An international outcry erupted this week after video surfaced showing the
brutal decapitation of three prisoners incarcerated in a penitentiary located in
Brazil's Maranhao state.
The video, said to have been filmed last December 17 and then posted on Brazilian
daily Folha de Sao Paulo's website this Tuesday (January 7), exhibited horrific
scenes of violence which took place during a riot.
In the gruesome video that was reportedly recorded on a cell phone, inmates torture,
murder and then behead their three fellow prisoners.
A prison workers union obtained the images and then handed them over to Folha
de Sao Paulo.

Joel Metz, 28, a worker for Fortune Wireless, was decapitated on Wednesday after a heavy boom fell and a cable struck him.
After the gruesome accident, the worker's body hung in a safety harness for five hours before crews were able to bring Metz down.
Metz was part of a four-person crew from Indianapolis that was working on the tower. At the time of the accident, Metz was on the tower 240 feet high with one other worker. There were two men on the ground.
It was initially believed that a snapped cable had decapitated Metz. But investigators found the cable to be intact.

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — A Kansas City water park has reopened mere days after a 10-year-old boy was decapitated while riding the world’s tallest water slide.
A number of bystanders witnessed the bloody incident, and say the horrific scene was one they will never forget.
WPVI reports that Caleb Schwab, the son of Kansas lawmaker Scott Schwab, went on the Verruckt slide at the Schlitterbahn water park on Sunday afternoon. He was in the front seat of a three-passenger raft with two other women, with only a velcro strap securing him during the slide’s 168-foot vertical drop.
The strap reportedly came off during the ride, ejecting the boy from the raft. He likely bounced around the netting and the slide, and was gruesomely decapitated as a result.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident told CNN that the raft he’d been riding in slid to the bottom of the ride first, followed by a river of blood and Schwab’s lifeless body.
The two other passengers on Schwab’s raft received minor facial injuries.
The Verruckt by Schlitterbahn as the “world’s tallest waterslide,” reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. This is not the ride’s first reported problem. Rafts reportedly flew off the slide during early test runs.
Surprisingly, the ride passed a safety inspection from an insurance company just two months ago, according to KCCI. This, despite numerous complaints from riders that the straps were flimsy and often came loose.
The Verruckt ride has been closed for the rest of the season, but the Schlitterbahn water park remains open despite apparently being grossly negligent of its guests’ safety.

Decapitation
Decapitation (from Latin, caput, capitis, meaning head) is the complete separation of the head from the body. In humans, decapitation always results in death, since severing the head deprives all other organs of the involuntary functions that are essential for the body to function while the brain itself is deprived of oxygenated blood.
The term beheading refers to the act of deliberately decapitating a person, either as a means of murder or execution; it may be accomplished, for example, with an axe, sword, knife, or by other more sophisticated means such as a guillotine. An executioner who carries out executions by beheading is called a headsman. Accidental decapitation can be the result of an explosion, car or industrial accident, improperly administered execution by hanging or other violent injury. Suicide by decapitation is rare, but not unknown. The national laws of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Qatar permit beheading, but in practice, Saudi Arabia is the only country that continues to behead its offenders regularly as a punishment for crime.

Bystanders who witnessed the incident told CNN that the raft he’d been riding in slid to the bottom of the ride first, followed by a river of blood and Schwab’s lifeless body. The two other passengers on Schwab’s raft received minor facial injuries. The Verruckt by Schlitterbahn as the “world’s tallest waterslide,” reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. This is not the ride’s first reported problem. Rafts reportedly flew off the slide during early test runs. Surprisingly, the ride passed a safety inspection from an insurance company just two months ago, according to KCCI. This, despite numerous complaints from riders that the straps were flimsy and often came loose. Joel Metz, 28, a worker for Fortune Wireless, was decapitated on Wednesday after a heavy boom fell and a cable struck him.
After the gruesome accident, the worker's body hung in a safety harness for five hours before crews were able to bring Metz down.
Metz was part of a four-person crew from Indianapolis that was working on the tower. At the time of the accident, Metz was on the tower 240 feet high with one other worker. There were two men on the ground.
It was initially believed that a snapped cable had decapitated Metz. But investigators found the cable to be intact.

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — A Kansas City water park has reopened mere days after a 10-year-old boy was decapitated while riding the world’s tallest water slide.
A number of bystanders witnessed the bloody incident, and say the horrific scene was one they will never forget.
WPVI reports that Caleb Schwab, the son of Kansas lawmaker Scott Schwab, went on the Verruckt slide at the Schlitterbahn water park on Sunday afternoon. He was in the front seat of a three-passenger raft with two other women, with only a velcro strap securing him during the slide’s 168-foot vertical drop.
The strap reportedly came off during the ride, ejecting the boy from the raft. He likely bounced around the netting and the slide, and was gruesomely decapitated as a result.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident told CNN that the raft he’d been riding in slid to the bottom of the ride first, followed by a river of blood and Schwab’s lifeless body.
The two other passengers on Schwab’s raft received minor facial injuries.
The Verruckt by Schlitterbahn as the “world’s tallest waterslide,” reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. This is not the ride’s first reported problem. Rafts reportedly flew off the slide during early test runs.
Surprisingly, the ride passed a safety inspection from an insurance company just two months ago, according to KCCI. This, despite numerous complaints from riders that the straps were flimsy and often came loose.
The Verruckt ride has been closed for the rest of the season, but the Schlitterbahn water park remains open despite apparently being grossly negligent of its guests’ safety.
