Oregon (i/ˈɔːrᵻɡən/ AWR-ə-gən) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Oregon is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Washington, on the south by California, on the east by Idaho, and on the southeast by Nevada. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary, and the Snake River delineates much of the eastern boundary. The parallel 42° north delineates the southern boundary with California and Nevada. It is one of only three states of the contiguous United States to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean, and the proximity to the ocean heavily influences the state's mild winter climate, despite the latitude.
Oregon was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before Western traders, explorers, and settlers arrived. An autonomous government was formed in the Oregon Country in 1843, the Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859. Today, at 98,000 square miles, Oregon is the ninth largest and, with a population of 4 million, 26th most populous U.S. state. The capital of Oregon is Salem, the second most populous of its cities, with 160,614 residents (2013 estimate). With 609,456 residents (2013 estimate), Portland is the largest city in Oregon and ranks 29th in the U.S. Its metro population of 2,314,554 (2013 estimate) is 24th. The Willamette Valley in western Oregon is the state's most densely populated area, home to eight of the ten most populous cities.
A mirror is an object that reflects light in such a way that, for incident light in some range of wavelengths, the reflected light preserves many or most of the detailed physical characteristics of the original light. This is different from other light-reflecting objects that do not preserve much of the original wave signal other than color and diffuse reflected light.
The most familiar type of mirror is the plane mirror, which has a flat screen surface. Curved mirrors are also used, to produce magnified or diminished images or focus light or simply distort the reflected image.
Mirrors are commonly used for personal grooming or admiring oneself (in which case the archaic term looking-glass is sometimes still used), decoration, and architecture. Mirrors are also used in scientific apparatus such as telescopes and lasers, cameras, and industrial machinery. Most mirrors are designed for visible light; however, mirrors designed for other wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation are also used.

A lion at the Oregon Zoo apparently thought a little boy sitting outside of the exhibit would make a delicious treat. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the baby was wearing a black-and-white striped outfit. "We didn't even notice he looked like a zebra until someone told us that on Facebook," the child's mother, Heather Baltzor, told CNN affiliate KTVZ. "He looked like a tasty baby zebra." No matter how much the lion pawed or lunged at the little guy, thick protective glass kept him safe. The child barely noticed what was happening. His mother says he was never frightened. Zoo workers say lions often interact with young visitors and the glass barrier keeps them safe.

I sell rocks, minerals and fossils for a living, and therefore I have a pretty big private collection of them, as well. This is a video showing off a piece of fire obsidian from Glass Butte, Oregon, which I had been on the hunt for for years and finally found! Obsidian is naturally formed volcanic glass. There are lots of different kinds of it, under many different names: rainbow obsidian, mahogany obsidian, blue/gold sheen obsidian, etc. Fire obsidian from Oregon is by far the hardest to come by. I had basically given up in trying to get any though, since anything I could ever find was either really crappy, really tiny, or really expensive. Usually it was all 3. This piece was in a collection I bought from an old rockhound earlier this year. I didn't even notice it in the box when I bo...
Gorilla break glass at Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha, Nebraska - Caught on Camera! OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) – A video of a gorilla at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium has gone viral. Zoo Curator, Dan Cassidy, says with three gorillas, aged 17 to 22 trying to establish dominance in the same space, they're bound to see testosterone and aggression as these gorillas transition into adulthood. In the video you can see the reflection of a little girl pounding on her chest as she looks at the male gorillas. One of the gorillas, known as "Kijito", charges to the glass and breaks through the first of three layers of protective glass. The zoo says this isn't the first time they've seen this before. It's common for the glass to break because of environmental or engineering causes. Gorill...

http://www.expedia.com/Portland.d178299.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Portland, Oregon, where you can experience the laid-back atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest amid beautiful natural surroundings. A Portland tour is easily accomplished on foot; this city was designed for pedestrians, so you’ll be able to get around quickly. As you stroll along, you’ll find plenty of parks, fountains, and buildings old and new to explore. Be warned, this city is known for its sudden showers, so make sure you bring an umbrella to shield yourself until the sun makes a triumphant return. If you like a good brew, you’re going to love Portland’s alter-ego, Beervana – so named thanks to all the breweries located here. Wine snobs, don’t despair; you’ll find plenty to drink (responsibly) in the Willame...

In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States. I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti. While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next po...

There's a port on a western bay
And it serves a hundred ships a day
Lonely sailors pass the time away
And talk about their homes
And there's a girl in this harbor town
And she works layin' whiskey down
They say "Brandy, fetch another round"
She serves them whiskey and wine
The sailors say "Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea"
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
Brandy wears a braided chain
Made of finest silver from the North of Spain
A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loves
He came on a summer's day
Bringin' gifts from far away
But he made it clear he couldn't stay
No harbor was his home
The sailor said " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
Yeah, Brandy used to watch his eyes
When he told his sailor stories
She could feel the ocean foam rise
She saw its ragin' glory
But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man
And Brandy does her best to understand
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
At night when the bars close down
Brandy walks through a silent town
And loves a man who's not around
She still can hear him say
She hears him say " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"
(dooda-dit-dooda), (dit-dooda-dit-dooda-dit)
"Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
