A prefecture (from the Latin Praefectura) is an administrative jurisdiction or subdivision in any of various countries and within some international church structures, and in antiquity a Roman district governed by an appointed prefect.
Prefecture most commonly refers to a self-governing body or area since the tetrarchy when Emperor Diocletian divided the Roman Empire into four districts (each divided into dioceses, grouped under a Vicarius (a number of Roman provinces, listed under that article), although he maintained two pretorian prefectures as an administrative level above the also surviving dioceses (a few of which were split).
As canon law is strongly inspired by Roman law, it is not surprising that the Catholic Church has several offices under a prefect. That term occurs also in otherwise styled offices, such as the head of a congregation or department of the Roman Curia. Various ecclesiastical areas, too small for a diocese, are termed prefects.

Nara prefecture is in the Kansai region of Japan near Kyoto and Osaka. The prefectural capital Nara City is home to eight temples, shrines, and ruins from the ancient first capital of Japan: Todai-ji, Saidai-ji, Kofuku-ji, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Gango-ji, Yakushi-ji, Toshodai-ji, and the Heijo Palace, together with Kasugayama Primeval Forest. These inspiring sites collectively form the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara” a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nara is also famous for its furry ambassadors, the tame deer who roam through the town, especially in Nara Park. Snack vendors sell “shika sembei” (deer biscuits) to visitors so they can feed the deer. The 311 Tsunami at Kamaishi port in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Notes: This video is somehow unique, since it shows the actual comings and goings of the tsunami and not just the arrival of the biggest wave. It starts a couple of minutes after the earthquake, probably somewhere around 2:50 and 2:55 pm and then goes on for at least one and a half hour, plus some footage of the night and the next day. You can see how the water level falls in the minutes after the earthquake, the sign of an approaching tsunami. Then around 18:00 the tsunami begins to flood the port. The most impressive footage occurs during the two minutes after 24:00, then the tsunami overcomes the seawalls and smashes with incredible force into the city. The building from which this video was shot can be seen on a NHK vide...

The 311 tsunami at Cape Hirota, near the city of Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Notes: If you study the video carefully, you can see that the tsunami comes in several sweeps, but without much retreating between those sweeps. The initial wave comes at 01:40, a second and highest one arrives at 10:30. It's interesting to see that in this case, the tsunami doesn't resemble a wave, but more a incredibly fast and high rising tide. The highest water level can be observed at 12:30. Its hard to see, but if you compare the height of the central power pole in the harbor with what's actually sticking out of the water at that moment (only the tip of the pole), then the tsunami height must've been easily ten meters or more.
The 311 tsunami at the Sendai Airport area in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, as filmed from a news helicopter. Notes: It's incredible, for how long the wave keeps pushing forward. Moreover, it has so much momentum, that its front is still traveling farther inlands, while the coast regions are already nearly dry again!
Shimane Prefecture (島根県 Shimane-ken?) is a prefecture of Japan located in the Chūgoku region on Honshū island.[1] The capital is Matsue.[2] It is the second least populous prefecture in Japan, after its eastern neighbor Tottori. The prefecture has an area elongated from east to west facing the Chūgoku Mountain Range on the south side and to the Sea of Japan on the north side. It is divided into the Izumo Region in the East, the Iwami Region in the West and the Oki Region, a small group of islands off the northern coast. Most of the cities are near the shoreline of the Sea of Japan. Izumo Taisha in Izumo City is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan.
I’m still a young man
So I think very little of death
Who really does, ‘til its coming for them?
And I know with each breath I come one closer
But death is just a hook behind the door
Where I’ll leave my dirty clothes
They may dump my body in the sea
Spread my ashes miles wide,
It won’t matter,
All my parts will realign.
They rush to find each other
When they hear their Lover’s cry,
And death will be abandoned
When He comes back for His bride
Saints are never buried,
They are seeds planted
Who bring about a greater harvest when
They burst forth from
The earth that needed their fruits,
But it could never hope to make
Enough room for their roots.
(Ah Ah Ah Ah Oh)
Death is swallowed up,
(Ah Ah Ah Ah Oh)
It owns nothing in me,
(Ah Ah Ah Ah Oh)
Oh, death is swallowed up,
(Ah Ah Ah Ah Oh)
It owns nothing in me,
Oh, precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His faithful ones.
Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His faithful ones,
Oh, death is swallowed up.
Oh, it was always you, it was always you.
Oh, it was always you, it was always you.
Oh, it was always you, it was always you.
Oh, it was always you, it was always you.
