Constantí

Constantí is a town in the province of Tarragona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain.

History

Archaeological remains can determine that it was inhabited during the time of the Romans.

The medieval village was established in 1153, after the conquest of Siurana. Was granted a town charter in 1159. Archbishop Espàrec de la Barca (1215) boosted its population, ordering build the castle, the first church and the city wall. The castle became the summer residence of the Archbishops of Tarragona.

Had suffered several attacks during the Catalan Revolt. On January 12, 1641 the town was attacked by the troops of Josep Margarit. In 1642 was attacked by Marshal La Mothe that turned the people as a base of operations. In 1649, after a siege of two days, the city fell to the troops of Juan de Garay. The church and castle were destroyed.

During the Independence War, General Louis-Gabriel Suchet had managed from Constantí the siege of Tarragona in 1811.

Constant (computer programming)

In computer programming, a constant is an identifier with an associated value which cannot be altered by the program during normal execution – the value is constant. This is contrasted with a variable, which is an identifier with a value that can be changed during normal execution – the value is variable. Constants are useful for both programmers and compilers: for programmers they are a form of self-documenting code and allow reasoning about correctness; while for compilers they allow compile-time and run-time checks that constancy assumptions are not violated, and allow or simplify some compiler optimizations.

There are various specific realizations of the general notion of a constant, with subtle distinctions that are often overlooked. The most significant are: compile-time (statically-valued) constants, run-time (dynamically-valued) constants, immutable objects, and constant types (const).

Typical examples of compile-time constants include mathematical constants, values from standards (here maximum transmission unit), or internal configuration values (here characters per line), such as these C examples:

Monochrome

Monochrome describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or values of one color. A monochromatic object or image reflects colors in shades of limited colors or hues. Images using only shades of grey (with or without black and/or white) are called grayscale or black-and-white. However, scientifically speaking, monochromatic light refers to visible light of a narrow band of wavelengths (see spectral color).

Application

For an image, the term monochrome is usually taken to mean the same as black and white or, more likely, grayscale, but may also be used to refer to other combinations containing only tones of a single color, such as green-and-white or green-and-black. It may also refer to sepia displaying tones from light tan to dark brown or cyanotype (“blueprint”) images, and early photographic methods such as daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes, each of which may be used to produce a monochromatic image.

In computing, monochrome has two meanings:

A (Ayumi Hamasaki album)

"A" is an EP recorded by Japanese recording artist Ayumi Hamasaki for her second studio album, Loveppears (1999). The songs on the EP consists off "Monochrome", "Too Late", "Trauma" and "End roll". The songs were written all by Hamasaki herself, composed by Dai Nagao and production was handled by Max Matsuura. The songs featured the same instrumentation and composition like the parent album Loveppears, utilizing an influence in dance music and electronic music. Lyrically, the songs still deal with loneliness and sadness, a prominent theme for both the parent album and the previous record Hamasaki released.

A received favorable reception from most music critics, who cited it as an album and career standout. The song was an success in Japan, peaking at number one on the Oricon Singles Chart. It became her best selling single to date and 57th best Japanese single, with over 1.6 million units shipped there. No music videos were issued for the single, becoming her first EP to not feature any singles.

Eleventh Avenue (album)

Eleventh Avenue is Ammonia's second studio album. It was released in Australia in May, 1998.

It was a very different album to their previous effort, Mint 400, moving away from grunge-inspired guitar rock to include harmonies, samples and psychedelic keyboards.

The album was recorded and produced by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev), a choice made by the band in part due to the lack of control the band had over the first album. Two songs ("You're Not the Only One..." and "Monochrome") received extensive airplay on Triple J; however, the album failed to chart as well as its predecessor, only reaching #20 on the National Album charts.Eleventh Avenue turned out to be the band's last album. It went out of print in March 2002.
