The Voice Portugal

The Voice Portugal (A Voz de Portugal in the first season) is a Portuguese reality singing competition and local version of The Voice originally broadcast as The Voice of Holland. It premiered on 29 October 2011, on RTP1, with the first season finale airing on February 25, 2012, crowning Denis Filipe as the winner. The show came back in 2014 with its second season with new judges, a new co-host and new Repórteres V (backstage hosts). The winner of the second season was Rui Drummond. RTP1 later announced the first season of The Voice Kids Portugal and the third season of the main show. The third season premiered October 11, 2015 with new judge, Aurea. In its third season, the show proved to be a hit and was subsequently renewed for a fourth season, that is going to premiere in 2016.

The series employs a panel of four coaches who critique the artists' performances. Each coach guides their teams of selected artists through the remainder of the season. They also compete to ensure that their act wins the competition, thus making them the winning coach. The original coaching panel consisted of Rui Reininho, Paulo Gonzo, Mia Rose and the duo Anjos. In 2014 when the show came back, Reininho returned as a judge and was joined by Mickael Carreira, Marisa Liz and Anselmo Ralph. Also in 2014, Ralph became one of the judges of the kids version, alongside Daniela Mercury and Raquel Tavares. In the third season Reininho left and was replaced by Aurea.

The Voice (TV series)

The Voice is a reality television singing competition franchise. It is based on the reality singing competition The Voice of Holland, which was originally created by Dutch television producer John de Mol. Many other countries have adapted the format and began airing their own versions since 2011. It has become a rival to the Idols franchise and The X Factor.

History

John de Mol, creator of Big Brother, first created The Voice concept with Dutch singer Roel van Velzen. The show distinguishes itself as different from The X Factor and Idols as The Voice primarily focuses on singing ability and prowess of an artist alone.

On September 17, 2010, The Voice of Holland began to air on RTL 4 with Angela Groothuizen, Roel van Velzen, Nick & Simon, and Jeroen van der Boom as the mentor-judges (dubbed as "coaches") of the show. The show proved to be an instant success in the Netherlands.

The format was later sold to different countries.

Format

Contestants are aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. The show's format features four stages of competition. The first is the blind auditions, in which the four coaches, all noteworthy recording artists, listen to the contestants in chairs facing away from the stage so as to avoid seeing them. If a coach likes what they hear from that contestant, they press a button to rotate their chairs to signify that they are interested in working with that contestant. If more than one coach presses their button, the contestant chooses the coach he or she wants to work with. The blind auditions end when each coach has a set number of contestants to work with. Coaches will dedicate themselves to developing their singers mentally, musically and in some cases physically, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers

Captain Planet and the Planeteers is an American animated environmentalist television program created by Ted Turner, Robert Larkin III, and Barbara Pyle, produced by Pyle, Nicholas Boxer, Andy Heyward and Robby London, and developed by Pyle, Boxer, Heyward, London, Thom Beers, Bob Forward, Phil Harnage and Cassandra Schafhausen. The series was produced by Turner Program Services and DIC Entertainment and it was broadcast on TBS from September 15, 1990 to December 5, 1992. A sequel series, The New Adventures of Captain Planet, was produced by Hanna-Barbera and Turner Program Services, and was broadcast from September 11, 1993 to May 11, 1996. Both series continue today in syndication. The program is a form of edutainment and advocates environmentalism. In 1997, the series reran on Kids' WB! during weekday mornings right after Tiny Toon Adventures.

In February 2009, Mother Nature Network began airing episodes and unreleased footage of Captain Planet and the Planeteers on its website.
