Blue

Blue is the colour between violet and green on the optical spectrum of visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and 495 nanometres. Blues with a higher frequency and thus a shorter wavelength gradually look more violet, while those with a lower frequency and a longer wavelength gradually appear more green. Pure blue, in the middle, has a wavelength of 470 nanometres. In painting and traditional colour theory, blue is one of the three primary colours of pigments, along with red and yellow, which can be mixed to form a wide gamut of colours. Red and blue mixed together form violet, blue and yellow together form green. Blue is also a primary colour in the RGB colour model, used to create all the colours on the screen of a television or computer monitor.

The modern English word blue comes from Middle English bleu or blewe, from the Old French bleu, a word of Germanic origin, related to the Old High German word blao. The clear sky and the deep sea appear blue because of an optical effect known as Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, the blue wavelengths are scattered more widely by the oxygen and nitrogen molecules, and more blue comes to our eyes. Rayleigh scattering also explains blue eyes; there is no blue pigment in blue eyes. Distant objects appear more blue because of another optical effect called atmospheric perspective.

October Tide

October Tide is a death/doom metal side project that was created in 1995 by Katatonia vocalist Jonas Renkse and then-Katatonia guitarist Fred Norrman.

History

1995–1999

October Tide's debut album, Rain Without End, was recorded in 1995 and released on Vic Records in 1997. During this period October Tide maintained a low profile, deciding not to tour or give any interviews.

October Tide's second album, Grey Dawn, was released in 1999 by Avantgarde Music. The band enlisted Mårten Hansen of A Canorous Quintet to replace Renkse on vocals. The album was remastered and re-released by Peaceville Records in 2007. After the release of Grey Dawn, October Tide disbanded.

2009–2011

After leaving Katatonia, Norrman reformed October Tide in early 2009. The new line-up didn't include founding member Jonas Renkse, but instead consisted of Norrman on guitars, Tobias Netzell on vocals, Robin Bergh on drums and Jonas Kjellgren as a session bassist. The band entered the studio to record a new album. October Tide signed to Candlelight Records in March 2010.

Delray Beach, Florida

Delray Beach is a coastal city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 60,522. The population was estimated at 65,055 in 2014. Delray Beach is part of the Miami metropolitan area.

History

Early years

Recorded history began with the construction of the Orange Grove House of Refuge in 1876. The house derived its name from the grove of mature sour orange and other tropical fruit trees found at the site chosen for the house of refuge, but no record or evidence of who planted the trees has survived.

Settlement began around 1884, when African-Americans from the Panhandle of Florida purchased land a little inland from the Orange Grove House of Refuge and began farming. By 1894 the Black community was large enough to establish the first school in the area.

In 1894 William S. Linton, a Republican US Congressman for Saginaw, Michigan, bought a tract of land just west of the Orange Grove House of Refuge, and began selling plots in what he hoped would become a farming community. Initially, this community was named after Linton. In 1896 Henry Flagler extended his Florida East Coast Railroad south from West Palm Beach to Miami, with a station at Linton.
