Fantastic file manger, held back by dated visuals... While l love this app's functionality, it needs a major visual redesign. It feels and looks dated in the age of Android M. Please give this app the Material focused visual refresh it desperately needs. While I love the ability to access Dropbox/Google Drive from one place, like those apps it needs the ability to password/fingerprint lock the app... As is anyone can access the data held in those services from this app without the need for their perspective passwords...

waiting for response from developer after losing hundreds of business related photos and video, i realized I never needed this app. I'm currently waiting to hear from developer to see if this lost media is recoverable. They seem slow to answer. I realize I may not be able to recover my media, but would like to verify that before I uninstall. To be fair, this was probably user error, but I didn't realize I could access files through Android native menus. I'm pretty bummed.

Menu? Where is the menu button? I was directed to download this app so I can make unsupported files into supported files. I've been trying for the past 5 hours to make it work. If it is possible to do the action I require then I'll definitely upgrade to the Pro, but right now I tried every modification on this app and nothing transports unsupported files to supported files. Please reply back.

Very Glitchy & Often Inaccessible I love the design and pretty much everything about it, like the options, settings, etc. except for the lack of functionality. I tap on a folder, and instead of the folder opening, the screen automatically scrolls to the bottom of the page I'm already on. It is very tricky trying to get a file folder to actually open. If they could fix that glitch, it would be the perfect file manager.

UI is crap Searching pics, then found searches selecting one at row to the right let's the search scroll down pages... Totally unable now, impossible to select the right column items.

click to sort by size no work. Opens old versions of excel files also, size is displayed without abbreviation i.e. kb/mb/gb etc. so your brain has to work like a computer to get an glance at storage use. lame. Tired of redoing sorting prefs OVER and OVER again.
Too confusing All I'm looking for is an app that can simply move my photos and videos to my SD card, and move them back to my phone at will, this app doesn't seem to cover that
Very useful app! Not sure what full screen ads people are talking about, but I have been using this app for I think 2 years now and love it! Only add I see is the tiny one at the bottom of the screen.
Cannot write files on sdcard (Android 5.1.1) When attempting to copy a file, Astro File Manager issues the following message after the Paste button is pressed: "Error could not write file". Note: File Commander is able to do this task.

We need to look into this. Could you send us a screen shot of the issue to support@metago.net. Not as great. Still a good app however something seems a little off. I still strongly recommend it to anyone who's does not have a file manager on their device! Offers plenty of features.

Thank you. Need write option to ext-sdcard Doesnt have the option to move files from device to ext-sdcard. The default my file app that comes on my tablet can do that. Astro wants you to root your tablet for that feature but that's too complicated. ES Explorer appears to have that feature, it's not as user friendly but ppl that have samsung devices it comes in handy as many samsung devices don't have write access to the ext-sdcard
I've been using Astro for over 4 years. I like its feature to access cloud storage directly, such as Dropbox and Google Drive. Now, Astro gives me an error if I try to set up access to Dropbox. I'd assume it's a compatibility issue with Android 7, which I now use. Hence the 2/5 rating.
Adware The app has apparently turned into adware. I have used the app for years and recommended it to many people, but can no longer do so. I have started getting constant pop-ups and web page redirects, so started systematically removing apps to test out. Removed this one and they've finally stopped. Will no longer use this app nor recommend it to anyone.
Astro file manager New version: have had to change to this version as older app does not support writing to SD card with newer versions of Android OS. Backup function is OK but takes a LOT longer to list current backups or relist when ANY changes are made, which is quite tedious. Also why is the renaming function limited to a maximum of five highlighted files at a time??
Been using for years.... Worked great UNTIL Android 6.0 stopped being able to install apk files from Astro. Everything else seems to work, but I get 'no applications found for this file type' every time I try to install. Yes Unknown Sources is checked. Developer needs to define an app link for Android 6.0.
Malware As soon as I installed and opened the app, my phone started acting up. Anytime I clicked on anything within the app, ads self opened and I got redirected multiple places. This used to be a great app, now it's useless malware.
It doesn't recognize apk files anymore Whenever i try to side load an app from sd card, it shows no application for this file type. What do you mean? The stock Android 6.0.1 doesn’t have a package installer! That works well with the other file managers, i tried 3 other file managers, all of them installed the apks. I have been using astro for a year. Lost faith

Select the Settings page and click on Startup Preference. You can change it to your SD card. Used to be a great app I used to be able to reach anywhere in my phone, but with the latest android upgrade, Im not able to copy from or paste to the root. Not any different than LG Vanilla File Explorer now. It works well and solid programming, just...whats the point now?
Crashes device on SMB connection Consistently can hard lock device requiring a full reboot when attempting to connect to an SMB server. Makes the app useless.
Copy-paste needs serious improvement I raised this issue last November but it is still not implemented. Overwrite, overwrite-all and skip-all is still missing from the cut/copy/paste operation. Do you expect me to pick an action one by one for each individual files when there are hundreds of duplicates? This has been the single thing that is holding me back from paying. In other areas this app beats every other file managers on Android but for copy-paste it's still the worst.
Good App Been using it for years on several phones without any problems. Just bought OTG USB flash drive, Astro doesn't see/Support OTG USB devices. Bummer.
Stuck in a loop about app overlays When granting permissions, a notification about needing to disable overlays (why?!). Still doesn't fix the issue, cannot grant file access so it's useless.
Really gets the job done. Best free file manager. This app brings up every file on your device and alows you to see what's what. I deleted a few junk files with this app, and in seconds the available memory increased! Other file managing apps wouldn't do anything close to this unless you paid for it. One thing, there's too many pop ups. Not ads mind you just things asking you to do like login using social media profiles, etc.,
It deleted itself and all my photos I have recently used Astro to search through photos, but was not using it at the moment. I got the notice "unfortunately Astro has stopped". when I looked at my home screen, and then apps screen Not only was Astro gone, but also, almost all the photos in "my gallery" were gone!!!!! Is this a common problem? How do I fix?
Fantastic manager. Yr search ends here Been struggling trying to get File commander to do basic file management for months. This does it all and soooo simple to use. Ignore negatives about the interface . Love it !!!
Allows to acces sd card in lollipop&k itkat Realy its a very useful app..if u r facing sd card read/write issues in ur mobile..it is a very gud one to fix that issue...it allows us to acces sd card in lollipop&kitkat.......& This is the best ever file manager I have ever used
I still have a problem in transferring my files from the device to the memory card... How do I get to see it done?
Brilliant I have no idea what the problem was but this app is the only one out of es file explorer, network browser/Helios and fx that could connect to my password protected file shares. Function over form, 5 stars thankyou.
Could be better I like it cos multiple transfers at once but useless if I can't send to sd card
Poor file manager SMB was perfect for me - extremely satisfying! ...until they changed the UI. Poor UI design. Incomplete file transfers produce no error. No way to resume a file transfer.
Way too complicated I'm not a tech person. I just need to move photos to my sd card. This app is NOT for casual or even moderately sophisticated users. It's for tech heads only.
Is it just me? I download stuff and my tab says it downloaded successfully but i cant find it anywhere ive tried using the search button still i cant find the document... and if i go to the downloaded file it opens but i just cant find the document in the file manager... whats wrong with this... :((
My gripe I wish this app was a little less 'the way we originally wrote it to look,' and a little more material design. Sorry guys.
Runs slow It's like using dialup, even though the app has nothing to do with the internet once it's installed. That's how slow it runs. I'm uninstalling.
What happened to the gallery? When viewing an image, you used to be able to swipe left or right to get to other images but now the thumbnail strip at the bottom is gone and you can't swipe to the next image.
Went in with an open mind, came out with a disgruntled scowl... After using FX for years, seeing ads in my file manager is practically unacceptable. And no, I won't pay for ad-free browsing. That's like selling coffee and charging extra for the cup.
Dumb It's got a move option but no copy option? If only they had half a brain even!
Indispensible for so many reasons. Backups, picture viewer(so I can look at a category of pictures since gallery stinks), and much more.
Can't install apk's from app. I thought it was a Marshmallow issue but come to find out it is a Astro issue. Had for several years. I loved the cloud managment, but everything is out of date and needs work.
