But the summer of 2015 I made some plans to go find cooler water. I was invited back to one of my favorite places on earth, to meet a couple of friends capturing the hopper hatch together in full swing. The smoke was thick from summer wildfires in the Rockies, and the conditions were tough to film in. But the fish were ready and eager to take a fly each time I set up my position with the camera, and the anglers were successful most every cast. Spring creeks are an angler’s (and camera operator’s) dream… if you have the patience. These two friends had a blast fishing the Spring Creek magic. It was certainly one of the highlights of my summer! When life offers you the chance to go outside, have some fun and enjoy the river with a friend, you better do it! I was lucky enough to capture it on film. Hope you enjoy this fun, fly fishing adventure!

My day one in Manitoba was real change of pace from what I'm used to fishing back home. Aaron, from Uncut Angling, and I set out to Falcon Lake with a tiny 16ft rig and two fly rods in hopes to quickly connect with a decent pike for a day trip bite. It was a humbling experience especially since I NEVER fly fished in my entire life. I totally and absolutely loved the fly fishing experience and plan on picking up the fly rod again in the future. There is something so rewarding when you're finally able to connect with a fish on the fly. This wasn't the giant Manitoba gator I was on the hunt for but we did happen to stumble up some much larger fish later on in our trip...

Each July, I find myself heading back to my home state of Montana. Over the past 15 years, many of these trips have included an adventure with my good friend and master spring creek angler, Pete Corbett who is owner of Creekside Angling Company in Issaquah, Washington. We like to fish the Southwest region of the state. For this 2013 fly fishing trip, we met in Dillon, Montana. This time Pete fished some of our favorite public water, and we hit the PMD hatch that usually occurs in late June and early July. We were in the right place at the right time! The PMDs popped, coming off in thick numbers, with fish hungry and aggressively rising to chow down on the first big hatch of the summer. The second half of this video shoot was taken on a one-day walk/wade of McCoy's Spring Creek, and we had some pretty good action there as well. Southwest Montana never lets me down!

Fly fishing
Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial "fly" is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or "lure" requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting. Fly fishermen use hand tied flies that resemble natural invertebrates, baitfish, other food organisms, or "lures" to provoke the fish to strike (bite at the fly).
Fly fishing can be done in fresh or salt water. North Americans usually distinguish freshwater fishing between cold-water species (trout, salmon, steelhead) and warm-water species, notably bass. In Britain, where natural water temperatures vary less, the distinction is between game fishing for trout and salmon versus coarse fishing for other species. Techniques for fly fishing differ with habitat (lakes and ponds, small streams, large rivers, bays and estuaries, and open ocean.)

Each July, I find myself heading back to my home state of Montana. Over the past 15 years, many of these trips have included an adventure with my good friend and master spring creek angler, Pete Corbett who is owner of Creekside Angling Company in Issaquah, Washington. We like to fish the Southwest region of the state. For this 2013 fly fishing trip, we met in Dillon, Montana. This time Pete fished some of our favorite public water, and we hit the PMD hatch that usually occurs in late June and early July. We were in the right place at the right time! The PMDs popped, coming off in thick numbers, with fish hungry and aggressively rising to chow down on the first big hatch of the summer. The second half of this video shoot was taken on a one-day walk/wade of McCoy's Spring Creek, and we had some pretty good action there as well. Southwest Montana never lets me down! But the summer of 2015 I made some plans to go find cooler water. I was invited back to one of my favorite places on earth, to meet a couple of friends capturing the hopper hatch together in full swing. The smoke was thick from summer wildfires in the Rockies, and the conditions were tough to film in. Click Here To Subscribe ►http://goo.gl/9Z5dTu - Normally I wouldn't find myself doing much traveling to film fish during the hot summer months, especially in August. But the summer of 2015 I made some plans to go find cooler water. I was invited back to one of my favorite places on earth, to meet a couple of friends capturing the hopper hatch together in full swing. The smoke was thick from summer wildfires in the Rockies, and the conditions were tough to film in. But the fish were ready and eager to take a fly each time I set up my position with the camera, and the anglers were successful most every cast. Spring creeks are an angler’s (and camera operator’s) dream… if you have the patience. These two friends had a blast fishing the Spring Creek magic. It was certainly one of the highlights of my summer! When life offers you the chance to go outside, have some fun and enjoy the river with a friend, you better do it! I was lucky enough to capture it on film. Hope you enjoy this fun, fly fishing adventure!

In this episode I connect with James from Schultz Outfitters and head to the Huron river in Ypsilanti, MI in search of GIANT carp! After about 7 hours of searching, finding, casting and not catching I finally hook up with my PB carp! (if that's even a thing lol) I never thought fishing for carp could be so fun!

My day one in Manitoba was real change of pace from what I'm used to fishing back home. Aaron, from Uncut Angling, and I set out to Falcon Lake with a tiny 16ft rig and two fly rods in hopes to quickly connect with a decent pike for a day trip bite. It was a humbling experience especially since I NEVER fly fished in my entire life. I totally and absolutely loved the fly fishing experience and plan on picking up the fly rod again in the future. There is something so rewarding when you're finally able to connect with a fish on the fly. This wasn't the giant Manitoba gator I was on the hunt for but we did happen to stumble up some much larger fish later on in our trip...

Each July, I find myself heading back to my home state of Montana. Over the past 15 years, many of these trips have included an adventure with my good friend and master spring creek angler, Pete Corbett who is owner of Creekside Angling Company in Issaquah, Washington. We like to fish the Southwest region of the state. For this 2013 fly fishing trip, we met in Dillon, Montana. This time Pete fished some of our favorite public water, and we hit the PMD hatch that usually occurs in late June and early July. We were in the right place at the right time! The PMDs popped, coming off in thick numbers, with fish hungry and aggressively rising to chow down on the first big hatch of the summer. The second half of this video shoot was taken on a one-day walk/wade of McCoy's Spring Creek, and we had some pretty good action there as well. Southwest Montana never lets me down!

Fly Fishing for Striped Bass on Cape Cod
Check out https://myfishingcapecod.com for a full report of this trip! On the evening of October 7th, MFCC Intern Andrew Burke and I encountered excellent fishing for schoolies and keeper-sized striped bass. The fish were cruising a mere 20-30ft from the shore, so I figured it was a great opportunity to break out my 9wt Sage fly rod (supplied by Goose Hummock Shops). Striped bass can be found incredibly close to shore during the "fall run" on Cape Cod. With the right knowledge, you can easily find fish along many stretches of beachfront. In this case, we found fish at the leisurely hour of 5pm, although the action lasted long past sunset. We encountered schoolies in the daylight, and small keepers when night fell. Fly Fishing For Peacok Bass in The Canals and Lakes of South Florida
The butterfly peacock (also called peacock bass) is an extremely popular freshwater game fish introduced to south Florida in 1984. It is readily caught by bank and boat anglers using a wide variety of tackle and bait that ranges from live shiners to artificial lures and flies. Butterfly peacock prefer live fish and fishimitating baits often used by largemouth bass anglers, but they rarely hit plastic worms commonly used to catch largemouth bass. On the evening of October 7th, MFCC Intern Andrew Burke and I encountered excellent fishing for schoolies and keeper-sized striped bass.
The fish were cruising a mere 20-30ft from the shore, so I figured it was a great opportunity to break out my 9wt Sage fly rod (supplied by Goose Hummock Shops).
Striped bass can be found incredibly close to shore during the "fall run" on Cape Cod. With the right knowledge, you can easily find fish along many stretches of beachfront. In this case, we found fish at the leisurely hour of 5pm, although the action lasted long past sunset. We encountered schoolies in the daylight, and small keepers when night fell.
This situation was perfect, as I am still learning how to effectively target striped bass on fly tackle.
Andrew Burke was using a 9' St. Croix mojo surf rod, equipped with a Van Staal 200 x-series reel. After this trip, Andrew took a trip to Martha's Vineyard to fish in the Martha's Vineyard Fishing Derby.
