The Führerbunker was an air-raid shelter located near the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Germany. It was part of a subterranean bunker complex constructed in two phases which were completed in 1936 and 1944. It was the last of the Führer Headquarters used by Adolf Hitler.
The site remained unmarked until 2006, when a small plaque with a schematic diagram was installed.
The Führerbunker (English: "Leader's bunker") was an air-raid shelter located near the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Germany. It was part of a subterranean bunker complex which was constructed in two major phases, one part in 1936 and the other in 1943. This was filmed just before East German army men blew out the entrances to the place with high explosive to allow the building of a parking lot for nearby condominiums upon it...

Construction of the Cabinet War Rooms, located beneath the Treasury building in the Whitehall area of Westminster, began in 1938. They became operational in August 1939, shortly before the outbreak of war in Europe. They remained in operation throughout the Second World War, before being abandoned in August 1945 after the surrender of Japan. After the war the historic value of the Cabinet War Rooms was recognized. Their preservation became the responsibility of the Ministry of Works and later the Department for the Environment, during which time very limited numbers of the public were able to visit by appointment. In the early 1980s the Imperial War Museum was asked to take over the administration of the site, and the Cabinet War Rooms were opened to the public in April 1984. The museum was reopened in 2005 following a major redevelopment as the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, but in 2010 this was shortened to the Churchill War Rooms.
Hitler took up residence in the Führerbunker on 16 January 1945 and it became the centre of the Nazi regime until the last week of World War II in Europe. Hitler married Eva Braun here during the last week of April 1945, shortly before they committed suicide.

As the Führerbunker was below the water table, conditions were unpleasantly damp, with pumps running continuously to remove groundwater. A diesel generator provided electricity, and well water was pumped in as the water supply.[14] Communications systems included a telex, a telephone switchboard, and an army radio set with an outdoor antenna. As conditions deteriorated at the end of the war, Hitler received much of his war news from BBC radio broadcasts and via courier.

Time was 1946...the crumbling, burnt ruins of Berlin had become a center of tourism, politics and the focal point for a new war...a cold war....up from the ruins of one of Europe's great cities would come a new world...terminology and a reason to believe in the word freedom...but, in 1946, this was yet years in the future...come and stumble amist in the ruins of a failed empire...like ancient Rome but, 1940's style...I'm sorry, I do not speak Russian...do you speak French?

Springtime in Berlin had always been the time to get out and explore this ancient capitol of Europe...now now...in 1946...with the marshalled seeds of reprented humanity starting anew with the flowering of hope, some electricity and food pulls itself up from out of the ashes of the failed empire...tourism booms...all rooms are booked...be careful poking about for artifacts stroon out amongst the ruins of a city starting to slowly rebuild and intermingled amongst life starting to return and take root...no one yet worries about Soviet, French, English or American Zones...

The Führerbunker (German: "Führer's bunker") was an air-raid shelter located near the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Germany. It was part of a subterranean bunker complex which was constructed in two major phases, one part in 1936 and the other in 1943. It was the last of the Führer Headquarters (Führerhauptquartiere) to be used by the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Hitler took up residence in the Führerbunker on 16 January 1945 and it became the epicentre of the Nazi regime until the last week of World War II. Hitler married Eva Braun here during the last week of April 1945, shortly before they committed suicide.
The ruins of both the old and new Chancellery buildings were levelled by the Soviets between 1945 and 1949, but the bunker largely survived, although some areas were partially flooded. Apart from one unsuccessful attempt in 1959 by the government of East Germany to blow it up, the underground complex remained largely undisturbed until after the reunification of Germany. During the reconstruction of that area of Berlin after reunification, those sections of the complex that were excavated were for the most part destroyed.

Berlin. The place where the Führerbunker was located.
The Führerbunker was an air-raid shelter located near the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Germany. It was part of a subterranean bunker complex constructed in two phases which were completed in 1936 and 1944. It was the last of the Führer Headquarters used by Adolf Hitler. The site remained unmarked until 2006, when a small plaque with a schematic diagram was installed. -

The Churchill War Rooms and the Führerbunker
Construction of the Cabinet War Rooms, located beneath the Treasury building in the Whitehall area of Westminster, began in 1938. They became operational in August 1939, shortly before the outbreak of war in Europe. They remained in operation throughout the Second World War, before being abandoned in August 1945 after the surrender of Japan. The "Big Star Square" was planned in 1937-1939 by Albert Speer an Adolf Hitler. The former place of the Siegessäule was in front of the Reichstag. With the construction of the Ost-West-Achse (big boulevard from east to west in the Berlin Tiergarten) Albert Speer, Hitlers most popular architect and later minister, consructed a triumphal parade boulevard.With the Siegessäule, in the underground, there are tunnels for visitors wohe enter them from two classicist bulidings. Eagles in the style of Karl Freidrich Schinkel are still existing (with damages from the Battle of Berlin in 1945) like the buildings and other place architecture. -
Siegessäule Tunnel Under Roundabout
This video shows the walk to the Siegessäule via the underground tunnel. The tunnels were built around 1939 when the column was relocated from it's original postion in front of the Reichstag building to the center of Str. des 17 Juni. The buidlings housing the tunnel entrances, and the column itself bear the scars of war in the form of bullet holes from the street fighting that took place between the Red Army and the Nazis in the final days of WWII. -

Construction of the Cabinet War Rooms, located beneath the Treasury building in the Whitehall area of Westminster, began in 1938. They became operational in August 1939, shortly before the outbreak of war in Europe. They remained in operation throughout the Second World War, before being abandoned in August 1945 after the surrender of Japan. After the war the historic value of the Cabinet War Rooms was recognized. Their preservation became the responsibility of the Ministry of Works and later the Department for the Environment, during which time very limited numbers of the public were able to visit by appointment. In the early 1980s the Imperial War Museum was asked to take over the administration of the site, and the Cabinet War Rooms were opened to the public in April 1984. The museum was reopened in 2005 following a major redevelopment as the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, but in 2010 this was shortened to the Churchill War Rooms.
Hitler took up residence in the Führerbunker on 16 January 1945 and it became the centre of the Nazi regime until the last week of World War II in Europe. Hitler married Eva Braun here during the last week of April 1945, shortly before they committed suicide.

The outcome was intended as a peace treaty for Europe, but it turned out to be the beginning of 45 years of cold war.
It was at Cecilienhof in Potsdam, where the big three met: Harry S. Truman, President of the Unites States of America, the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin, the Russian Communist Party General Secretary
The main topics to negotiate were how to divide the control over Germany (division into occupation zones), to agree on German reparations, to agree on the German borders, but also on borders of Poland, the dimantling of German war industry and the punishment of war criminals (trials, held some month later in Nuremberg).
Truman's intent was also to end the war in Japan as soon as possible. He mentioned a "powerful new weapon". In the last days of the conference, the US, Britain and China gave Japan an ultimatum to surrender or otherwise threatened with "prompt and utter destruction" without mentioning a new bomb.
Some days after the Potsdam Conference, Trum gave the order to drop off the first atomic bomb on Japan (Aug 6, 1945)
The documentation also shows pictures from the Berlin directly after the war, the destroyed city, the Führerbunker (Hitler's bunker), women clearing away the rubble, etc.
Cecilienhof in Potsdam is nowaday a memorial commemorating the Conference and negotiations for peace.

На семиминутном видео показаны Рейхстаг, Бранденбургские ворота и большой плакат Иосифа Сталина возле них, отель "Адлон", разрушенные улицы с разбитыми автомобилями. На записи видно, как женщины убирают город от мусора.

In 2013, I followed the walk with only my memory, a few photos and the video camera to register what once was.

The tunnels were built around 1939 when the column was relocated from it's original postion in front of the Reichstag building to the center of Str. des 17 Juni. The buidlings housing the tunnel entrances, and the column itself bear the scars of war in the form of bullet holes from the street fighting that took place between the Red Army and the Nazis in the final days of WWII.

As waters degrade,. blessing is timely. Recently, Tibetan monks blessed the waters near Jupiter Inlet. How timely. We need a blessing, since our waters are being polluted from all sides. Partially treated sewage outfalls, from Miami to Boynton Beach, have degraded our reefs as they drift north in the Gulf Stream ... From “D.C ...
