Alma Rubens was an American film actress and stage performer born on February 19, 1897. Rubens began her career in the mid 1910s. She quickly rose to stardom in 1916 after appearing opposite Douglas Fairbanks in The Half Breed. For the remainder of the decade, she appeared in supporting roles in comedies and drama.
Rubens married three times. Her first marriage was to actor Franklyn Farnum, nearly twenty years her senior, in June 1918. The couple married secretly and separated about two months later. In November 1923, she married Dr. Daniel Carson Goodman, an author and film producer. The marriage was brief and a suit for divorce was filed in January 1925. During the next two years, she made several films for the Fox Film Corporation. When her contract expired, she went to Europe with actor Ricardo Cortez and married him in February 1926. At the time of her death, Rubens was suing Cortez for divorce. Cortez claimed he had not been notified of his wife's death, and later remarked that he had not seen her for several months and was unaware that she was seriously ill.
Shortly after being arrested on narcotics charge Rubens contracted a cold that quickly developed into pneumonia. She fell into a coma at the Los Angeles home of her friend, Dr. Charles J. Pflueger. She died on January 22, 1931 at the age of 33 having never regained consciousness.

"The Mystery of the Leaping Fish" (1916) is a short film starring Douglas Fairbanks and Bessie Love. In this unusually broad comedy for Fairbanks, the acrobatic leading man plays "Coke Ennyday," a cocaine-shooting detective parody of Sherlock Holmes given to injecting himself with cocaine from a bandolier of syringes worn across his chest and liberally helping himself to the contents of a hatbox-sized round container of white powder labeled "COCAINE" on his desk.
The film, written by D.W. Griffith, Tod Browning, and Anita Loos, displays a lighthearted attitude toward cocaine and opium. Fairbanks otherwise lampoons Sherlock Holmes with checkered detective hat, coat, and even car, along with the aforementioned propensity for injecting cocaine whenever he feels momentarily down, then laughing with delight. In addition to observing visitors at his door on what appears to be a closed-circuit television referred to in the title cards as his "scientific periscope," a clock-like sign on the wall reminds him to choose between "EATS, DRINKS, SLEEPS, and DOPE".
Although the deerstalker hat and cocaine references make The Mystery of the Leaping Fish a spoof of Sherlock Holmes, the name "Coke Ennyday" is play on Craig Kennedy, the American version of Holmes who debuted in the December 10 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Early life
She was born Alma Genevieve Reubens to John B. and Theresa (née Hayes) Rueben in San Francisco, California. Her father was of French descent and her mother was of Irish heritage. She had an older sister, Hazel. She was raised in the Roman Catholic faith and attended Sacred Heart Convent in San Francisco. Some biographies erroneously state that her birth name was Genevieve Driscoll. The name was in fact a pseudonym that she later used in a non-professional capacity, as Genevieve was her middle name and Driscoll was her maternal grandmother's maiden name.

Early life
Fairbanks was born Douglas Elton Thomas Ullman (spelled "Ulman" by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. in his memoirs) in Denver, Colorado, the son of H. Charles Ullman (born September 15, 1833) and Ella Adelaide (née Marsh; born 1847). He had two half-brothers, John Fairbanks, Jr. (born 1873) and Norris Wilcox (February 20, 1876 - October 21, 1946), and a full brother, Robert Payne Ullman (March 13, 1882 – February 22, 1948).

Peter Paul Rubens
Sir Peter Paul Rubens (/ˈruːbənz/;Dutch: [ˈrybə(n)s]; 28 June 1577 – 30 May 1640) was a Flemish Baroque painter. A proponent of an extravagant Baroque style that emphasized movement, colour, and sensuality, Rubens is well known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects.
In addition to running a large studio in Antwerp that produced paintings popular with nobility and art collectors throughout Europe, Rubens was a classically educated humanist scholar and diplomat who was knighted by both Philip IV of Spain and Charles I of England.
Biography
Early life
Rubens was born in the city of Siegen to Jan Rubens and Maria Pypelincks. His father, a Calvinist, and mother fled Antwerp for Cologne in 1568, after increased religious turmoil and persecution of Protestants during the rule of the Spanish Netherlands by the Duke of Alba.
Jan Rubens became the legal adviser (and lover) of Anna of Saxony, the second wife of William I of Orange, and settled at her court in Siegen in 1570, fathering her daughter Christine who was born in 1571.

For the remainder of the decade, she appeared in supporting roles in comedies and drama. In the 1920s, Rubens developed a drug addiction which eventually ended her career. She died of lobar pneumonia and bronchitis shortly after being arrested for cocaine possession in early January 1931.

Alma Rubens was an American film actress and stage performer born on February 19, 1897. Rubens began her career in the mid 1910s. She quickly rose to stardom in 1916 after appearing opposite Douglas Fairbanks in The Half Breed. For the remainder of the decade, she appeared in supporting roles in comedies and drama.
Rubens married three times. Her first marriage was to actor Franklyn Farnum, nearly twenty years her senior, in June 1918. The couple married secretly and separated about two months later. In November 1923, she married Dr. Daniel Carson Goodman, an author and film producer. The marriage was brief and a suit for divorce was filed in January 1925. During the next two years, she made several films for the Fox Film Corporation. When her contract expired, she went to Europe with actor Ricardo Cortez and married him in February 1926. At the time of her death, Rubens was suing Cortez for divorce. Cortez claimed he had not been notified of his wife's death, and later remarked that he had not seen her for several months and was unaware that she was seriously ill.
Shortly after being arrested on narcotics charge Rubens contracted a cold that quickly developed into pneumonia. She fell into a coma at the Los Angeles home of her friend, Dr. Charles J. Pflueger. She died on January 22, 1931 at the age of 33 having never regained consciousness.

In this unusually broad comedy for Fairbanks, the acrobatic leading man plays "Coke Ennyday," a cocaine-shooting detective parody of Sherlock Holmes given to injecting himself with cocaine from a bandolier of syringes worn across his chest and liberally helping himself to the contents of a hatbox-sized round container of white powder labeled "COCAINE" on his desk.
The film, written by D.W. Griffith, Tod Browning, and Anita Loos, displays a lighthearted attitude toward cocaine and opium. Fairbanks otherwise lampoons Sherlock Holmes with checkered detective hat, coat, and even car, along with the aforementioned propensity for injecting cocaine whenever he feels momentarily down, then laughing with delight. In addition to observing visitors at his door on what appears to be a closed-circuit television referred to in the title cards as his "scientific periscope," a clock-like sign on the wall reminds him to choose between "EATS, DRINKS, SLEEPS, and DOPE".
Although the deerstalker hat and cocaine references make The Mystery of the Leaping Fish a spoof of Sherlock Holmes, the name "Coke Ennyday" is play on Craig Kennedy, the American version of Holmes who debuted in the December 10 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

An astute businessman, Fairbanks was a founding member of United Artists. Fairbanks was also a founding member of The Motion Picture Academy and hosted the first Oscars Ceremony in 1929. With his marriage to Mary Pickford in 1920, the couple became Hollywood royalty and Fairbanks was referred to as "The King of Hollywood", a nickname later passed on to actor Clark Gable. His career rapidly declined with the advent of the "talkies". His final film was The Private Life of Don Juan (1934).

Mario Orlando Hardy Hamlet Brenno Benedetti Farrugia (Paso de los Toros, 14 de septiembre de 1920 - Montevideo, 17 de mayo de 2009), más conocido como Mario Benedetti, fue un escritor, poeta y dramaturgo uruguayo. Fue integrante de la Generación del '45. Su prolífica producción literaria incluyó más de 80 libros, algunos de los cuales fueron traducidos a más de 20 idiomas.
Mario Benedetti fue hijo de Brenno Benedetti y Matilde Farrugia. Residió en Paso de los Toros junto a su familia durante los primeros dos años de su vida. La familia luego se trasladó a Tacuarembó por asuntos de negocios. Tras una fallida estadía en ese sitio (donde fueron víctimas de una estafa ), se trasladaron a Montevideo, cuando Mario Benedetti contaba con cuatro años de edad. Inició sus estudios primarios en 1928, en el Colegio Alemán de Montevideo, de donde es retirado en 1933. En consecuencia, ingresa al Liceo Miranda por un año. Sus estudios secundarios los realizó de manera incompleta en 1935, en el Liceo Miranda, para continuar de manera libre, por problemas económicos. Desde los catorce años trabajó en la empresa Will L. Smith, S.A., repuestos para automóviles.
Entre 1938 y 1941 residió casi continuamente en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
En 1943 dirige la revista literaria Marginalia. Publica el volumen de ensayos Peripecia y novelas"
En 1945 se integró al equipo de redacción del semanario Marcha, donde permaneció hasta 1974, año en que fue clausurado por el gobierno de Juan María Bordaberry. El 23 de marzo de 1946 contrae matrimonio con Luz López Alegre, su gran amor y compañera de vida. En 1954 es nombrado director literario de dicho semanario.
A partir de 1950 es miembro del consejo de redacción de Número, una de las revistas literarias más destacadas de la época. Participa activamente en el movimiento contra el Tratado Militar con los Estados Unidos. Es su primera acción como militante. Ese mismo año obtuvo el Premio del Ministerio de Instrucción Pública por su primera compilación de cuentos, Esta mañana. Fue ganador del galardón en repetidas ocasiones hasta 1958, cuando renunció sistemáticamente a él por discrepancias con su reglamentación.
En 1964 trabaja como crítico de teatro y codirector la página literaria semanal «Al pie de las letras» del diario La mañana. Colabora como humorista en la revista Peloduro. Escribe crítica de cine en La Tribuna Popular. Vuelve a Cuba para participar en el jurado del concurso Casa de las Américas. Participa en el encuentro sobre Rubén Darío. Viaja a México para participar en el II Congreso Latinoamericano de Escritores. Mario Orlando Hardy Hamlet Brenno Benedetti Farrugia (Paso de los Toros, 14 de septiembre de 1920 - Montevideo, 17 de mayo de 2009), más conocido como Mario Benedetti, fue un escritor, poeta y dramaturgo uruguayo. Fue integrante de la Generación del '45. Su prolífica producción literaria incluyó más de 80 libros, algunos de los cuales fueron traducidos a más de 20 idiomas.
Mario Benedetti fue hijo de Brenno Benedetti y Matilde Farrugia. Residió en Paso de los Toros junto a su familia durante los primeros dos años de su vida. La familia luego se trasladó a Tacuarembó por asuntos de negocios. Tras una fallida estadía en ese sitio (donde fueron víctimas de una estafa ), se trasladaron a Montevideo, cuando Mario Benedetti contaba con cuatro años de edad. Inició sus estudios primarios en 1928, en el Colegio Alemán de Montevideo, de donde es retirado en 1933. En consecuencia, ingresa al Liceo Miranda por un año. Sus estudios secundarios los realizó de manera incompleta en 1935, en el Liceo Miranda, para continuar de manera libre, por problemas económicos. Desde los catorce años trabajó en la empresa Will L. Smith, S.A., repuestos para automóviles.
Entre 1938 y 1941 residió casi continuamente en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
En 1943 dirige la revista literaria Marginalia. Publica el volumen de ensayos Peripecia y novelas"
En 1945 se integró al equipo de redacción del semanario Marcha, donde permaneció hasta 1974, año en que fue clausurado por el gobierno de Juan María Bordaberry. El 23 de marzo de 1946 contrae matrimonio con Luz López Alegre, su gran amor y compañera de vida. En 1954 es nombrado director literario de dicho semanario.
A partir de 1950 es miembro del consejo de redacción de Número, una de las revistas literarias más destacadas de la época. Participa activamente en el movimiento contra el Tratado Militar con los Estados Unidos. Es su primera acción como militante. Ese mismo año obtuvo el Premio del Ministerio de Instrucción Pública por su primera compilación de cuentos, Esta mañana. Fue ganador del galardón en repetidas ocasiones hasta 1958, cuando renunció sistemáticamente a él por discrepancias con su reglamentación.
En 1964 trabaja como crítico de teatro y codirector la página literaria semanal «Al pie de las letras» del diario La mañana. Colabora como humorista en la revista Peloduro. Escribe crítica de cine en La Tribuna Popular. Vuelve a Cuba para participar en el jurado del concurso Casa de las Américas. Participa en el encuentro sobre Rubén Darío. Viaja a México para participar en el II Congreso Latinoamericano de Escritores. Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, the soon-to-be-released collab single of the year is about to light up the dark. Quite frankly, it was just a matter of time until two of the internationally most sought after DJs and producers teamed up to gift the dance music genre its musical highlight of 2016; as Robin Schulz, Germany’s most successful artist of the past two decades, joins forces with France’s critically acclaimed record-breaker David Guetta, a dance floor authority in his own right.
The two megastars are set to premier their new single “Shed a Light (feat. Cheat Codes)”, a dance pop ballad that is bound to leave a lasting impression across the globe. This is due in part to the seemingly perfect chemistry between the two award-winning artists: “I have been supporting Robin since day one,” says Guetta. “We have been touring together and for this particular track I was very excited to work with him. Robin’s tracks are very musical and emotional. So to me working with Robin was an obvious choice. It felt like the right match.”
The love and respect these extraordinary artists have for one another is mutual to say the least: “I’m very excited about the upcoming collaboration with my friend David Guetta. I think ‘Shed A Light’ is a fantastic combination, which is characterized by both styles, perfectly supported by the great voice of Cheat Codes,” adds the Osnabrück-born Robin Schulz.

Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, the soon-to-be-released collab single of the year is about to light up the dark. Quite frankly, it was just a matter of time until two of the internationally most sought after DJs and producers teamed up to gift the dance music genre its musical highlight of 2016; as Robin Schulz, Germany’s most successful artist of the past two decades, joins forces with France’s critically acclaimed record-breaker David Guetta, a dance floor authority in his own right.
The two megastars are set to premier their new single “Shed a Light (feat. Cheat Codes)”, a dance pop ballad that is bound to leave a lasting impression across the globe. Pedro Gerardo Torruelas (, 2 noviembre 1964 Puerto Rico ), más conocido como DJ Playero , fue una figura clave en la difusión de reggaeton durante su período de formación en la década de 1990 en San Juan , Puerto Rico . A partir de principios del ' 90, se produjo una serie de mixtapes que sintetizaron hip-hop y el reggae con ritmos freestyle en español. Estas cintas circulaban alrededor de los barrios de San Juan y fueron una gran influencia sobre la generación que pasaría a definir el reggaeton en la próxima década. Por ejemplo, Daddy Yankee se inició con DJ Playero, que debuta en el Mixtape Playero 34 , el cual fue grabado en un pequeño estudio en una de caseríos de Puerto Rico y fue lanzado originalmente en 1992. DJ Playero fue productor aspirante en el momento, con créditos que incluyen el trabajo en la compilación seminal Dancehall Reggaespañol (1991, Columbia Records), además del trabajo de producción con 3-2 Get Funky ( 3-2 Get Funky , 1993; Retorno de los más cobardes , 1994), situándose en piedra ( diferentes Estilos , 1995), Wiso G ( Estoy Aqui , 1996), y Wendellman ( Wendellman , 1996). Durante finales de los años 90, como el estilo proto-reggaeton comenzó a crecer popular gracias a 'The Noise', una colectiva basada en el club que emitió una serie de larga duración de los CD, DJ Playero comenzó a volver a emitir sus viejos mixtapes de la primera mitad -'90s. También grabó otros nuevos, su emisión a través de Registros BM también. Playero en DVD: Su Trayectoria (2003) fue la culminación de esta actividad, con el objetivo de cimentar su legado como uno de los pioneros del reggaetón clave.
