London 
i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.

The Times
The Times is a British daily national newspaper based in London. It began in 1785 under the title The Daily Universal Register and became The Times on 1 January 1788. The Times and its sister paper The Sunday Times (founded in 1821) are published by Times Newspapers, since 1981 a subsidiary of News UK, itself wholly owned by the News Corp group headed by Rupert Murdoch. The Times and The Sunday Times do not share editorial staff, were founded independently and have only had common ownership since 1967.
In 1959, historian of journalism Allan Nevins analysed the importance of The Times in shaping the views of events of London's elite:
The Times is the first newspaper to have borne that name, lending it to numerous other papers around the world, including The Times of India (founded in 1838), The Straits Times (Singapore) (1845), The New York Times (1851), The Irish Times (1859), Le Temps (France) (1861-1942), the Cape Times (South Africa) (1872), the Los Angeles Times (1881), The Seattle Times (1891), The Manila Times (1898), The Daily Times (Malawi) (1900), El Tiempo (Colombia) (1911), The Canberra Times (1926), and The Times (Malta) (1935). In these countries, the newspaper is often referred to as The London Times or The Times of London.

Turn on the Bright Lights
Turn On the Bright Lights is the debut studio album by the American rock band Interpol, released in August 2002. The album was recorded in November 2001 at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, and was co-produced, mixed and engineered by Peter Katis and Gareth Jones. It was released on August 19, 2002 in the United Kingdom and August 20 in the United States, through independent record label Matador Records. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.
"PDA", "NYC", "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels".
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 29, 2011 for shipments of 500,000 copies.
A remastered version of the album was released in 2012 to commemorate its tenth anniversary. It featured additional material including demo recordings of several tracks, the bonus songs previously available on international releases and a DVD of live performances and music videos.

The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

PriestmanGoode’s design for the New Tube for London is inspired by contemporary London, its culture and architectural landmarks, and iconic British transport design, The New Tube for London features a walk-through design, air-cooled cars, digital screens to enable live updates, wider doors to facilitate quicker turnaround times at stations and increased capacity. Natural finishes and materials in a palette of colours including charcoal, warm grey and oxblood were derived from looking at heritage and contemporary architecture and landmarks in London. Paul Priestman comments: 'London's Tube is one of the most iconic trains around the world. We are proud to have designed something that it is part of the very fabric of London life, celebrating all that's great about London's environment; cutting edge technology, rich history and diversity. The New Tube for London will take the city into the future by enriching the everyday journey of its passengers.'

They're traveling on their very own custom made motorbikes, each carrying an individual letter to help spell out 'OFFSET'. Slow Motion London: One Man Band
TOTALLY unplanned, random shot that I just captured whilst driving around London. This is first part of series called "Slow Motion London" I have 60 hours of rushes so a lot to work from...each film will have a theme. Shot on the Sony F55 in 2K raw at 240fps unfortunately without the 2K OLPF as I haven't got one. This stops aliasing and moire in this mode. This started out as simply getting a few b-roll London shots for a film commissioned by the government I am making with my new business partner James Miller for our new production company. We needed some shots of the Shard and James suggested slow motion from the truck purely so it can be stabilised beautifully in post for real time. I usually make stopmotion videos, but thought I would take a break and make a one-off timelapse video. Here it is.
All the footage was taken over a three week period in November 2011, except for the first two daytime scenes of St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium bridge at the beginning which were taken near the end of October 2011, and the rotation scene at Oxford Circus halfway through the video which was taken as part of another project earlier in the year for Minimood Records.

I uploaded that at 2896x1936 resolution.

EQUIPMENT: a Canon 5D Mark II [with a Canon f/1.4 50mm and a f/1.4 24mm lens], and an Olympus EPL3 [with a Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens], and a basic tripod.

DETAILS:
I'm not normally a fan of timelapse videos, but there are a lot of scenes in London I wanted to include in a stopmotion video but couldn't find a way of connecting them together - the only way to do that was by a timelapse montage.
Initially I uploaded a simple version with all the clips joined together, but that seemed lazy and boring, so I redid it with transitions between most of the clips. I tried to zoom into areas in one clip that were similar to areas in another clip, so by zooming and panning in and then zooming out into another clip the transitions look more fluid. As the photos were taken at 4080x2720 on the 5D2 and 4032x2272 on the EPL3 this meant that for most scenes enough detail was there for me to zoom in a lot. Although in some scenes you'll see a bit of noise as I zoomed in over 2,000% some times. I didn't get the zoom/panning idea until after I had taken all the footage. If I had thought of it beforehand then I would've recorded it all at full 21MP [5616x3744 res] on the 5D2. Oh well. For other transitions I used the BCC [Boris Continuum Complete] swish transition and the BCC blur transition. Another method was by overlaying the ends of two clips and adjusting the opacity of each so they fade into each other.
One scene near the beginning of the video is stopmotion rather than timelapsing - across the Millennium Bridge. I did that with an EPL3. I attached the cam to a tripod and held it way above my head in continuous shot mode using a cable release and just walked incredibly slowly. I had to hold it high above my head because at normal level it looked too choppy with so many people bustling passed. I got a few strange looks doing that, but the effect was worth it I think.
Vimeo has a resolution limit, but I've uploaded the video at the original resolution on youtube, which is 4080x2720: http://youtu.be/gd4qPMORosI So those with a good internet connection can view it in 4k quality. That version has a different [and admittedly rather weird] piano piece I also made.

N.B. The video has a 3:2 scale because the Canon 5D2 takes photos with a 3:2 scale and most of the footage was taken with a 5D2. I cropped the Olympus EPL3 footage to fit this.

All the daytime footage at the beginning was taken on an EPL3 in diorama mode for a mild tilt-shift effect [continuous shooting with a release cable]. The night scenes were mostly taken with a 5D2, mostly using a Canon f/1.4 50mm prime lens. I didn't acquire the 24mm f/1.4 lens until near the end. I wanted longer exposures for traffic light trails, so the shutter mostly ranged between 1-2 secs.

In 2009, Brit Nathan Millward was enjoying life working in a cafe in Sydney, but the good times were cut short after his Visa extension was denied and he was given 3 days to pack up his life in Australia and exit the country. Rather than booking a flight back to the UK, he made the bold decision to hit the road and ride home. He packed his world belongings into a box, strapped it to the back of his trusty 105cc Honda postman's bike (max speed 40mph) and embarked on the ride of his life. He set off with no Visas in place, no mechanical knowledge and wasn't even sure if his cash would stretch the 23,000 mile ride home . . . Little did Nathan know as he rode away from the Sydney Opera House that morning, he was at the start of a grand journey that would take him further than he ever could have imagined. A journey not just of epic proportions, but one that would take him right to the extremities of personal discovery and ultimately, would take him in search of the end of the road.

Six International characters from across the globe are en route to OFFSET’s first international design conference held in London. They're traveling on their very own custom made motorbikes, each carrying an individual letter to help spell out 'OFFSET'. While driving on the road, they each leave a messy trail that help spell out the 18 guest speakers names.
Stoked to be invited to direct this piece. Damien Bastelica created this piece with me the whole way through so an extra thanks to himself!! Thanks to Michael Girandola for all his time with the camera shoots! Big shout to Gavin Little and his crew at ECHOLAB for doing a sick job on the sound design and a huge cheers to Lisa Haran and Bren Byrne for asking me to be a part of their amazing conference. All the characters are made out of clay and hand painted 4 times or more to create the boiling/flickering effect which was inspired by a technique I saw Conor Finnegan do. All the background props and guest names are cell animated.
Equipment: Clay, wire(for the skeleton structure of the characters), an oven(to bake some parts of the clay), Acrylic paint, a Cannon 5D camera, and a mini light-box studio

TOTALLY unplanned, random shot that I just captured whilst driving around London.
This is first part of series called "Slow Motion London" I have 60 hours of rushes so a lot to work from...each film will have a theme.
Shot on the Sony F55 in 2K raw at 240fps unfortunately without the 2K OLPF as I haven't got one. This stops aliasing and moire in this mode.
This started out as simply getting a few b-roll London shots for a film commissioned by the government I am making with my new business partner James Miller for our new production company. We needed some shots of the Shard and James suggested slow motion from the truck purely so it can be stabilised beautifully in post for real time.
Whilst doing this I got some shots of people in frame by default. When I got home and saw the footage I loved the slow motion, even though at the time it was just 150fps in XAVC HD. I decided I wanted to get some more because it felt like a variation of street photography, something I adore doing. In fact I have shot many a roll of film driving a long and pointing the camera out of the window and some human moment I saw.
I know some are going to compare to other slow motion pieces that are out there but they honestly didn't influence me at all, I didn't actually see them until they were shared with me after I put some snippets of the shots I was doing on Instagram video. Super cool stuff though! If anything has influenced me when it comes to slow motion it would be two things. Radiohead's Street Spirit (Fade Out) music video directed by Jonathan Glazer and the astonishing Baraka by Ron Fricke
What I have been trying to do is capture shots which capture emotion or ideally tell a story. Very simple stories but stories nevertheless, like this one here. I haven't shot any tight shots of faces, everything is medium wide to very wide.
I switched to the much faster speed of 240fps for the rest of the filming but this has to be 2K raw as it's the only war the camera can do it. On the way to and from every shoot I captured more stuff. It took 3/4 times longer to get home each time because of it as I kept on driving the wrong way or in circles or doubled back on myself if I saw something/ someone!
The glass I used was mostly the Sigma/ GL Optics 18-35mm F1.8 and the Duclos / Tokina 11-16 F2. 8. F-Stop varied but I tried to keep the DOF deep-ish as I was not actually operating the camera because I was driving. Think of me as a glorified dolly grip! Although I did change focal length and adjust exposure when needed I concentrated on my driving of course but also making sure my speed matched the shot I was trying to achieve. You can see my beast of a truck in the reflections in the bus, plus look carefully and you can see the F55 too!
Here I tried to keep up with Dan, other times I judged my "drive by" speed to work in conjunction with the 240fps. Never fast as that wouldn't work....and yes I am sure i annoyed many drivers whilst doing this but honestly in London it made little difference. If you drive at 10 mph or 30 mph you all end up at the same traffic lights!
Daniel Mckenzie-Cossou, who is the "one man band" of the title, is someone I have never met. In fact I only learned who it was I had filmed this morning after I shared my snippet on Instagram and asked if anyone knew who it was. Dan himself saw it and tweeted me!
I, like many of you, have done and still do what Dan is doing...dragging the gear to a location. I think he has a C300 in the Peli plus tripod and everything else....there is only so much you can carry as a one man band after all!
My F55 was on a tripod wedged around the passenger seat. A bungee went around the handle for security and I had my wonderful Small HD DP7 Pro plugged in for reference. It was as simple as that. The hard bit was finding the shots I wanted and controlling my truck to get what I needed, avoiding pot holes and bumpy parts of the road to get the best shot I could and the right speed.
The F55 is a great camera...I wish it could do 240fps in 2K in XAVC rather than raw! Saves on data. I have shot in total, so far, 11 512gb AXSM cards for the R5 raw recorder. in 2K this normally is 4 hours of real time video up to 30p. In 240 fps 25p which is what i shot in you can roll for 24 minutes per card. When played back as slow motion that equates to around 4 hours of rushes. Times that by 11 cards and that is around 44 hours of rushes to go through. I have barely scraped the surface!
I will do an edit soon from this...it's just there is 44 hours of rushes! GULP! :)

On the way to and from every shoot I captured more stuff. It took 3/4 times longer to get home each time because of it as I kept on driving the wrong way or in circles or doubled back on myself if I saw something/ someone!
The glass I used was mostly the Sigma/ GL Optics 18-35mm F1.8 and the Duclos / Tokina 11-16 F2. 8. F-Stop varied but I tried to keep the DOF deep-ish as I was not actually operating the camera because I was driving. Think of me as a glorified dolly grip! Although I did change focal length and adjust exposure when needed I concentrated on my driving of course but also making sure my speed matched the shot I was trying to achieve. You can see my beast of a truck in the reflections in the bus, plus look carefully and you can see the F55 too!
Here I tried to keep up with Dan, other times I judged my "drive by" speed to work in conjunction with the 240fps. Never fast as that wouldn't work....and yes I am sure i annoyed many drivers whilst doing this but honestly in London it made little difference. If you drive at 10 mph or 30 mph you all end up at the same traffic lights!
Daniel Mckenzie-Cossou, who is the "one man band" of the title, is someone I have never met. In fact I only learned who it was I had filmed this morning after I shared my snippet on Instagram and asked if anyone knew who it was. Dan himself saw it and tweeted me!
I, like many of you, have done and still do what Dan is doing...dragging the gear to a location. I think he has a C300 in the Peli plus tripod and everything else....there is only so much you can carry as a one man band after all!
My F55 was on a tripod wedged around the passenger seat. A bungee went around the handle for security and I had my wonderful Small HD DP7 Pro plugged in for reference. It was as simple as that. The hard bit was finding the shots I wanted and controlling my truck to get what I needed, avoiding pot holes and bumpy parts of the road to get the best shot I could and the right speed.
The F55 is a great camera...I wish it could do 240fps in 2K in XAVC rather than raw! Saves on data. I have shot in total, so far, 11 512gb AXSM cards for the R5 raw recorder. in 2K this normally is 4 hours of real time video up to 30p. In 240 fps 25p which is what i shot in you can roll for 24 minutes per card. When played back as slow motion that equates to around 4 hours of rushes. Times that by 11 cards and that is around 44 hours of rushes to go through. I have barely scraped the surface!
I will do an edit soon from this...it's just there is 44 hours of rushes! GULP! :)

Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful.
In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right.
In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas.

So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer.

Six International characters from across the globe are en route to OFFSET’s first international design conference held in London. They're traveling on their very own custom made motorbikes, each carrying an individual letter to help spell out 'OFFSET'. Slow Motion London: One Man Band
TOTALLY unplanned, random shot that I just captured whilst driving around London. This is first part of series called "Slow Motion London" I have 60 hours of rushes so a lot to work from...each film will have a theme. Shot on the Sony F55 in 2K raw at 240fps unfortunately without the 2K OLPF as I haven't got one. This stops aliasing and moire in this mode. This started out as simply getting a few b-roll London shots for a film commissioned by the government I am making with my new business partner James Miller for our new production company. We needed some shots of the Shard and James suggested slow motion from the truck purely so it can be stabilised beautifully in post for real time. SOFTWARE: I turned the image sequences into videos and applied the transitions in After Effects [details below].

DETAILS:
I'm not normally a fan of timelapse videos, but there are a lot of scenes in London I wanted to include in a stopmotion video but couldn't find a way of connecting them together - the only way to do that was by a timelapse montage.
Initially I uploaded a simple version with all the clips joined together, but that seemed lazy and boring, so I redid it with transitions between most of the clips. I tried to zoom into areas in one clip that were similar to areas in another clip, so by zooming and panning in and then zooming out into another clip the transitions look more fluid. As the photos were taken at 4080x2720 on the 5D2 and 4032x2272 on the EPL3 this meant that for most scenes enough detail was there for me to zoom in a lot. Although in some scenes you'll see a bit of noise as I zoomed in over 2,000% some times. I didn't get the zoom/panning idea until after I had taken all the footage. If I had thought of it beforehand then I would've recorded it all at full 21MP [5616x3744 res] on the 5D2. Oh well. For other transitions I used the BCC [Boris Continuum Complete] swish transition and the BCC blur transition. Another method was by overlaying the ends of two clips and adjusting the opacity of each so they fade into each other.
One scene near the beginning of the video is stopmotion rather than timelapsing - across the Millennium Bridge. I did that with an EPL3. I attached the cam to a tripod and held it way above my head in continuous shot mode using a cable release and just walked incredibly slowly. I had to hold it high above my head because at normal level it looked too choppy with so many people bustling passed. I got a few strange looks doing that, but the effect was worth it I think.
Vimeo has a resolution limit, but I've uploaded the video at the original resolution on youtube, which is 4080x2720: http://youtu.be/gd4qPMORosI So those with a good internet connection can view it in 4k quality. That version has a different [and admittedly rather weird] piano piece I also made.

I usually make stopmotion videos, but thought I would take a break and make a one-off timelapse video. Here it is.
All the footage was taken over a three week period in November 2011, except for the first two daytime scenes of St Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium bridge at the beginning which were taken near the end of October 2011, and the rotation scene at Oxford Circus halfway through the video which was taken as part of another project earlier in the year for Minimood Records.

I uploaded that at 2896x1936 resolution.

EQUIPMENT: a Canon 5D Mark II [with a Canon f/1.4 50mm and a f/1.4 24mm lens], and an Olympus EPL3 [with a Panasonic Lumix 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens], and a basic tripod.

SOFTWARE: I turned the image sequences into videos and applied the transitions in After Effects [details below].

DETAILS:
I'm not normally a fan of timelapse videos, but there are a lot of scenes in London I wanted to include in a stopmotion video but couldn't find a way of connecting them together - the only way to do that was by a timelapse montage.
Initially I uploaded a simple version with all the clips joined together, but that seemed lazy and boring, so I redid it with transitions between most of the clips. Six International characters from across the globe are en route to OFFSET’s first international design conference held in London. They're traveling on their very own custom made motorbikes, each carrying an individual letter to help spell out 'OFFSET'. While driving on the road, they each leave a messy trail that help spell out the 18 guest speakers names.
Stoked to be invited to direct this piece. Damien Bastelica created this piece with me the whole way through so an extra thanks to himself!! Thanks to Michael Girandola for all his time with the camera shoots! TOTALLY unplanned, random shot that I just captured whilst driving around London.
This is first part of series called "Slow Motion London" I have 60 hours of rushes so a lot to work from...each film will have a theme.
Shot on the Sony F55 in 2K raw at 240fps unfortunately without the 2K OLPF as I haven't got one. This stops aliasing and moire in this mode.
This started out as simply getting a few b-roll London shots for a film commissioned by the government I am making with my new business partner James Miller for our new production company. We needed some shots of the Shard and James suggested slow motion from the truck purely so it can be stabilised beautifully in post for real time.
Whilst doing this I got some shots of people in frame by default. When I got home and saw the footage I loved the slow motion, even though at the time it was just 150fps in XAVC HD. I decided I wanted to get some more because it felt like a variation of street photography, something I adore doing. In fact I have shot many a roll of film driving a long and pointing the camera out of the window and some human moment I saw.
I know some are going to compare to other slow motion pieces that are out there but they honestly didn't influence me at all, I didn't actually see them until they were shared with me after I put some snippets of the shots I was doing on Instagram video. Super cool stuff though! If anything has influenced me when it comes to slow motion it would be two things. Radiohead's Street Spirit (Fade Out) music video directed by Jonathan Glazer and the astonishing Baraka by Ron Fricke
What I have been trying to do is capture shots which capture emotion or ideally tell a story. Very simple stories but stories nevertheless, like this one here. I haven't shot any tight shots of faces, everything is medium wide to very wide.
I switched to the much faster speed of 240fps for the rest of the filming but this has to be 2K raw as it's the only war the camera can do it. On the way to and from every shoot I captured more stuff. It took 3/4 times longer to get home each time because of it as I kept on driving the wrong way or in circles or doubled back on myself if I saw something/ someone!
The glass I used was mostly the Sigma/ GL Optics 18-35mm F1.8 and the Duclos / Tokina 11-16 F2. 8. F-Stop varied but I tried to keep the DOF deep-ish as I was not actually operating the camera because I was driving. Think of me as a glorified dolly grip! Although I did change focal length and adjust exposure when needed I concentrated on my driving of course but also making sure my speed matched the shot I was trying to achieve. You can see my beast of a truck in the reflections in the bus, plus look carefully and you can see the F55 too!
Here I tried to keep up with Dan, other times I judged my "drive by" speed to work in conjunction with the 240fps. Never fast as that wouldn't work....and yes I am sure i annoyed many drivers whilst doing this but honestly in London it made little difference. If you drive at 10 mph or 30 mph you all end up at the same traffic lights!
Daniel Mckenzie-Cossou, who is the "one man band" of the title, is someone I have never met. In fact I only learned who it was I had filmed this morning after I shared my snippet on Instagram and asked if anyone knew who it was. Dan himself saw it and tweeted me!
I, like many of you, have done and still do what Dan is doing...dragging the gear to a location. I think he has a C300 in the Peli plus tripod and everything else....there is only so much you can carry as a one man band after all!
My F55 was on a tripod wedged around the passenger seat. A bungee went around the handle for security and I had my wonderful Small HD DP7 Pro plugged in for reference. It was as simple as that. The hard bit was finding the shots I wanted and controlling my truck to get what I needed, avoiding pot holes and bumpy parts of the road to get the best shot I could and the right speed.
The F55 is a great camera...I wish it could do 240fps in 2K in XAVC rather than raw! Saves on data. I have shot in total, so far, 11 512gb AXSM cards for the R5 raw recorder. in 2K this normally is 4 hours of real time video up to 30p. In 240 fps 25p which is what i shot in you can roll for 24 minutes per card. When played back as slow motion that equates to around 4 hours of rushes. Times that by 11 cards and that is around 44 hours of rushes to go through. I have barely scraped the surface!
I will do an edit soon from this...it's just there is 44 hours of rushes! GULP! :)
