The Bearded Man used to have a particularly horrifying recurring dream. You might laugh, but don’t. He’s not here for your entertainment, ok? So, he wakes up to the smell of cheap, cardboard-smelling french fries and strange cinnamon buns that smell like sawdust. Where is he? You guessed it, IKEA of course! They got everything right but not their terrible, terrible, dreadful airplane food. Come on Sweden, we thought you were better than that! In any case, that’s not where the dream gets freaky, that’s just a normal day in IKEA. So The Bearded Man goes to section one, and then begins the maze of perfect plastic products. Only this maze doesn’t end. Everywhere he turns, he sees one cardboard cutout of a perfect couple and then another. This one is 9 months pregnant! How cute! These ones are strolling around with their two beautiful blonde-haired babies in a stroller. How nice! “Oh! Do you think this knife block will match well with the curtains in the kitchen?” “Yes dear! I’m so happy with you here, at IKEA, my favorite place on Earth!” And later… “Hey hon, do you think little Timmy will like this dresser? He can put his bubble gum and playing cards in there. It’s even magnetic so he can post his straight-A report card on it! Yayyyyy!!” And everywhere he turned, he just got deeper… and deeper… and deeper into the horrific beast. Tea Cozies to the left, squeegees to the right… Oh, look at this nice bathmat designed by the industrious Oscar Karlsson and his very productive team! They look so happy, and they *clearly* love working together at IKEA and their 25 weeks of paid holiday per year! And still, everywhere he ran, The Bearded Man just kept searching for something real. He’d wake up after a few hours of this soul-crushing nightmare, but he will say one thing: at least the music in the store was always decent, no matter how creepy the experience became.

The Advertising Council, commonly known as the Ad Council, is an American non-profit organization that produces, distributes, and promotes public service announcements on behalf of various sponsors, including non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations and agencies of the United States government.
The Ad Council partners with advertising agencies who work pro bono to create the public service advertisements on behalf of their campaigns. The organization accepts requests from sponsor institutions for advertising campaigns that focus on particular social issues. To qualify, an issue must be non-partisan (though not necessarily unbiased) and have national relevance.
The Ad Council distributes the advertisements to a network of 33,000 media outlets—including broadcast, print, outdoor (i.e. billboards, bus stops), and Internet—who run the ads in donated time and space. The Best Part
The Best Part is the first studio album by American hip hop artist J-Live. It was released on Triple Threat Productions in 2001.
Background
The Best Part was recorded from 1995 to 1998 and featured production by Prince Paul, DJ Premier, and Pete Rock. It was set for a 1999 release, but due to problems with his record label, Raw Shack Records, J-Live left the label and the album was shelved. J-Live moved to Payday Records, but when Payday's parent company London Records was bought from Universal Music Group by WEA, the album was again shelved. In 2001, copies surfaced as bootlegs and several were of such high quality it was rumored that J-Live himself was behind them. By the fall of 2001, after five years of label problems, The Best Part was finally officially released on Triple Threat Productions.

You might laugh, but don’t. He’s not here for your entertainment, ok? So, he wakes up to the smell of cheap, cardboard-smelling french fries and strange cinnamon buns that smell like sawdust. Where is he? You guessed it, IKEA of course! They got everything right but not their terrible, terrible, dreadful airplane food. Come on Sweden, we thought you were better than that! In any case, that’s not where the dream gets freaky, that’s just a normal day in IKEA. So The Bearded Man goes to section one, and then begins the maze of perfect plastic products. Only this maze doesn’t end. Everywhere he turns, he sees one cardboard cutout of a perfect couple and then another. This one is 9 months pregnant! How cute! These ones are strolling around with their two beautiful blonde-haired babies in a stroller. How nice! “Oh! Do you think this knife block will match well with the curtains in the kitchen?” “Yes dear! I’m so happy with you here, at IKEA, my favorite place on Earth!” And later… “Hey hon, do you think little Timmy will like this dresser? He can put his bubble gum and playing cards in there. It’s even magnetic so he can post his straight-A report card on it! Yayyyyy!!” And everywhere he turned, he just got deeper… and deeper… and deeper into the horrific beast. Tea Cozies to the left, squeegees to the right… Oh, look at this nice bathmat designed by the industrious Oscar Karlsson and his very productive team! They look so happy, and they *clearly* love working together at IKEA and their 25 weeks of paid holiday per year! And still, everywhere he ran, The Bearded Man just kept searching for something real. He’d wake up after a few hours of this soul-crushing nightmare, but he will say one thing: at least the music in the store was always decent, no matter how creepy the experience became. http://www.forumgallery.com/adetail.php?id=207 Steven Assael, the New York artist hailed by The Art Newspaper as "the foremost figurative painter of his generation", will exhibit his latest paintings and drawings at Forum Gallery, New York, from March 19 to May 2, 2009. The exhibition, Assaels seventh since joining the Gallery in 1998, focuses on public and private aspects of urban life and explores issues of intimacy, gender and personal identity. The portraits and narratives the artist paints touch on contact, isolation, sexuality and the journey through life. In the paintings, Steven Assael employs his unique, characteristic sense of light and shadow to illuminate the characters and lives of his subjects. A featured painting, Crowd #1, 2009, oil on canvas, 72" x 96", was exhibited by Forum Gallery at The Armory Show Modern (New York, March 5-9) to preview the forthcoming exhibition. In this major work, Assael leaves specific location and narrative to the viewer. He shows a crowd of infinite number and depth, people to whom we relate but who do not relate to each other, no matter how close the gathering. The drawings are striking in their detail and accuracy, always used in the interest and exploration of intimate moments of introspection. All of the drawings and paintings in the exhibition have been created since 2006. Steven Assaels work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at museums from Chattanooga to Seattle and at galleries throughout the United States. Works have been chosen for curated group exhibitions at the Naples Museum of Art, FL; the Arkansas Art Center, the Evansville Museum, IN; and the Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, OK; among many. Paintings and drawings can be found in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art & Design, Kansas City; The Columbus Museum, GA; and many other museum and distinguished private collections. An opening reception with the artist will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Forum Gallery, 745 Fifth Avenue at 57th Street, Fifth Floor. The Bearded Man used to have a particularly horrifying recurring dream. You might laugh, but don’t. He’s not here for your entertainment, ok? So, he wakes up to the smell of cheap, cardboard-smelling french fries and strange cinnamon buns that smell like sawdust. Where is he? You guessed it, IKEA of course! They got everything right but not their terrible, terrible, dreadful airplane food. Come on Sweden, we thought you were better than that! In any case, that’s not where the dream gets freaky, that’s just a normal day in IKEA. So The Bearded Man goes to section one, and then begins the maze of perfect plastic products. Only this maze doesn’t end. Everywhere he turns, he sees one cardboard cutout of a perfect couple and then another. This one is 9 months pregnant! How cute! These ones are strolling around with their two beautiful blonde-haired babies in a stroller. How nice! “Oh! Do you think this knife block will match well with the curtains in the kitchen?” “Yes dear! I’m so happy with you here, at IKEA, my favorite place on Earth!” And later… “Hey hon, do you think little Timmy will like this dresser? He can put his bubble gum and playing cards in there. It’s even magnetic so he can post his straight-A report card on it! Yayyyyy!!” And everywhere he turned, he just got deeper… and deeper… and deeper into the horrific beast. Tea Cozies to the left, squeegees to the right… Oh, look at this nice bathmat designed by the industrious Oscar Karlsson and his very productive team! They look so happy, and they *clearly* love working together at IKEA and their 25 weeks of paid holiday per year! And still, everywhere he ran, The Bearded Man just kept searching for something real. He’d wake up after a few hours of this soul-crushing nightmare, but he will say one thing: at least the music in the store was always decent, no matter how creepy the experience became.

The Bearded Man used to have a particularly horrifying recurring dream. You might laugh, but don’t. He’s not here for your entertainment, ok? So, he wakes up to the smell of cheap, cardboard-smelling french fries and strange cinnamon buns that smell like sawdust. Where is he? You guessed it, IKEA of course! They got everything right but not their terrible, terrible, dreadful airplane food. Come on Sweden, we thought you were better than that! In any case, that’s not where the dream gets freaky, that’s just a normal day in IKEA. So The Bearded Man goes to section one, and then begins the maze of perfect plastic products. Only this maze doesn’t end. Everywhere he turns, he sees one cardboard cutout of a perfect couple and then another. This one is 9 months pregnant! How cute! These ones are strolling around with their two beautiful blonde-haired babies in a stroller. How nice! “Oh! Do you think this knife block will match well with the curtains in the kitchen?” “Yes dear! I’m so happy with you here, at IKEA, my favorite place on Earth!” And later… “Hey hon, do you think little Timmy will like this dresser? He can put his bubble gum and playing cards in there. It’s even magnetic so he can post his straight-A report card on it! Yayyyyy!!” And everywhere he turned, he just got deeper… and deeper… and deeper into the horrific beast. Tea Cozies to the left, squeegees to the right… Oh, look at this nice bathmat designed by the industrious Oscar Karlsson and his very productive team! They look so happy, and they *clearly* love working together at IKEA and their 25 weeks of paid holiday per year! And still, everywhere he ran, The Bearded Man just kept searching for something real. He’d wake up after a few hours of this soul-crushing nightmare, but he will say one thing: at least the music in the store was always decent, no matter how creepy the experience became.

They would start off by saying that ‘everyone knows’ the earth to be round, and if pressed further, would become angry. In a way Shaw is right. Make sure when you're directing people into your photo site you are directing them to a gallery of work that defines the type of work you are looking to shoot.
If your goal is to pick up portrait and wedding work I would not recommend directing people to a concert gallery. Sure you may love shooting concerts but the truth of the matter is you will most likely never make money shooting concerts.
On the flip side you have a better chance of making a living shooting portraits and weddings.

Make sure when you're directing people into your photo site you are directing them to a gallery of work that defines the type of work you are looking to shoot.
If your goal is to pick up portrait and wedding work I would not recommend directing people to a concert gallery. Sure you may love shooting concerts but the truth of the matter is you will most likely never make money shooting concerts.
On the flip side you have a better chance of making a living shooting portraits and weddings.

Steven Assael, the New York artist hailed by The Art Newspaper as "the foremost figurative painter of his generation", will exhibit his latest paintings and drawings at Forum Gallery, New York, from March 19 to May 2, 2009. The exhibition, Assaels seventh since joining the Gallery in 1998, focuses on public and private aspects of urban life and explores issues of intimacy, gender and personal identity. The portraits and narratives the artist paints touch on contact, isolation, sexuality and the journey through life.
In the paintings, Steven Assael employs his unique, characteristic sense of light and shadow to illuminate the characters and lives of his subjects. A featured painting, Crowd #1, 2009, oil on canvas, 72" x 96", was exhibited by Forum Gallery at The Armory Show Modern (New York, March 5-9) to preview the forthcoming exhibition. In this major work, Assael leaves specific location and narrative to the viewer. He shows a crowd of infinite number and depth, people to whom we relate but who do not relate to each other, no matter how close the gathering.
The drawings are striking in their detail and accuracy, always used in the interest and exploration of intimate moments of introspection. All of the drawings and paintings in the exhibition have been created since 2006.
Steven Assaels work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at museums from Chattanooga to Seattle and at galleries throughout the United States. Works have been chosen for curated group exhibitions at the Naples Museum of Art, FL; the Arkansas Art Center, the Evansville Museum, IN; and the Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, OK; among many. While the power structure (and the puppet media sources they control) continue their endless parade of mass distraction theater, the weather makers are unleashing wave after wave of toxic chemically ice nucleated short term cool-downs. The same engineered cool-down processes are being carried out in the Southern Hemisphere. A breaking news report from Argentina stated that 5 feet of hail fell in a matter of minutes. Is there another nuclear disaster unfolding in Asia? The heavy metal contamination from climate engineering is now causing Alzheimer's symptoms in yet more species, dolphins are one. In regard to warming of our planet, new extensive reports make clear it is not as bad as the former worst case predictions from the climate science community, rather, it is exponentially worse.
Do we stand down and allow the insanity to proliferate until nothing is left? No, we must stand up and face the storm head on, there is no other option. The power structure is not invincible, their web of control is unraveling by the day. We must all arm ourselves with credible data, and help with the critical effort to sound the alarm.

A playthrough of Acclaim's 1988 NES game, Rambo.

Rambo is a game that, no matter what else people want to accuse it of, does really try to stay as faithful to the movie (First Blood Part 2) as possible. It's an interesting Zelda 2/Castlevania II: Simon's Quest style action-adventure game, and while nowhere near as good as those games, is a reasonable enough a game in its own right.
The soundtrack is arguably the game's best feature, and really deserves a listen (I've linked it in the cards if you're interested), and the graphics are clean, colorful, and beyond ridiculous. Rambo struts around Nam on what appears to be someone's dad's Sunday-lounging red sweatpants (that, or he raided Karnovs closet and pulled the draw string REALLY tight), and some of these enemy designs are hilarious: my favorites are the rabid flamingos and the two bosses whose heads blow up to about 500x the normal size when they get hit.
Rambo is not intended at all for novice games, though. Like many NES games, the hit-detection is hyper-specific, so you'll oftentimes get hit by an enemy after thinking you got a hit - it feels a lot like The Battle of Olympus in that regard - and the most maddening issue with the game: until you've played it to death, the map layout will make no sense whatsoever. You can leave the right side of the screen, go back left, and sometimes find yourself somewhere utterly foreign. There is a system to it, but you won't get anywhere without making maps. I mean, sure, you could memorize it, but you'd be so frustrated that you'd probably never want to finish it without some form of note taking.
Finally, the dialogue scenes are nearly worth the price of the game alone. The art is insanely bad, the phrasings are all really amusingly stilted and awkward, and no matter how dramatic the plot is that is unfolding, you always get that stupid cheery dialogue music.
I always enjoyed the game, but no doubt nostalgia weighs heavy on this one. I beat it for the first time when I was 8 or 9, and always got a kick out of going back to it in the years following.
Co Bao lives in this playthrough, but if you'd like to see the action follow the movie a bit closer, jump to the end of the video. I included the "alternate" outcome that you get if you with her at the waterfall.
Also, please note that there are three specific spots where I spliced the recording together. I did this to grind out some experience without boring everyone to tears. The transitions can easily be seen if you look at the experience points and level at the top of the screen - they will jump at these transitions. Between all three gaps, I cut out around 13 minutes of the video, because really, how exciting can entering a screen, stabbing a stalactite, exiting, re-entering, and repeating be for minutes on end?

-------------------THE ISLAND CHALLENGE-----------?--
Far away in the Simsian Sea lies a tropical island without a name. It is home of two gods. One is the red fire god Llamatipoca who lives in the volcano of the island and is an unforgiving short tempered god who constantly ask for favors, rituals and offerings to still his hunger for attention. The other one is the absolute counterpart of the volcano god. It’s appearance is so beautiful that there is no comparison of beauty in the universe. It’s the wise white god of light, fertility and humor. They say it answers to the name of “Player.” This god wants that every plant, animal and Sim living on the island flourishes and reaches its full potential. “Player” keeps the balance of nature on the island and watches over every single being that lives on it. Especially the Sims.
Here the most important part of the Challenge..
What Happens If You Roll…:
(2) The white god shines it’s light of happiness and fertility on the island. Every Sim is suddenly feeling better and draws more hope out of this miracle. [make all Sims happy from spells list]
(3) Wow! What is this thing? What does it do? A new skill object gets washed ashore! You won’t believe what mysterious and odd objects can reach this island..amazing! [every skill object except electronic items is allowed, choose 1]
(4) 15 new twigs! [get 15 new twigs from debug mode in build mode and place them on the island]
(5) The white god is pleased with your achievements! He shines his bright light of wisdom on one of your Sims! [Sim of your choice gets 2 new skill points using the skill cheat in spells]
(6) The tide is declining and a new Sim gets washed ashore! Who is this? Where did this Sim come from? Only the gods know… [The Sim is fully random** in traits, aspiration and age. Appearance and sexuality is your desire. If you already have 8 Sims in the household you can ignore this will. We assume the Sim died on its exhausting journey to the island. Place a skeleton if you’d like it to look realistic]
(7) 5 new twigs! [get 5 new twigs from debug mode in build mode and place them on the island]
(8) Llamatipoca is sending a thunderstorm to the island. Sadly one of your Sims (your choice) gets struck by lightning and loses 4 skill points. [use cheat in spells]
(9) The white god has blessed one of your Sims! Your Sim suddenly has a new surviving talent! [give one Sim 4,000 aspiration points by using the cheat in spells]
(10) Llamatipoca is angry! Sacrifice 2 fully grown harvestable plants/trees to the volcano [delete in build mode] Bye bye harvest!
(11) Oh wow! This is exactly what we always wanted! Your Sims are so glad the gods have heard their prayers and sent them a new object to the island. [go shopping, go wild, you can choose whatever you like no matter costs in build/buy mode]
(12) Llamatipoca is absolutely furious that you are disturbing his sleep! Sacrifice a Sim in the volcano to calm him! Preferably a virgin. ;) [Let the Sims swim in the volcano pool and block the border with stones or fences. This Sim has to drown to death]

22:55 - the making of 'The Town With No Name' (so they call it, but I don't really see it as a "making of" thingy
I've done everything in this game I can think of, been to all places, done all the stuff you can do in them etc, but there are still more wanted posters in the rogue's gallery that are not crossed, and according to the screenshots over at Hall of Light (amiga game place), there seems to be more villains in the game, but I've done all I can and couldn't discover more stuff.
This game was a pain to emulate. I first played it in the latest version of WinUAE (2.3.1) and sat for like 3 hours trying to get the voices (they are cd tracks) to play properly, but no matter what I did the voices always started like 4 secs after the characters began to talk resulting in missing most of the speech. So I went back to my fav version (2.1.0) and immediately on my first try (running default quick config for CDTV) I got the sound to play tons better, no more 4 sec delay before they start to talk. Everything was still not perfect as most speech cuts off too early at the end and nothing I did could make it play better. So I settled with what I had. Now I had another problem, seems like WinUAE can't capture the audio from the cd tracks when recording, so my video was left with everything else but the cd audio. So, I had no choice but to use Fraps, which sucks. What's good about recording in WinUAE is that no matter how slow your computer is, no matter how busy your harddrive is, not even if while playing and recording at the same time and the game gets sound and video hickups, the result video will always result in perfect sound and no frames lost (unless the game itself is damaged). But with Fraps I don't have this luxury, so you will notice lots of sound hiccups and clicks.

Art and the unconscious as specific categories were formed at the same time, in late the 18th century. They have haunted each other since then. Something in art seems to be wide open, even conditioned by the unconscious, no matter how often artists and art critics try to keep art in place as perfectly intelligible. And the unconscious seems to be best understood throught art - even Sigmund Freud admitted that.
Between 1906 and 1922, the Swedish artist Hilma af Klint made over one thousand secret paintings. According to her, spirits werde guiding her hand in a very literal way. Ever since her secret work was shown in 1985, she has been considered as a test case to the sources behind early abstract art. But it is even more in- teresting to take her at her own word, and enter the unconscious world she is showing us.
Gertrud Sandqvist is Professor in the Theory and History of Ideas of Visual Art at Malmä Art Academy, Lund University, Swe- den. She has been a board member of the National Foundation for Swedish Culture of the Future since 2003. Since 2007 she has been chair of the steering committee of KUNO, the network organization of all Nordic Art Academies and she is a member of the international board of Maumaus-escola des artes Visuales, Lisbon. Gertrud Sandqvist writes extensively on mainly Nordic and Eurpean Contemporary Art.
