In ecology, sustainability is the capacity to endure; it is how biological systems remain diverse and productive indefinitely. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems. In more general terms, sustainability is the endurance of systems and processes. The organizing principle for sustainability is sustainable development, which includes the four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture.Sustainability science is the study of sustainable development and environmental science.
Sustainability can also be defined as the ability to be sustained, supported, upheld, or confirmed.
Healthy ecosystems and environments are necessary to the survival of humans and other organisms. Ways of reducing negative human impact are environmentally-friendly chemical engineering, environmental resources management and environmental protection. Information is gained from green chemistry, earth science, environmental science and conservation biology. Ecological economics studies the fields of academic research that aim to address human economies and natural ecosystems.

http://mocomi.com/ presents: What is Sustainability? An informative video on Sustainability, For humans, sustainability is the potential for long-term maintenance of well being, which has ecological, economic, political and cultural dimensions. Here are a few ways in which your actions can contribute to sustainability. Lifestyle - Your lifestyle is your choice and you can change it. For example, when you go to the grocery store, make sure you always carry a cloth bag. This way the shopkeeper does not have to give you many plastic bags. Fixing - If your watch, or a toy, or a camera is broken or not working, try getting it fixed before you buy yourself a new one. Recycle - Try and be conscious about the things around you. When you consume something, see if you can re-use it later. Lea...
This video provides a basic definition of sustainability. You’ve probably heard the term “sustainability” in some context or another. It is likely that you’ve used some product or service that was labeled as sustainable, or perhaps you are aware of a campus or civic organization that focuses on sustainability. You may recognize that sustainability has to do with preserving or maintaining resources—we often associate sustainability with things like recycling, using renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, and preserving natural spaces like rainforests and coral reefs. However, unless you have an inherent interest in sustainability, you probably haven’t thought much about what the term actually means. Simply put, sustainability is the capacity to endure or continue. If a produc...
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What are we doing to ourselves when we tell ourselves constantly - through the medium of ever-more pervasive advertising - that we are Consumers? And what would it look like to put all the creativity that currently goes into that, into involving people in society as Citizens? Jon spent a decade working at big name ad agencies, on some of the world's biggest brands, all the while asking deeper and deeper questions about the role of his industry in society. His conclusions will shock and inspire you. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Talk (with Q&A;) by Richard D. Wolff on "Economic Justice, Sustainability and Transition Beyond Capitalism" recorded October 27, 2015 at the Communications Building, University of Washington, Seattle.
Have you noticed the word "sustainability" creep into our language? Environmental problems are being used as an excuse to introduce measures to centrally control all land, all people and all the environment. This fraudulent plan aims to get world consensus on the issue of climate change. As I have shown in previous shows there is no evidence whatsoever that UK flooding has been caused by climate change. The flooding in Cumbria was caused by incompetent management of the water system. Not only is the alleged "problem" a fraud - there are already many solutions to create clean energy, all of which have been made secret or suppressed. So the "sustainability" band-wagon is a con for TWO reasons. They trumpet a fake problem, having hidden all possible solutions. Then introduce draconian rules t...

Since 1976, he has extensively studied the effect our food choices have on our health and the immense impact those choices have on our environment. He speaks from the heart while offering compelling and oft shocking research about food choice and how it silently remains the single-most destructive aspect of global depletion. With his work, Dr. Oppenlander offers his perspectives and solutions to our food choices and putting an end to the destruction of our natural resources....
