On je bio na Interpola listi najtraženijih u 1970-ih i 1980-ih za pljačke i ubistva počinjena u velikom broju zemalja širom Evrope, a kasnije je optužen od strane UN-a za zločine protiv čovječnosti zbog svoje uloge tokom rata . Ražnatovićeva je do svoje smrti najmoćniji mafijaški bos na Balkanu . On je ubijen 2000. godine, pre nego što je suđenje moglo doći.

The Serbian paramilitary leader Zeljko Raznatovic, also known as Arkan, has been shot dead in a gun battle at Belgrade's Inter-Continental Hotel.
It's believed he was shot in the eye during an exchange of fire that left another man dead.
Arkan - who's real name is Zeljko Raznatovic - led a Serb paramilitary group during the Bosnian and Croatian wars.
His private army, the Serb Volunteer Guard, also called "Tigers," was the most notorious paramilitary group operating during the war in the former Yugoslavia.
Arkan was indicted for war crimes by the International Court of Justice in the Hague in 1997, but the indictment was kept under wraps until the NATO air campaign in the Balkans began in March.
The tribunal made public his indictment in an apparent attempt to dissuade him from joining the Serb crackdown in Kosovo.
It's alleged that he instigated a series of atrocities between 1992 and 1995.
Arkan is accused of being behind the 1991 massacres in Eastern Slavonia in Croatia, and of orchestrating a campaign of ethnic cleansing against Bosnian Moslems in eastern Bosnia.
Some 14-hundred Bosnians were killed in the Bosnian village of Foca.
The killings started in the spring of 1992 allegedly with the arrival of Arkan's and other paramilitary groups.
Before long, all the villages and the suburbs in which mostly Muslims lived were burned to the ground.
During the Balkan conflict, Arkan pictured himself as a war hero, saviour of the national interests.
He has denied involvement in war crimes.

In the bloody breakup of Yugoslavia, the Belgrade ice cream parlor owner reputedly became one of Serbia's richest men, allegedly through the currency black market, oil smuggling and arms dealing.
His "Tigers" militia, meanwhile, became known for savagery.
During the NATO bombardment of Yugoslavia, which ended with the withdrawal of Milosevic's forces from Kosovo and the entry of NATO-led peacekeepers, Arkan frequently warned the Atlantic Alliance against a land invasion, threatening fierce resistance if that happened.

Od tada imaju sve veće protekcije, slobodu da rade šta im je volja i ponašaju se bahato. Sve je eksplodiralo početkom devedesetih kada je izbio rat na prostoru bivše Jugoslavije, kada su političke stranke počele da vrbuju te iste kriminalce u sopstvene redove, kada je oružje preplavilo Srbiju, a samo u Beogradu se pojavilo na desetine klanova koji su međusobno ratovali.
U prvoj epiozodi prikazan je uspon dvoijice čuvenih članova beogradskog podzemlja - Željka Ražnatovića Arkana i Đorđa Božovića Giške koji je smatran prvim vođom voždovačkog klana.
Rekonstruisane su spektaklurne pljačke evropskih banaka, u kojima se vodilo računa da ne bude povređenih i gotovo filmska bekstva iz najstrožijih zatvora širom Evrope.

Early life
Željko Ražnatović was born in Brežice, a small border town in Slovenian Styria, FPR Yugoslavia. His father, Veljko Ražnatović, served as a decorated officer in the SFR Yugoslav Air Force, earning high rank for his notable World War II involvement on the Partisan side, and was stationed in Slovenian Styria at the time of Željko's birth.
He spent part of his childhood in Zagreb (SR Croatia) and Pančevo (SR Serbia), before his father's job eventually took the family to the Yugoslav capital of Belgrade (SR Serbia), which Ražnatović considered his hometown. His father was born in Cetinje (SR Montenegro), a descendant of the Ražnatović brotherhood, and had taken part in the Yugoslav liberation of Priština in World War II.

Plot: While driving on tour late night through a lonely road in the countryside of Spain, the van of the punk band "Killer Barbys" has an accident and breaks down. A creepy old man invites the group to spend the night in the castle of Countess Von Fledermaus and presents himself as her secretary Arkan. Arkan explains that the mechanic is located 62 km far from the location and he tells that the Countess loves youths. Flavia, Rafa and Mario accept the invitation but Billy and Sharon stay shagging in the van. When the musicians meet the Countess, they find that she is the ancient artist Olga Luchan and they question how she could keep so young. But sooner they discover that the Countess needs blood of young people to keep her beauty.

The Serbian paramilitary leader Zeljko Raznatovic, also known as Arkan, has been shot dead in a gun battle at Belgrade's Inter-Continental Hotel.
It's believed he was shot in the eye during an exchange of fire that left another man dead.
Arkan - who's real name is Zeljko Raznatovic - led a Serb paramilitary group during the Bosnian and Croatian wars.
His private army, the Serb Volunteer Guard, also called "Tigers," was the most notorious paramilitary group operating during the war in the former Yugoslavia.
Arkan was indicted for war crimes by the International Court of Justice in the Hague in 1997, but the indictment was kept under wraps until the NATO air campaign in the Balkans began in March.
The tribunal made public his indictment in an apparent attempt to dissuade him from joining the Serb crackdown in Kosovo.
It's alleged that he instigated a series of atrocities between 1992 and 1995.
Arkan is accused of being behind the 1991 massacres in Eastern Slavonia in Croatia, and of orchestrating a campaign of ethnic cleansing against Bosnian Moslems in eastern Bosnia.
Some 14-hundred Bosnians were killed in the Bosnian village of Foca.
The killings started in the spring of 1992 allegedly with the arrival of Arkan's and other paramilitary groups.
Before long, all the villages and the suburbs in which mostly Muslims lived were burned to the ground.
During the Balkan conflict, Arkan pictured himself as a war hero, saviour of the national interests.
He has denied involvement in war crimes.

In the bloody breakup of Yugoslavia, the Belgrade ice cream parlor owner reputedly became one of Serbia's richest men, allegedly through the currency black market, oil smuggling and arms dealing.
His "Tigers" militia, meanwhile, became known for savagery.
During the NATO bombardment of Yugoslavia, which ended with the withdrawal of Milosevic's forces from Kosovo and the entry of NATO-led peacekeepers, Arkan frequently warned the Atlantic Alliance against a land invasion, threatening fierce resistance if that happened.
He and his wife Ceca, a popular Serbian folk singer, were frequent nightly visitors to Belgrade's Hyatt Hotel during the bombing, apparently fearing to stay at home and risk becoming a NATO target.

The interview was broadcast live on Yugoslavian Television and also aired in some western countries. At this time the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia had just begun. "The bombing of then-Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, begun March 24, 1999, was in essence a demonstration of power by which the Atlantic Empire chose to reveal itself to the world. During the conflicts in Croatia and Bosnia (1991-1995), the Alliance gradually claimed more and more authority, until it was driving the UN, and not the other way around. But on March 24, 1999, NATO - and Washington - would bypass the UN entirely.
It is said today that the war ("intervention") was fought to protect the innocent ethnic Albanians, who were being "oppressed" by a vicious Serbian regime. But insiders have admitted the purpose of the bombing had little to do with Serbs or the Albanians, and much to do with power politics, especially the U.S. relations with Russia."

After a robbery and killing spree across Western Europe in the 1970s and jailbreaks in Belgium, Holland, Sweden... Arkan became untouchable across Yugoslavia. His bravado and good fortune led to the speculation that Arkan was already working for the Yugoslav State Security, the UDBA and was used in the assassination of several of Tito's Yugoslav opponents abroad. In the 1980s Arkan was back in Belgrade with high-level connections in the state apparatus, particularly close to the Slovenian Stane Dolanc, a hard-liner and Tito's federal interior minister.
This system of hiring of convicts into the Yugoslav security service, who were used to assassinate Yugoslav political exiles, is said to have been created earlier by Edvard Kardelj, also Slovenian. Tito's main ideologist, Kardelj had a major influence on the Yugoslav military intelligence service, the KOS. He was behind the granting of safe haven in the country to criminals in exchange for their services. Many of these people , protected even from Interpol, were alleged to have robbed banks, and carried on other criminal activities all over Western Europe. Arkan is said to have begun as Edvard Kardelj's protégé.
During the wars in Croatia and Bosnia, Arkan's "Tigers" answered directly to Serbia's Ministry of Interior. In April 1992, they stormed the Bosnian towns of Bijeljina and Zvornik, securing strategic links between later Serb-held territories in Bosnia with Serbia.
According to the Hague War Crimes Tribunal an indictment against Arkan was issued in 1997. The warrant was kept sealed and was made public in March 1999, a week after NATO bombing in Yugoslavia started.
On 15 January 2000, Arkan was shot dead, while lounging in a leather chair in the lobby of Belgrade's Inter Continental Hotel, together with 2 of his companions. Nearly 7 years later, a court in Serbia convicted 8 men of the murders, one of them an off-duty policeman.
Ron Haviv's photograph of a Serb gunman about to kick a bleeding woman in the head is one of the most striking images to come out of the Balkans in the 1990s.
It was spring 1992 in Bijeljina and Arkan's "Tigers" had just entered the town. Gunmen had just shot two Muslim women and a man. As they lay there dying, taunted by their killers, Ron Haviv was able to take the photo. That he was able to get close enough to take the photo was because of an invitation by Arkan himself.
Arkan was furious when that picture was published and put out a death warrant on Haviv, stating publicly that he looked forward to drinking his blood. But Arkan had personally invited Haviv to photograph what he called the "liberation" of Bijeljina from Muslims.
Haviv remembers: "It was a combination of luck and playing to Arkan's ego. He was a very smart man, fluent in several languages and he thought he had the ability to control his own image.
Haviv, a US photo-journalist who chronicled the break-up of Yugoslavia has won several "World Press" and "Picture of the Year" awards.

For the last week and a half, a good number of PC gamers have been (im)patiently awaiting a patch to fix the myriad performance issues Dishonored 2 had at launch. Friday’s 1.1 beta patch was a mouse-fixing teaser, but today’s 1.2 patch is more of a main course ... I was pretty bummed by how Dishonored 2 launched on PC, but I have to give the developers at Arkane credit for turning around this many fixes in such a short amount of time ... ....
