Marriage in Islam

In Islam, marriage is a legal contract (Literary Arabic: عقد القران ʻaqd al-qirān, "matrimony contract"; Urdu: نکاح نامہ‎ / ALA-LC: Nikāḥ-nāmah) between two people. Both the groom and the bride are to consent to the marriage of their own free wills. A formal, binding contract is considered integral to a religiously valid Islamic marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom and bride. There must be two Muslim witnesses of the marriage contract. Divorce (also called Tallaq in Arabic) is permitted and can primarily be issued by the groom. However, the bride also has the right to initiate the demand for the divorce. The actual rules of marriage and divorce (often part of Personal Status Laws) can differ from country to country, based on codified law and the school of jurisprudence that is largely followed in that country.

In addition to the usual marriage until death or divorce, there is a different fixed-term marriage known as zawāj al-mutʻah ("temporary marriage") permitted only by the Twelver branch of Shia Islam for a pre-fixed period. There is also Nikah Misyar, a non-temporary marriage with the removal of some conditions permitted by some Sunni Muslims, which usually amount to the wife waiving her right to sustenance from her husband.

Salma Agha

Salma Agha is a British singer and actress of Indo-Pak origin who sang as well as acted in Indian films in the 1980s and the early 1990s. Her first film was the romance Nikaah for which she won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award for the ghazal "Dil Ke Armaan Aansuon Mein Beh Gaye".

Early life and career

Agha was born to Nasreen (born as Zarina Ghaznavi) and Liaqat Gul Aga. Her father was a successful businessman dealing in rugs. Her maternal grandparents are actor Jugal Kishore Mehra and actress Anwari Begum who starred in the first ever made Heer Ranjha (1932). Her maternal grandfather was Rafiq Ghaznavi. Nasreen was later adopted by Jugul Kishore Mehra, who converted to Islam and took on the name Ahmed Salman. Jugul Kishore Mehra was the cousin of Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.

Personal life

Salma Agha was married to Pakistani squash player Rahmat Khan in 1999. They have two children together-Sasha Agha and Liaqat Ali Khan. In 2010, they got divorced. Agha got married to Manzar Shah in 2011.

Ajda Pekkan

Ayşe Ajda Pekkan (Turkish pronunciation: [aʒˌda pe̞kˈkan]; 12 February 1946,Istanbul, Turkey), also known as Süperstar, is a Turkish pop singer and actress. Through a career spanning five decades thus far, Pekkan has released more than 20 albums and, with Sezen Aksu, is the most commercially successful female Turkish music artist with the sales of over 42 million copies worldwide. She is nicknamed the "Superstar" of Turkish pop music. Although famed for her music, Pekkan started her career as an actress with appearances in almost 50 films. During her music career, Pekkan has recorded songs in nine languages. Apart from Turkish, she is also fluent in English and French. She was awarded the honorary distinction of Chevaliers of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2013.

Early life and family

Pekkan was born to Rıdvan Pekkan, an officer in the Turkish Navy, and Nevin Dobruca, a housewife. She spent her childhood at the Naval Base Gölcük in Kocaeli Province. Ajda graduated from the Çamlıca Kız Lisesi, an elite and high-profile girls' secondary school in Istanbul that had been founded during the Ottoman era. Its alumni include foreign nobility and female members of the Imperial House of Osman and the languages of education are Turkish, French and German.
