Pentagon said U-S-S Mason detected two inbound missiles within 60 minutes in the Red Sea, off the coast of Yemen. It also added the missiles landed in the sea before reaching the ship and there were no casualties. The destroyer along with two other warships had arrived in the region immediately after a missile attack left a United Arab Emirates’ warship destroyed five days ago. Yemen's army, which is backed by Ansarullah fighters, claimed responsibility for that attack. The Emirati warship was formerly operated by the U-S Navy off the coast of Yemen. Meanwhile, the Yemeni army backed by Houthi fighters have targeted an airbase with a ballistic missile in Ta’if . The attack was the deepest strike yet into the kingdom by Yemeni forces and caused a huge explosion inside the base. Taif is home to King Fahad Air Base, which hosts US military personnel.

A 1500 lb. Standard Missile 2 (SM-2) leaps from the guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) at twice the speed of sound on its way to destroying an advanced high-speed target during a live fire test of the ship's Aegis weapons system. The live fire event was conducted during the EISENHOWER Strike Group Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), the final certification event prior to deployment. As the world's premier fleet-area air defense weapon, SM-2 is an integral part of the layered defense that protects the world's naval assets and gives warfighters a greater reach in the battlespace. SM-2 variants have successfully intercepted targets and are lethal against subsonic, supersonic, low- and high-altitude, high-maneuvering, diving, sea-skimming, anti-ship cruise missiles fighters, bombers and helicopters in an advanced electronic countermeasures environment. The Pentagon said that it is considering a military retaliation against Houthi militants in Yemen after two missiles were fired Sunday at the destroyer USS Mason from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen. Both missiles fell short of the destroyer and landed in the sea. Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said today that the U.S. is still assessing who fired missiles at the destroyer when it was in the Red Sea on Sunday. “Anytime anyone engages a U.S. Navy ship at sea in hostility ... they do so at great peril to themselves,” said Davis.
Asked if that could mean retaliatory strikes against those responsible for firing the missiles, Davis said, “Those things are things that we’re looking at.” “We want very much to get to the bottom of what happened,” said Davis. “We're going to find out who did this, and we'll take action accordingly.”
Davis would not confirm that targets for possible retaliatory strikes are being developed. He did not directly say who was responsible for the missile firings but noted that was something "we’re looking at very hard right now.”
"We will get to the bottom of this and we will make sure that anybody who interferes with freedom of navigation or anybody who puts U.S. navy ships at risk does so at their own peril,” said Davis.
The type of missiles fired at the Mason is still being assessed but Davis characterized the missiles as “a shore-launched cruise missile.” Over a one-hour period, two missiles were fired at the Mason from the Yemeni shoreline in Houthi-controlled territory. Both landed short of the Mason, which was close to the USS Ponce in the Red Sea.
For operational security, Davis would not say how far the incoming missiles traveled towards the Mason in the Red Sea. “The initial thoughts were that this was aimed at them and they are looking at it,” he said. He added that it is unclear if countermeasures deployed by the destroyer's crew led the first missile to fall into the sea. However, the second missile fell into the sea before countermeasures were launched.
The Houthis are an Iranian-backed militant group that seized control of the government in January 2015. Since March, they have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition that intervened militarily in Yemen to restore power to the previous government.
Davis said it was unclear if the missiles fired at the U.S. destroyer were part of the weapons the Houthi had seized from the previous government or new weapons supplied by Iran. "It's no secret that Iran has been actively supplying them and giving them the tools of war," said Davis.

Yemen, Iranian backed, Houthi rebels have launched a second missile attack on the U.S Navy destroyer, USS Mason. The failed missile attack was launched from territory in Yemen controlled by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, the second such incident in four days, the U.S. military said. The USS Mason fired defensive weapons in response to at least one missile which did not hit the ship or caused any damage as it operated north of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Pentagon said. Indications are that the second salvo brought down an incoming missile, a U.S. official said.
The renewed attempt to target the U.S. Navy destroyer will add pressure on the U.S. military to retaliate, a move that would represent the first direct U.S. military action against Houthi rebels in Yemen's conflict. The Pentagon said it would respond "at the appropriate time and in the appropriate manner."
The United States, a longtime ally of Saudi Arabia, has provided aerial refueling of jets from a Saudi-led coalition striking Yemen and it supplies U.S. weapons sales to the kingdom.
Michael Knights, an expert on Yemen's conflict at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said the missile attacks appeared to be the Houthis' response to an attack last weekend, widely blamed on Saudi-led forces in Yemen's Houthi-held capital Sanaa.The White House says it is reviewing its support for Saudi-led forces in Yemen in the wake of Saturday's strike, which killed at least 140 people by one count.
Knights said the targeting of U.S. warship suggested the Houthis, fighters from a Shi'ite sect that ruled a 1,000-year kingdom in northern Yemen until 1962, could becoming more militarily aligned with groups like Lebanon's Shi'ite militant group Hezbollah. "Targeting U.S. warships is a sign that the Houthis have decided to join the axis of resistance that currently includes Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran," Knight said.
The USS Mason was also the target of a failed missile attack off Yemen on Sunday, and the Navy praised the resolve of sailors aboard the ship.
"The team in USS Mason demonstrated initiative and toughness as they defended themselves and others against these unfounded attacks over the weekend and again today," the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson said. "All Americans should be proud of them," he said.
The missile incidents, along with an Oct. 1 strike on a vessel from the United Arab Emirates, add to questions about safety of passage for military ships around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world's busiest shipping routes.

Pentagon said U-S-S Mason detected two inbound missiles within 60 minutes in the Red Sea, off the coast of Yemen. It also added the missiles landed in the sea before reaching the ship and there were no casualties. The destroyer along with two other warships had arrived in the region immediately after a missile attack left a United Arab Emirates’ warship destroyed five days ago. Yemen's army, which is backed by Ansarullah fighters, claimed responsibility for that attack. The Emirati warship was formerly operated by the U-S Navy off the coast of Yemen. Meanwhile, the Yemeni army backed by Houthi fighters have targeted an airbase with a ballistic missile in Ta’if . The attack was the deepest strike yet into the kingdom by Yemeni forces and caused a huge explosion inside the base. Taif is home to King Fahad Air Base, which hosts US military personnel.

The Pentagon said that it is considering a military retaliation against Houthi militants in Yemen after two missiles were fired Sunday at the destroyer USS Mason from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen. Both missiles fell short of the destroyer and landed in the sea. Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said today that the U.S. is still assessing who fired missiles at the destroyer when it was in the Red Sea on Sunday. “Anytime anyone engages a U.S. Navy ship at sea in hostility ... they do so at great peril to themselves,” said Davis.
Asked if that could mean retaliatory strikes against those responsible for firing the missiles, Davis said, “Those things are things that we’re looking at.” “We want very much to get to the bottom of what happened,” said Davis. “We're going to find out who did this, and we'll take action accordingly.”
Davis would not confirm that targets for possible retaliatory strikes are being developed. He did not directly say who was responsible for the missile firings but noted that was something "we’re looking at very hard right now.”
"We will get to the bottom of this and we will make sure that anybody who interferes with freedom of navigation or anybody who puts U.S. navy ships at risk does so at their own peril,” said Davis.
The type of missiles fired at the Mason is still being assessed but Davis characterized the missiles as “a shore-launched cruise missile.” Over a one-hour period, two missiles were fired at the Mason from the Yemeni shoreline in Houthi-controlled territory. Both landed short of the Mason, which was close to the USS Ponce in the Red Sea.
For operational security, Davis would not say how far the incoming missiles traveled towards the Mason in the Red Sea. “The initial thoughts were that this was aimed at them and they are looking at it,” he said. He added that it is unclear if countermeasures deployed by the destroyer's crew led the first missile to fall into the sea. However, the second missile fell into the sea before countermeasures were launched.
The Houthis are an Iranian-backed militant group that seized control of the government in January 2015. Since March, they have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition that intervened militarily in Yemen to restore power to the previous government.
Davis said it was unclear if the missiles fired at the U.S. destroyer were part of the weapons the Houthi had seized from the previous government or new weapons supplied by Iran. "It's no secret that Iran has been actively supplying them and giving them the tools of war," said Davis.

Knights said the targeting of U.S. warship suggested the Houthis, fighters from a Shi'ite sect that ruled a 1,000-year kingdom in northern Yemen until 1962, could becoming more militarily aligned with groups like Lebanon's Shi'ite militant group Hezbollah. "Targeting U.S. warships is a sign that the Houthis have decided to join the axis of resistance that currently includes Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran," Knight said.
The USS Mason was also the target of a failed missile attack off Yemen on Sunday, and the Navy praised the resolve of sailors aboard the ship.
"The team in USS Mason demonstrated initiative and toughness as they defended themselves and others against these unfounded attacks over the weekend and again today," the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson said. "All Americans should be proud of them," he said.
The missile incidents, along with an Oct. 1 strike on a vessel from the United Arab Emirates, add to questions about safety of passage for military ships around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world's busiest shipping routes.

RED SEA (Oct. 13, 2016) The guided missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94) launches a strike against three coastal radar sites in Houthi-controlled territory on Yemen's Red Sea coast. Due to hostile acts, continuing and imminent threat of force, and multiple threats to vessels in the Bab-al Mandeb Strait, including U.S. naval vessels, Nitze struck the sites, which were used to attack U.S. ships operating in international waters, threatening freedom of navigation. Nitze is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts. The Debate – US Intervention in Yemen
A US destroyer came under missile fire, apparently from Yemen, twice in recent days in the Red Sea. In response, the US Navy fired Tomahawk missiles at 3 coastal radar sites held by Houthis; the 1st direct US attack in the Western armed Saudi-led war. A Houthi military official denied their involvement in the attacks on the USS Mason, calling the claims “baseless,” saying they are an excuse to “escalate aggression”. In response, the US Navy fired Tomahawk missiles at 3 coastal radar sites held by Houthis; the 1st direct US attack in the Western armed Saudi-led war. A Houthi military official denied their involvement in the attacks on the USS Mason, calling the claims “baseless,” saying they are an excuse to “escalate aggression”. The Yemeni army warned the US over more strikes. While Riyadh privately admits to the BBC that its plane did strike the funeral days ago killing countless innocents, the US, instead of sticking by its initial response of pulling back support for the Saudi-led coalition, seems to be digging in its heels, seeking more direct involvement. JSOC later has a lead on Menendez in Yemen, where JSOC asset Farid infiltrates Menendez's cell to help Section facilitate the leader's capture. The player, as Farid has a choice during the mission. Menendez, suspecting Farid's disloyalty, orders him to shoot the captured Harper. If the player chooses not to shoot Harper, and instead attempts to shoot Menendez, he fails, but Harper survives and is rescued. If the player chooses to shoot Harper, Farid survives, and Harper is not present in any conversations or missions thereafter. Menendez is successfully captured, but this was a ruse for Menendez to hack into the U.S. military's computer infrastructure on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Obama, seizing control the the United States' entire drone fleet. Salazar is revealed to be Menendez's mole within JSOC, and facilitates Menendez's attack—Menendez escapes with Salazar's aid, and when Menendez breaks in to the bridge of the Obama, Salazar shoots the soldiers guarding Admiral Briggs (he executes Karma also, if she is in the bridge). The player, playing as Menendez, has the choice of either killing or wounding Admiral Briggs. If the player only wounds Briggs, and during the course of the campaign, the JSOC and SDC enter an alliance, then the player is later informed that the SDC sent hundreds of drones to defend the Obama, and consequently Briggs was able to save the ship and its crew. Menendez uses the drones to stage an attack on Los Angeles during a meeting of G20 leaders, hoping to kill them and cause catastrophic damage to the global economy. Mason escorts the President of the United States to safety amidst the drone attacks.

Because of racism the roles of African Americans during World War 2 was downplayed and often not recognized. This is the story of The 761st Tank Battalion. Known as The Black Panthers. This division distinguished themselves and was often the spearhead of General Patton's 3rd Army. Their motto was Come Out Fighting. This video is dedicated to their valor and bravery. Mason llega con Menéndez al portaaviones USS Barack Obama, donde les espera el almirante Briggs. Menéndez es llevado abajo para ser interrogado, pero este solo quiere hablar con David Mason. En pleno interrogatorio, alguien comunica que unos cazas se aproximan al buque y Briggs ordena que Menéndez sea asegurado, pero este reduce a Salazar, noquea a Mason y escapa. Es entonces cuando los mercenarios de Menéndez abordan el Obama. Salazar se separa para ayudar al almirante Briggs y Mason parte a cortar los sistemas de comunicaciones de Menéndez. Briggs le dice a Mason que va a reiniciar los sistemas para no perder el control de toda la flota. Al llegar, en las cámaras observa a Briggs, pero Menéndez está justo detrás de la sala del servidor, esperando a que reinicie las defensas. Luego Salazar le pide a Menéndez que no mate a Briggs, y el jugador en el papel de Menendez puede dispararle y matarlo o dispararle en la pierna, entonces introduce su virus de celerio para infectar los archivos. Tras descubrir la traición de Salazar, Mason llega a la sala de mando y después se topa con Salazar, el cual se rinde, diciendo "Mañana será un día mejor para todos", si Harper aun esta vivo este mata sin pensar a Salazar. Mientras Mason acude a la cubierta superior, Menéndez ya ha escapado y controla todo el sistema de drones estadounidense.
