I wanted to visit Lucerne since the first time I saw the wooden bridges in a tv show.. to me they seemed fo fascinating.
And they didn't disappoint:) I had very few disappointments an this trip really.. everything looked as nice as on pictures.. even better live:)
My sister went home so I explored this beautiful city on my own and it was easily done in a day. You could of course spend longer and go more in debt, but I did't have the time, as I made Lucerne a stop on one of my train travel days.
In the 5 hours I spent here I saw the famous wooden bridges and of course the chapel bridge. The old town and old town wall and towers. And had a personal little memorial for my grandmother at the Lion Memorial( löwendenkmal )

http://tourvideos.com/ Lucerne is deservedly the most popular destination in Switzerland, famous for its well-preserved Old Town, consisting of many blocks of medieval buildings richly decorated with painted murals showing village life in olden days, making this like an outdoor art gallery. All of this is set on a beautiful waterfront, along the shores of Lake Lucerne and the River Reuss. The historic center of Lucerne is an extensive pedestrian zone, filled with interesting shops, restaurants, and ancient buildings. The steep gabled roofs, covered with strong wooden shingles to ward off the winter snow, complete the picturesque scenario. Automobiles are not allowed into this large historic zone, so you can wander the cobbled lanes without fear of getting run over. The shopping is fun, with many items that are pure Swiss in character, like music boxes, chocolates, watches, cuckoo clocks, cowbells, beer steins, hand-carved wooden statues, costumed dolls, cheese, knives, embroidery, linens, music, and you can also find very good deals on clothing.

According to Tripadvisor Lucerne was voted the fifth most popular tourism destination in the world in 2010. Not bad for a city of only 75,000 people. My video is mainly of Old Town, which includes the Chapel Bridge, Reuss River, Rathausquai, Mill Bridge and Lake Lucerne. At the end of the video I journey over to the Lion Monument.

I wanted to visit Lucerne since the first time I saw the wooden bridges in a tv show.. to me they seemed fo fascinating.
And they didn't disappoint:) I had very few disappointments an this trip really.. everything looked as nice as on pictures.. even better live:)
My sister went home so I explored this beautiful city on my own and it was easily done in a day. You could of course spend longer and go more in debt, but I did't have the time, as I made Lucerne a stop on one of my train travel days.
In the 5 hours I spent here I saw the famous wooden bridges and of course the chapel bridge. The old town and old town wall and towers. And had a personal little memorial for my grandmother at the Lion Memorial( löwendenkmal )

Chapel Bridge, Lucerne - Switzerland Travel Guide
Said to be the longest covered bridge, Chapel Bridge also depicts Lucerne's history. Behind me is Lucerne's Kapellbrucke or Chapel Bridge. Probably one of the most photographed attractions of Switzerland. Said to be the longest covered bridge in the world, it was originally built in the 14th century to act as part of the protective wall around the city. Sadly, a large part of it was burnt in a fire in the early 90's, but most of it has since been inextricably restored. What is really interesting about the bridge is that its wooden ceiling has various triangular shaped paintings. Many of the paintings were destroyed in the fire as well.
