Depending on the mental state of the criminal, it is unknown whether or not they will be able to handle the pressure of a trial, or live with the prospect of spending the rest of their lives in court. While it is seen as a cowardly way out, suicides in the courtroom are not uncommon. In fact, many times defendants have to be searched and kept under close watch throughout the court process in order to prevent such a tragedy.
In this video are some of the most disturbing suicides that have ever taken place in a court of law. From taking cyanide pills to self-inflicted gunshot wounds, the criminals in this list never gave themselves a chance to serve their sentence. Instead, they took control of their own lives by ending it. For the victims they harmed, they are often upset by their perpetrator’s suicide and feel that at the end of the day, justice may or may not have been served.

A Kentucky judge got a surprise Friday: A defendant who went to court without pants. The woman’s attorney claimed jail officials in Jefferson County wouldn’t give her a jumpsuit or feminine hygiene products, though she had been locked up for three days.
Though soft-spoken, Judge Amber Wolf was anything but pleased to hear this.
“Excuse me?” she said and immediately got on her phone to figure out what why this had happened.
“Am I in the twilight zone?” she said to herself. “What is happening?”

Eventually, she reached Metro Corrections Deputy Director Dwayne Clark, who got an earful.
“I have a defendant who has been in jail for three days who is standing in front of me completely pantsless,” she said. “Has no pants on. She has requested pants for three days, and has been denied pants for three days. She has no pants and she is in court. And she has also been denied feminine hygiene products. What the hell is going on?”
Jail spokesman Steve Durham later told WDRB that all the rules had been followed.
“This is pretty standard that when individuals are arrested, they remain in the clothing that they’ve been arrested in, especially for the first 72 hours,” he said. Durham also claimed officials were looking into the allegation that inmates were not being given hygiene products. The woman’s attorney also alleged that inmates were being denied showers.
It’s pretty obvious that Wolf would think that rule needs some flexibility. In court, she told Clark she’d hold the defendant until court until some pants were delivered. “This is outrageous,” she said.
According to WDRD, Clark later said: “Dressed like she was, she should have been changed into a jumpsuit. I gotta look into why she wasn’t.”
Officials later brought the defendant a jumpsuit. She was later released from jail with time served and a $100 fine, according to WDRB. Wolf said she’d been in jail for too long: The defendant allegedly failed to complete a diversionary program for a first-time shoplifting charge. Certainly bad, but it should’ve only led to one jail in lockup, not three.

This has caused the courtroom to be one of the most unpredictable places in our society because you can never know what will happen and who will cause the chaos.

From shootings in the courtroom to the defendant’s family members causing a ruckus, these outbursts are unbelievable in the fact that they go against any acceptable methods of coping with stress and disaster. Hopefully no one will ever have to deal with the stresses of going to court and having their future hanging in the balance by a judge and a jury of their peers. But should they find themselves in the courtroom one day, may they take the lessons of these people into account and not repeat their actions.

A courtroom is the enclosed space in which a judge regularly holds court.
The schedule of official court proceedings is called a docket; the term is also synonymous with a court's caseload as a whole.

The judge generally sits behind a raised desk, known as the bench. Benches in U.S. federal courtrooms and some state courtrooms are usually bullet-resistant to protect judges from courtroom shootouts. Behind the judge are the great seal of the jurisdiction and the flags of the appropriate federal and state governments. Judges usually wear a plain black robe (a requirement in many jurisdictions). An exception was the late U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who broke tradition by adorning his robe with four gold stripes on each sleeve.
Adjacent to the bench are the witness stand and the desks where the court clerk and the court reporter sit. The courtroom is divided into two parts by a barrier known as the bar. The bar may be an actual railing, or an imaginary barrier. The bailiff stands (or sits) against one wall and keeps order in the courtroom.

From taking cyanide pills to self-inflicted gunshot wounds, the criminals in this list never gave themselves a chance to serve their sentence. Instead, they took control of their own lives by ending it. For the victims they harmed, they are often upset by their perpetrator’s suicide and feel that at the end of the day, justice may or may not have been served.

A Kentucky judge got a surprise Friday: A defendant who went to court without pants. The woman’s attorney claimed jail officials in Jefferson County wouldn’t give her a jumpsuit or feminine hygiene products, though she had been locked up for three days.
Though soft-spoken, Judge Amber Wolf was anything but pleased to hear this.
“Excuse me?” she said and immediately got on her phone to figure out what why this had happened.
“Am I in the twilight zone?” she said to herself. “What is happening?”

Eventually, she reached Metro Corrections Deputy Director Dwayne Clark, who got an earful.
“I have a defendant who has been in jail for three days who is standing in front of me completely pantsless,” she said. “Has no pants on. She has requested pants for three days, and has been denied pants for three days. She has no pants and she is in court. And she has also been denied feminine hygiene products. What the hell is going on?”
Jail spokesman Steve Durham later told WDRB that all the rules had been followed.
“This is pretty standard that when individuals are arrested, they remain in the clothing that they’ve been arrested in, especially for the first 72 hours,” he said. Durham also claimed officials were looking into the allegation that inmates were not being given hygiene products. The woman’s attorney also alleged that inmates were being denied showers.
It’s pretty obvious that Wolf would think that rule needs some flexibility. In court, she told Clark she’d hold the defendant until court until some pants were delivered. “This is outrageous,” she said.
According to WDRD, Clark later said: “Dressed like she was, she should have been changed into a jumpsuit. I gotta look into why she wasn’t.”
Officials later brought the defendant a jumpsuit. She was later released from jail with time served and a $100 fine, according to WDRB. Wolf said she’d been in jail for too long: The defendant allegedly failed to complete a diversionary program for a first-time shoplifting charge. Certainly bad, but it should’ve only led to one jail in lockup, not three.

This has caused the courtroom to be one of the most unpredictable places in our society because you can never know what will happen and who will cause the chaos.

From shootings in the courtroom to the defendant’s family members causing a ruckus, these outbursts are unbelievable in the fact that they go against any acceptable methods of coping with stress and disaster.
