley Mohamed, señor del territorio en el que se encontraba el Peñón, consiguió apoderarse del mismo. Finalmente, el 6 de septiembre de 1564, García Álvarez de Toledo y Osorio, marqués de Villafranca y Virrey de Cataluña, recupera el Peñón para España por orden de Felipe II. Para ello contó con una Armada compuesta por 93 galeras y 60 buques menores. El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera se ha mantenido ininterrumpidamente bajo soberanía española desde ese momento. En 1921, en el contexto de la Guerra de Marruecos, se decidió reforzar la presencia española en el mismo. El peñón fue atacado, teniendo que ser abastecido por submarinos

La playa es una maravilla y la ciudad de Alhucemas es otra belleza impresionante.

Posiblemente sera uno de los rincones mas bellos de España, con gran historia y el mas desconocido. Anteriormente fue una isla, base de piratas Berberiscos, actualmente es una península debido a un terremoto que la unió a la costa y una de las fronteras mas pequeñas del mundo.
Para llegar ahi, hay que atravesar una pista a través del parque natural de Alhucemas.

La Gomera (pronounced: [la ɣoˈmeɾa]) is one of Spain's Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. In area, it is the second-smallest of the seven main islands of this group. It belongs to the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its capital is San Sebastián de La Gomera, where the headquarters of the Cabildo are located.
Political organisation
La Gomera is part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is divided into six municipalities:
The island government (cabildo insular) is located in the capital, San Sebastián.
Geography
The island is of volcanic origin and roughly circular; it is about 22 kilometres (14 miles) in diameter. The island is very mountainous and steeply sloping and rises to 1,487 metres (4,879 ft) at the island's highest peak, Alto de Garajonay. Its shape is rather like an orange that has been cut in half and then split into segments, which has left deep ravines or barrancos between them.

Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera
Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (Spanish pronunciation: [peˈɲon de ˈβeleθ ðe la ɣoˈmeɾa]), in ancient times Badis or Bades, is a Spanish rock (plaza de soberanía) in North Africa off the Moroccan coast. It is part of several peñones, or rock-fortresses, on the coast of Northern Africa. Vélez de la Gomera is administered by the Spanish central government. Its tiny population consists only of military personnel.
Geography
Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera is located 119 km southeast of Ceuta. It was a natural island in the Alboran Sea until 1934, when a huge thunderstorm washed large quantities of sand in the short channel between the island and the African continent, turning it into a tombolo. Ever since, it has been a peninsula, currently connected to the Moroccan coast by an 85 m long sandy isthmus, the world's shortest land border. With a length of 400 meters northwest-southeast and a width of up to 100 meters, it covers about 19,000 m² or 1.9 ha.
History
Portugal and Spain passed an agreement in 1496 in which they effectively established their zones of influence on the North African coast: Spain could only occupy territory east of Peñón de Vélez. This restriction would only end with the absorption of Portugal into the Spanish crown of Philip II after the 1578 Battle of Ksar El Kebir, when Spain started to take direct actions in Morocco, as in the occupation of Larache.

El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (35°11′39″N 4°13′04″O / 35.19417, -4.21778) es una península española (originalmente isla) situada en el norte de África, a 126 km al oeste de Melilla y a 117 km al sudeste de Ceuta, unida al continente por una estrecha franja de arena. Tiene una extensión de 19.000 m2 aproximadamente y una altitud máxima de 87 m sobre el nivel del mar. Su única población es la pequeña guarnición militar existente en el mismo, perteneciente al Cuerpo de Regulares.
Esta isla es uno de los enclaves militares de España en el norte de África, en la costa que se extiende entre Ceuta y Melilla, cuya posesión retuvo España después de la independencia de Marruecos, debido al hecho de que su posesión databa de fechas anteriores a la propia existencia del reino marroquí y no estaba por tanto sujeta al protectorado.
En concreto este peñón fue ocupado por primera vez por los españoles el 23 de julio de 1508, cuando una escuadra española mandada por Pedro Navarro aniquiló al poderoso núcleo de piratas que lo defendían. En 1522 Muley Mohamed, señor del territorio en el que se encontraba el Peñón, consiguió apoderarse del mismo. Finalmente, el 6 de septiembre de 1564, García Álvarez de Toledo y Osorio, marqués de Villafranca y Virrey de Cataluña, recupera el Peñón para España por orden de Felipe II. Para ello contó con una Armada compuesta por 93 galeras y 60 buques menores. El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera se ha mantenido ininterrumpidamente bajo soberanía española desde ese momento. En 1921, en el contexto de la Guerra de Marruecos, se decidió reforzar la presencia española en el mismo. El peñón fue atacado, teniendo que ser abastecido por submarinos

Personal Travel: La Gomera (Canary Island, Spain) Excursion
On our 3rd day in Tenerife, we went for a whole day excursion with the fast ferry ride to the capital of Christopher Columbus island, San Sebastian de la Gomera. We visited Asuncion church, "Columbus house" and, the Hermitage of San Sebastian. We also saw the Carboneras Mirador (observation platform), where we stopped to enjoy the spectacular view. Next point was the valley of Hermigua and then into part of the Garajonay National Park with her lush flora and fauna. This was declared as UNIVERSAL PATRIMONY BY THE UNESCO. On our 3rd day in Tenerife, we went for a whole day excursion
with the fast ferry ride to the capital of Christopher Columbus island, San Sebastian de la Gomera...
On our 3rd day in Tenerife, we went for a whole day excursion
with the fast ferry ride to the capital of Christopher Columbus island, San Sebastian de la Gomera.
We visited Asuncion church, "Columbus house" and, the Hermitage of San Sebastian. We also saw the Carboneras Mirador (observation platform), where we stopped to enjoy the spectacular view. Next point was the valley of Hermigua and then into part of the Garajonay National Park with her lush flora and fauna. This was declared as UNIVERSAL PATRIMONY BY THE UNESCO.
We arrived at the small village of Las Osas, where we stopped for a tytpical island lunch and a demonstration of the local whistling language.

Some facts about Tenerife:
Tenerife is the largest and most populated island of the seven Canary Islands.
About five million tourists visit Tenerife each year, the most of any of the Canary Islands. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain and the world.
Tenerife hosts one of the world's largest carnivals and the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is working to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Served by two airports, Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport, Tenerife is the economic centre of the archipelago.
The 1977 collision of two Boeing 747 passenger jets at Tenerife North Airport, resulting in 583 deaths, remains the deadliest aviation accident in world history.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island and the seat of the island council (cabildo insular).
The city is capital of the autonomous community of Canary Islands (shared with Las Palmas), sharing governmental institutions such as Presidency and ministries.
Between the 1833 territorial division of Spain and 1927, Santa Cruz de Tenerife was the sole capital of the Canary Islands. In 1927 the Crown ordered that the capital of the Canary Islands be shared, as it remains at present.
Santa Cruz contains the modern Auditorio de Tenerife, the architectural symbol of the Canary Islands.
The island is home to the University of La Laguna; founded in 1792 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, it is the oldest university in the Canaries. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city is the second to have been founded on the island,
and is the third of the archipelago. The city of La Laguna was capital of the Canary Islands before Santa Cruz replaced it in 1833.
Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site in the center of the island, has Teide, the highest elevation of Spain, the highest of the islands of the Atlantic Ocean, and the third-largest volcano in the world from its base.
Also located on the island, Macizo de Anaga since 2015 has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It has the largest number of endemic species in Europe.

El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (35°11′39″N 4°13′04″O / 35.19417, -4.21778) es una península española (originalmente isla) situada en el norte de África, a 126 km al oeste de Melilla y a 117 km al sudeste de Ceuta, unida al continente por una estrecha franja de arena. Tiene una extensión de 19.000 m2 aproximadamente y una altitud máxima de 87 m sobre el nivel del mar. Excursión Alhucemas y Peñon de Velez de la Gomera - jul´15
Nuestros amigos Elisabeth y Sergio nos comentan que les parece la excursión de Alhucemas y Peñón de Velez de la Gomera en el parque natural de Alhucemas en Marruecos. Al fondo, rodeado por mar excepto por un pequeño Istmo de arena, podemos contemplar imponente, el peñon de Velez de la Gomera, uno de los rincones mas recónditos y bellos de España, Separado por una cuerda en la arena de Marruecos, es una de las fronteras mas pequeñas del mundo. La playa es una maravilla y la ciudad de Alhucemas es otra belleza impresionante. Gracias Elisabeth y Sergio por vuestras palabras.

Peñón de Velez de la Gomera - Excursion de Alhucemas
Posiblemente sera uno de los rincones mas bellos de España, con gran historia y el mas desconocido. Anteriormente fue una isla, base de piratas Berberiscos, actualmente es una península debido a un terremoto que la unió a la costa y una de las fronteras mas pequeñas del mundo. Para llegar ahi, hay que atravesar una pista a través del parque natural de Alhucemas.

El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera (35°11′39″N 4°13′04″O / 35.19417, -4.21778) es una península española (originalmente isla) situada en el norte de África, a 126 km al oeste de Melilla y a 117 km al sudeste de Ceuta, unida al continente por una estrecha franja de arena. Tiene una extensión de 19.000 m2 aproximadamente y una altitud máxima de 87 m sobre el nivel del mar. Su única población es la pequeña guarnición militar existente en el mismo, perteneciente al Cuerpo de Regulares.
Esta isla es uno de los enclaves militares de España en el norte de África, en la costa que se extiende entre Ceuta y Melilla, cuya posesión retuvo España después de la independencia de Marruecos, debido al hecho de que su posesión databa de fechas anteriores a la propia existencia del reino marroquí y no estaba por tanto sujeta al protectorado.
En concreto este peñón fue ocupado por primera vez por los españoles el 23 de julio de 1508, cuando una escuadra española mandada por Pedro Navarro aniquiló al poderoso núcleo de piratas que lo defendían. En 1522 Muley Mohamed, señor del territorio en el que se encontraba el Peñón, consiguió apoderarse del mismo. Finalmente, el 6 de septiembre de 1564, García Álvarez de Toledo y Osorio, marqués de Villafranca y Virrey de Cataluña, recupera el Peñón para España por orden de Felipe II. Para ello contó con una Armada compuesta por 93 galeras y 60 buques menores. El Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera se ha mantenido ininterrumpidamente bajo soberanía española desde ese momento. En 1921, en el contexto de la Guerra de Marruecos, se decidió reforzar la presencia española en el mismo. El peñón fue atacado, teniendo que ser abastecido por submarinos
