The agreements made late during World War 2 were soon to become obsolete when the USSR and the Allies couldn't agree on the economic future of Germany. After the US further alienated Joseph Stalin with the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, the decision was made to divide Germany. The Iron Curtain fell over Europe. East and West Germany would remain symbols of the balance of terror and completely opposite ideologies of the bipolar world during the Cold War for the next 40 years.

DARPA in November 2009 awarded Mustang Technologies a contract to integrate Iron Curtain with its Crosshairs counter-shooter system for tests on an MRAP. Cued by the corner-mounted Crosshairs' radar, an optical sensor classifies the incoming threat and selects the aimpoint. When the RPG is just inches from the vehicle, the roof-mounted countermeasure fires straight down, deflagrating the warhead before it can detonate.

Iron Curtain
The Iron Curtain was the physical boundary dividing Europe into two separate areas from the end of World War II in 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991. The term symbolized efforts by the Soviet Union to block itself and its satellite states from open contact with the west and non-Soviet-controlled areas. On the east side of the Iron Curtain were the countries that were connected to or influenced by the Soviet Union. On either side of the Iron Curtain, states developed their own international economic and military alliances:
Physically, the Iron Curtain took the form of border defenses between the countries of Europe in the middle of the continent. The most notable border was marked by the Berlin Wall and its Checkpoint Charlie which served as a symbol of the Curtain as a whole.

The agreements made late during World War 2 were soon to become obsolete when the USSR and the Allies couldn't agree on the economic future of Germany. After the US further alienated Joseph Stalin with the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan, the decision was made to divide Germany. The Iron Curtain fell over Europe. East and West Germany would remain symbols of the balance of terror and completely opposite ideologies of the bipolar world during the Cold War for the next 40 years.

It then goes on to compare general language abilities on opposite sides of the Iron Curtain, with comments on efforts in the West to learn Russian and the systematic translation of Russian work. In the end, author Christopher Hollings argues that physical accessibility was generally good in both directions, but that Western scientists were afflicted by greater linguistic difficulties than their Soviet counterparts whose major problems were bureaucratic in nature. Behind the Iron Curtain is a discontinued VHS/Beta/LaserDisc/VHD video by the English metal band Iron Maiden.The video features footage of the band on the road in Eastern Europe in 1984, performing concerts in Poland, Hungary, and Yugoslavia as part of the World Slavery Tour.The title refers to the fact that the band were touring inside the Iron Curtain ; unusual given the area's separation from the West due to the then-ongoing Cold War.Aside from two promotional videos from the album Powerslave, the video also contains two live tracks and interviews with band members.

Yet despite state control, some cultural industries flourished in the Soviet era, including animation. Drawing the Iron Curtain tells the story of the golden age of Soviet animation and the Jewish artists who enabled it to thrive. Art historian Maya Balakirsky Katz reveals how the state-run animation studio Soyuzmultfilm brought together Jewish creative personnel from every corner of the Soviet Union and served as an unlikely haven for dissidents who were banned from working in other industries. A LOOK BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN, BACK IN 1966
We visited at a time when contact with the West was severely restricted. Western goods including vehicles were not allowed to be sold there.Their own citizens were not allowed to leave the country! We were not allowed to take photos anywhere near borders or when our travelling Goverment guides in each country said no photos! We met some very nice people in all the countries even though at that time relationships between the East and West Governments were frosty!
