GMA Pinoy TV, is a Filipino Channel incorporated in February 2004 by GMA Network and its subsidiaries, GMA International & GMA Worldwide; it was launched in 2005, primarily in Japan and USA, as a 24-hour international Filipino television station. The channel is targeted towards overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines. The network airs shows produced by GMA Network. Drawing on programming from its flagship station in the Philippines, the network's programs can be seen in the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska), Japan, Guam, Saipan, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, the Middle East, North Africa, Hong Kong, and Europe.
GMA Pinoy TV was first launched in Japan in March 2005. It was later launched in several parts of the United States in the same year, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles and the states of the East Coast.
The official GMA Pinoy TV launch in America happened in San Francisco on 23 July 2005 and was aired on SOP the following Sunday, 31 July 2005. The event was attended by thousands of Filipinos eager to see once again the stars of GMA for whom they have not seen for so long. The channel later spread out in the entire country of the US by August 2005. Since then GMA Pinoy TV started to reach out to more countries globally.
GMA Life TV, is a Filipino Channel incorporated in February 2008 by GMA Network, is an international Filipino television channel, and the company's secondary international channel to GMA Pinoy TV.
This secondary channel carries programming from GMA News TV in the Philippines and some GMA Network proper's programming.
It was launched 16 February 2008 in Japan and is available in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southern Europe through Orbit Showtime.
In June 2008 it was launched in Australia and New Zealand on UBI World TV. It is now also available in the whole United States via Dish Network and DirecTV.
On 2 November 2009, it was launched in Hawaii via Oceanic Time Warner Cable on 'a la carte' basis or packaged with another Tagalog station (GMA Pinoy TV or other channels) for Digital Cable subscribers and GMA Life TV also available via Time Warner Cable in the United States.
In September 2010, GMA Life TV has 122,000 subscribers while its sister channel, GMA Pinoy TV has a total of 256,000 subscribers. This is based on a report that the Corporate Communications Department of GMA Network has posted.
A season is a division of the year, marked by changes in weather, ecology and hours of daylight. Seasons result from the yearly orbit of the Earth around the Sun and the tilt of the Earth's rotational axis relative to the plane of the orbit. In temperate and polar regions, the seasons are marked by changes in the intensity of sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface, variations of which may cause animals to go into hibernation or to migrate, and plants to be dormant.
During May, June, and July, the northern hemisphere is exposed to more direct sunlight because the hemisphere faces the sun. The same is true of the southern hemisphere in November, December, and January. It is the tilt of the Earth that causes the Sun to be higher in the sky during the summer months which increases the solar flux. However, due to seasonal lag, June, July, and August are the hottest months in the northern hemisphere and December, January, and February are the hottest months in the southern hemisphere.
DVD region codes are a digital rights management technique designed to allow film distributors to control aspects of a release, including content, release date, and price, according to the region.
This is achieved by way of region-locked DVD players, which will play back only DVDs encoded to their region (plus those without any region code). The American DVD Copy Control Association also requires that DVD player manufacturers incorporate the regional-playback control (RPC) system. However, region-free DVD players, which ignore region coding, are also commercially available, and many DVD players can be modified to be region-free, allowing playback of all discs.
DVDs may use one code, a combination of codes (multi-region), every code (all region) or no codes (region free).
DVDs in Hispanophone Latin America and Mexico use both the region 1 and region 4 codes.
DVDs sold in the Baltic states use both region 2 and 5 codes.
Region 0 (playable in all regions except 7 and 8) is widely used by China and the Philippines.
