Malays (Malay: Melayu, Jawi: ملايو) are an ethnic group of Austronesian peoples predominantly inhabiting the Malay Peninsula, eastern Sumatra and coastal Borneo, as well as the smaller islands which lie between these locations — areas that are collectively known as the Malay world. These locations today are part of the modern nations of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and southern Thailand.
There is considerable genetic, linguistic, cultural, and social diversity among the many Malay subgroups, mainly due to hundreds of years of immigration and assimilation of various regional ethnicity and tribes within Maritime Southeast Asia. Historically, the Malay population is descended primarily from the earlier Malayic-speaking tribes that settled in the region, who founded several ancient maritime trading states and kingdoms, notably Brunei, Kedah, Langkasuka, Gangga Negara, Chi Tu, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Melayu and Srivijaya, and the later Cham and Austronesian settlers.
Malay may refer to:
Culture (/ˈkʌltʃər/) is, in the words of E.B. Tylor, "that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society."
Cambridge English Dictionary states that culture is, "the way of life, especially the general customs and beliefs, of a particular group of people at a particular time."Terror Management Theory posits that culture is a series of activities and worldviews that provide humans with the illusion of being individuals of value in a world meaning—raising themselves above the merely physical aspects of existence, in order to deny the animal insignificance and death that Homo Sapiens became aware of when they acquired a larger brain.

This video was produced, filmed, and edited by Stacey Coates and Jayde Adam. Thanks to both of them for doing such a great job! A few notes about the video: 2:13- my tone for "nɔng" is incorrect. I pronounced a valley tone which actually makes the word mean "swamp" instead of "younger brother or younger sister". I should have said it with an up tone (4th tone in Thai) in order to say it correctly. 5:27- Instead of saying "kamu perlu 'belajar' setiap hari" I could have said "praktis" or "buat latihan" but I chose to just say "belajar" instead because it made sense at the time. :) Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/cikgu.ben.bradshaw Instagram: http://instagram.com/bencbradshaw Twitter: https://twitter.com/bencbradshaw For any official inquiries, please contact through bencbrad@gmail.co...

Testimony of Former Muslim About Conversion from Islam to Christianity: I was born as Fatimah daughter of (Imam) Muhammad. My father was an Indian and my mother is a Malay. So I have two cultures: I have the Indian culture as well as the Malay culture. My mother comes from Malaysia. She was born and brought up in Malaysia and she came to Singapore. And my father was born and brought up Singapore but his family comes from Kadinalu in South India and my family comes from what is known as a priesthood family like in the scriptures you have the Hebrews who have one tribe known as the Levites who take care of God's people and God's ministry. My family comes from a priesthood so my great-grandfather was an Imam in a mosque. My grandfather was an Imam. My father was an Imam and today my broth...

There are few countries that I've visited that offer up such a diverse range of cuisine that can be found in Malaysia. Aside from Malay dishes, Malaysian food features Indian cuisine and Chinese cuisine with a local twist. Many of the dishes are fusion types of concoctions blending South Asian and Chinese influences with local Southeast Asian ingredients and spices. Whether you're in the mood for a spicy Laksa, delicious dim sum or tantalizing Tandoori chicken, you'll find it all here in Malaysia.
