It is said that the legendary Ahmet Ertegun, listening to a Television audition for Atlantic Records, turned to an associate and said, "I can't sign this band. It is not Earth music."
"Persia" is a remarkable extended jam that Television frequently played during their 2002-3 tours. It features some blistering Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd solos with a Middle-Eastern flavor that gives it a, well, other-worldly vibe. Ertegun knew what he was talking about but that was one of the few times he couldn't appreciate the grandeur in the ferocity that confronted him.

There are worthwhile early Television songs recorded that Richard Hell co-wrote & sings. It's too bad every time I try uploading any of them, they get spiked by a copyright infringement claim by "Richard Meyers" (Hell's real name). Bloody Hell!
A bootleg called "Poor Circulation" contains many of these early, unreleased Television songs, including "I'm Gonna Find You," and including Hell-sung songs. It's available as a direct download in FLAC format here:

Television (band)
Television is an American rock band, formed in New York City in 1973 and considered influential in the development of punk and alternative music.
Television was an early fixture of CBGB and the 1970s New York rock scene. Although they recorded in a stripped-down, guitar-based manner similar to their punk contemporaries, the band's music was by comparison clean, improvisational, and technically proficient, drawing influence from avant-garde jazz and 1960s rock. The group's debut album, Marquee Moon, is often considered one of the defining releases of the punk era.
History
Early history and formation
Television's roots can be traced to the teenage friendship between Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell. The duo met at Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware, from which they ran away. Both moved to New York, separately, in the early 1970s, aspiring to be poets.
Their first group together was the Neon Boys, consisting of Verlaine on guitar and vocals, Hell on bass and vocals and Billy Ficca on drums. The group lasted from late 1972 to late 1973. A 7-inch record featuring "That's All I Know (Right Now)" and "Love Comes in Spurts" was released in 1980.

Television
Television is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting sound with moving images in monochrome (black-and-white), or in colour, and in two or three dimensions. It can refer to a television set, a television program, or the medium of television transmission. Television is a mass medium, for entertainment, education, news and advertising.
Television became available in crude experimental forms in the late 1920s. After World War II, an improved form became popular in the United States and Britain, and television sets became commonplace in homes, businesses, and institutions. During the 1950s, television was the primary medium for influencing public opinion. In the mid-1960s, color broadcasting was introduced in the US and most other developed countries. The availability of storage media such as VHS tape (1976), DVDs (1997), and high-definition Blu-ray Discs (2006) enabled viewers to watch recorded material such as movies. At the end of the first decade of the 2000s, digital television transmissions greatly increased in popularity. Another development was the move from standard-definition television (SDTV) (576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution and 480i) to high-definition television (HDTV), which provides a resolution that is substantially higher. HDTV may be transmitted in various formats: 1080p, 1080i and 720p. Since 2010, with the invention of smart television, Internet television has increased the availability of television programs and movies via the Internet through services such as Netflix, iPlayer, Hulu, Roku and Chromecast.

"Persia" is a remarkable extended jam that Television frequently played during their 2002-3 tours. It features some blistering Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd solos with a Middle-Eastern flavor that gives it a, well, other-worldly vibe. Ertegun knew what he was talking about but that was one of the few times he couldn't appreciate the grandeur in the ferocity that confronted him.

Commodore Ballroom. 9 of the 11 songs played are presented here as a video recording. But the first two songs have a slide show and no video as those two songs I recorded with an audio recorder only. The rest I recorded as video. Also, Guiding Light has a 1 minute+ gap in the middle of the song's video from when my camera stopped shooting, briefly. But there's no gap in the audio. Commodore Ballroom. 9 of the 11 songs played are presented here as a video recording. But the first two songs have a slide show and no video as those two songs I recorded with an audio recorder only. The rest I recorded as video. Also, Guiding Light has a 1 minute+ gap in the middle of the song's video from when my camera stopped shooting, briefly. But there's no gap in the audio. Into that video gap I placed more photos.

I attended this show & recorded it with a Zoom H1 audio recorder,
& a Canon camera, using the two simultaneously.The camera's less than ideal for recording videos, however, as it doesn't shoot in HD, & its audio is mono & unexceptional. However, the audio soundtrack here is stereo & good quality as you're hearing the Zoom audio synched to the images.

The first four on-stage pics in the slideshow are from this Vancouver show. They're screen capture's from my video. Also in the slideshow are some 1970s band photos, including a couple of rare ones not easily findable online. They come from new high-res scans I made from original magazine article hard copies I have.
This is a belatedly completed youtube project as it's taken me nearly a year to get around to preparing & upping the video, although I did share the audio file of the show in June, 2015 via popular live recordings torrent sharing site dimeadozen.org.
Better late than never, as they say.

Television: Richard Lloyd Part 1
Richard Lloyd made his name as the guitarist for the underground rock band 'Television'. Having joined the band (Richard Hell - Bass, Vocals, Tom Verlaine - Guitar, Vocals, Billy Ficca - Drums) in 1973, he and Television manager Terry Ork discovered CBGB the following year - the club out of which American Punk music developed. Signed to Elektra in 1977, the band recorded two seminal albums - 'Marquee Moon' and 'Adventure', and despite the stature of these works now, at the time they failed to break Television into the big time, and they disbanded in 1978. In this interview Lloyd discusses the New York underground scene in the 1970s, Andy Warhol, CBGB and the host of acts who emerged there (including The Ramones), his time in Television and the UK Punk scene they inspired.

Lagu “Gugur Bunga” tentunya bukan lagu yang asing lagi di telinga kita. Lagu wajib nasional ini setiap tahunnya dikumandangkan untuk mengenang para pahlawan Revolusi yang gugur karena pemberontakan G 30 S PKI pada tahun 1965. Lagu ini adalah sebuah lagu perjuangan Bangsa Indonesia yang ditulis oleh Ismail Marzuki pada tahun 1945 untuk untuk menghormati para pahlawan yang telah gugur dalam membela bangsa dan negara Indonesia.
Bila diamati dari liriknya, lagu ini memang menyiratkan kesedihan. Namun lagu ini memiliki energi tersendiri, sarat dengan nilai perjuangan dan pengorbanan serta keyakinan kepada generasi bangsa untuk semangat cinta tanah air.
Demikian pula dengan yang dirasakan oleh SETIA Band. Band yang digawangi oleh Charly Van Hauten dan Pepeng ini, mengaransemen kembali lagu ini dengan gaya khas Setia Band. Charly, sang vokalis, mengatakan bahwa awal mulanya keinginan mengaransemen ulang lagu ini karena dirinya didatangi oleh seorang bapak yang memimpikan sosok Ahmad Yani. "Lagu ini berawal dari mimpi seorang bapak yang sudah lama mencari aku dan ketika ketemu bapak tersebut menyampaikan dirinya mempunyai amanah, yang dimimpinya didatangi Jendral Ahmad Yani dan beliau menyuruh untuk mencari Charly untuk aku menyanyikan kembali lagu Gugur Bunga dan lagu pahlawan lainnya”, jelas Charly.
Tidak banyak kesulitan bagi Setia Band selama proses rekaman dan aransemen ulang lagu ini. "Kesulitannya karena ada alunan yang mendayu terus harus dibuat agak lebih ngeband tapi tidak menghilangkan pesan lagunya," ungkap Charly.
Entah benar atau tidak mimpi tersebut, keinginan Setia Band untuk mengangkat kembali lagu Gugur bunga ini patut diapresiasi. Tak banyak musisi atau band yang tertarik untuk membawakan lagi lagu-lagu yang bertema perjuangan. “Kita memang ingin mempopulerkan kembali lagu ini karena pesan moralnya bagus. Harapannya yang pasti sesuatu yang terbaik, manfaat yang baik dan spirit yang baik untuk masyarakat Indonesia. Terlepas mimpi itu benar atau tidak, saya pikir ini sesuatu yang positif untuk diangkat. Dimana kita harus memiliki spirit kepahlawanan yang tulus untuk negara ini”, ujar Charly.
