Laws affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people vary greatly by country or territory—everything from legal recognition of same-sex marriage or other types of partnerships, to the death penalty as punishment for same-sex romantic/sexual activity or identity.
LGBT rights are considered human rights by the Amnesty International and civil rights by some. LGBT rights laws include, but are not limited to, the following:
Bernard "Bernie" Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Vermont. He is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. A Democrat as of 2015, Sanders had been the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, though his caucusing with the Democrats entitled him to committee assignments and at times gave Democrats a majority. Sanders has been the ranking minority member on the Senate Budget Committee since January 2015, and previously served for two years as chair of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee.
Sanders was born and raised in the New York City borough of Brooklyn and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1964. While a student, he was an active civil rights protest organizer for the Congress of Racial Equality and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. After settling in Vermont in 1968, Sanders ran unsuccessful third-party campaigns for governor and U.S. senator in the early to mid-1970s. As an independent, he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont's most populous city, in 1981, and was reelected three times. In 1990, he was elected to represent Vermont's at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1991, Sanders co-founded the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He served as a congressman for 16 years before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006. In 2012, he was reelected with 71% of the popular vote. During the 2016 presidential primaries, Sanders became the first self-described democratic socialist and first Jewish American to win a presidential primary of a major party, namely the New Hampshire primary.
Rachel Anne Maddow (i/ˈmædoʊ/, born April 1, 1973) is an American television host, political commentator, and author. She hosts a nightly television show, The Rachel Maddow Show, on MSNBC. Her syndicated talk radio program of the same name aired on Air America Radio. Maddow is the first openly gay anchor to host a major prime-time news program in the United States. She holds a doctorate in politics from Oxford University.
Asked about her political views by the Valley Advocate, Maddow replied, "I'm undoubtedly a liberal, which means that I'm in almost total agreement with the Eisenhower-era Republican party platform."
Maddow was born in Castro Valley, California. Her father, Robert B. "Bob" Maddow, is a former United States Air Force captain who resigned his commission the year before her birth and found civilian work as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Her mother, Elaine Maddow (née Gosse), is a school program administrator. She has one older brother, David. Her paternal grandfather was from an Eastern European Jewish family (the original family surname being "Medwedof"), while her paternal grandmother was of Dutch (Protestant) background; her mother, originally from Newfoundland, Canada, is of English and Irish ancestry. Maddow has stated that her family is "very, very Catholic," and she grew up in a community that her mother has described as "very conservative." Maddow was a competitive athlete and participated in three sports in high school: volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Referencing John Hughes films, she has described herself as being "a cross between the jock and the antisocial girl" in high school.

Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/join "A 12-year-old Mexican boy became an overnight icon after a journalist snapped a photograph of him attempting to block an anti-LGBT demonstration. This video was uploaded to Asia One's website on 12 September 2016: http://news.asiaone.com/news/asia/chinese-gay-activist-challenges-homosexuality-disorder-textbooks BEIJING - A gay Chinese student activist on Monday lodged a suit against the Ministry of Education over school textbooks describing homosexuality as a mental disorder, the latest step by China's small but growing gay rights movement. It is not illegal to be gay in China and these days many large Chinese cities have thriving gay scenes, though there is still a lot of family pressure to get married and have children, even for gay men and women. Homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder until 2001. However, Chinese universities continue to use textbooks that contain terms such as "disorder" and "impediment" to refer to homos...
One of the hardest regions of the globe to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is the Arab world. In Saudi Arabia and Yemen, the punishment for the crime of sodomy is death by stoning, and many other countries impose prison sentences. Also challenging is the fact that the stigma associated with being LGBT is so great, many people feel they can’t come out even to their family or closest friends. On this edition of Global Journalist, a look at the uncertain lives of LGBT people in Arab nations. Joining the program: *Saleem Haddad, the Jordanian-born author of the new novel "Guapa," about the outing of a young gay man in an unnamed Arab country. *Graeme Reid, director of the LGBT rights program at Human Rights Watch. *Esra'a Al-Shafei, a Bahraini activist and director of Mideast...
Hi! I happened upon a You Tuber who Vloggs on here using a narrative style. I think she calls it "Storytime." Her channel name is Natalia Taylor. Here is a link to her video that I mention, called "Kidnapped: My Story": https://youtu.be/Q_mYx4SkvJo Then I tell a story that came to my mind when I was thinking about this style of Vlogging, narrative. My story is about one of my high school experiences with bullying and how it related to an assignment I did in 11th grade on gay rights. I wish that times had changed so much that this would never ever happen again in this day and age, but possibly it still would in some parts of our country. Mine happened in 1992-1993 in Pennsylvania. My bully was named "Brooke," (probably her real name). In the video I couldn't remember her name. Since then, I...

Is it about freedom of choice? Or political power.. In the early 90's homosexuality was only 1% America's population, yet our basic morality, constitutional values, and even our children are under constant attack. This indulgence oriented group was using legislative appeal to make "gays" an official state-protected minority group. Homosexuals are redefining the family and have demanded that the 1964 Civil Rights Act be amended to make "sexual preference" a constitutionally protected right...

I've lived long enough to see the dead horse
I've lived long enough to cross swamps at night
I've lived long enough to chase a rat
I've lived long enough to take a jet ride
If you see me on an airplane
Just make sure and get out of my way
I lived long enough to know the sun will drop
And you ought to leave it lie
To see the dying of the pines
I've lived long enough to kill my first love
I've lived long enough to break in and do harm
I've lived long enough to fly an airplane
I've lived long enough to break a machine
If you see me on an airplane
Just make sure and get out of my way
I lived long enough to know the sun will drop
And you ought to leave it lie
