2016 Myer Classic winner: I Am A Star
The 2016 Myer Classic - a 1600m Group One weight-for-age race for Fillies and Mares aged 3YO & upwards - was held at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 29 October. The race was was won by the Shane Nichols-trained I Am A Star, with French Emotion and Denmagic filling the minor placings.
The Myer Classic is the Spring Carnival's premier mile race for Fillies and Mares. It generally attracts the best females in the country and nearly always boasts a field of great depth. It is one of four Group One's on the bumper Derby Day card, and last year featured as the penultimate race of the day, right after the running of the feature race, the Victoria Derby.
