Happy Halloween at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!!! Come celebrate with all students from four houses and Hogwarts staff, and have a great feast under magical fire, pumpkins and the company of ghosts! **CLICK TO VIEW MORE**
Every year, Hogwarts celebrates Halloween with magical decorations (thanks Hagrid for the oversized pumpkins!) and delicious feast (thanks Dobby and other house-elves!). Harry, Ron and Hermione certainly missed a feast or two because mischievousness ;) But this year, they will join the rest of us at the Halloween party! Which table would you sit at? Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin? What is your costume or magic spell that you've prepared to WOW everybody? The feast will begin in one hour, can you hear the excited students? ;)
The Great Hall in Hogwarts Castle is the main gathering area in the school located off the Entrance Hall. Students eat their meals, receive daily owl post, and have certain special events here. The Great Hall is a large hall that can easily hold all of the school's students, staff, and guests. It has tall walls that reach up to the ceiling, which is covered with candles and enchanted to look like the sky above. At the front of the hall, is the staff table, also known as the High Table, which is designed to house the entire Hogwarts staff. Don't you want to sit at the Great Hall and admire the magical enhanced ceiling and enjoy the meal...? Come join us this year!

The Great Hall will be a one-stop shop for students and the local community, featuring a sports complex, swimming pool and facilities for graduations, exams, corporate and cultural events.

Great hall
A great hall is the main room of a royal palace, nobleman's castle or a large manor house or hall house in the Middle Ages, and continued to be built in the country houses of the 16th and early 17th centuries, although by then the family used the great chamber for eating and relaxing. At that time the word "great" simply meant big, and had not acquired its modern connotations of excellence. In the medieval period the room would simply have been referred to as the "hall", unless the building also had a secondary hall, but the term "great hall" has been predominant for surviving rooms of this type for several centuries, to distinguish them from the different type of hall found in post-medieval houses. Great halls were found especially in France, England and Scotland, but similar rooms were also found in some other European countries.
A typical great hall was a rectangular room between one and a half and three times as long as it was wide, and also higher than it was wide. It was entered through a screens passage at one end, and had windows on one of the long sides, often including a large bay window. There was often a minstrels' gallery above the screens passage. At the other end of the hall was the dais where the top table was situated. The lord's family's more private rooms lay beyond the dais end of the hall, and the kitchen, buttery and pantry were on the opposite side of the screens passage.
