The Moscow–Washington hotline (formally known in the United States as the Washington-Moscow Direct Communications Link) is a system that allows direct communication between the leaders of the United States and the Russian Federation. This hotline was established in 1963 and links the Pentagon with the Kremlin (historically, with Soviet Communist Party leadership across the square from the Kremlin itself). Although in popular culture known as the "red telephone", the hotline was never a telephone line, and no red phones were used. The first implementation used Teletype equipment, and shifted to fax machines in 1986. Since 2008, the Moscow–Washington hotline is a secure computer link over which messages are exchanged by email.
Several people came up with the idea for a hotline. They included Harvard professor Thomas Schelling, who had worked on nuclear war policy for the Defense Department previously. Schelling credited the pop fiction novel Red Alert (the basis of the film Dr. Strangelove) with making governments more aware of the benefit of direct communication between the superpowers. In addition, Parade magazine editor Jess Gorkin personally badgered 1960 presidential candidates John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, and buttonholed the Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev during a U.S. visit to adopt the idea. During this period Gerard C. Smith, as head of the State Department Policy Planning Staff, proposed direct communication links between Moscow and Washington. Objections from others in the State Department, the U.S. military, and the Kremlin delayed introduction.
Lyrics: Sitting on a hillside Watching all the people die I'll feel much better on the other side I'll thumb a ride I believe in magic Why because it is so quick I don't need power when I'm hypnotized Look in my eyes What are you seeing (I see) How do you feel? I feel real phony when my name is Phil Or was that Bill? Life goes on here Day after day I don't know if I'm living or if I'm supposed to be Sometimes my life is so eerie And if you think I'm happy paint me (white) (yellow) I've been here once I've been here twice I don't know if the third's the fourth or if the The fifth's to fix Sometimes I deal with numbers And if you wanna count me Count me out I don't need the times of day Anytime with me's okay I just don't want you using up my time 'Cause that's not right They're locki...
Forever Changes is the third album by American rock band Love, released by Elektra Records in November 1967. It would be the final album by the original band, as subsequent albums featured leader Arthur Lee backed by a variety of new players. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Forever Changes 40th in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[4] The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. Love - The Red Telephone [Forever Changes] 1967 The paranoia of the 60's is beautifully realized in a lot of songs of the day and Love's "The Red Telephone" is no exception. Less specific than Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," "The Red Telephone" shows the sense of confusion, the possibility of the end of days and the apathy of the youth culture at the time are perfectly found on this song. The song can be found on the transcendent album Forever Changes. Just like Astral Weeks, Love's Forever Changes is something that will change you... forever. The album has a mystical psych-folk vibe with lots of strings and flamenco guitars. Arthur Lee's words are very poetic and lush with interesting images and even interesting structures. Words overlap to give more meaning and add another ...
LOVE Revisted play August and The Red Telephone - live at The Cheese And Grain in Frome, Somerset on 30th June 2016
You forget how iconic the red telephone boxes are till you see the tourists who gather around them in London.
Not all psychedelic music was fast, hard, wild, heavy or mind-blowing. Some of it was blissful, slow, meditative, beautiful and, yes ... dark. Such was the case with many of Arthur Lee's compositions, drawn from grim reality and not from pie-in-the-sky utopian dreams of peace and harmony. Well, what can one expect from a group that set up residence in Bela Lugosi's mansion. Forever Changes was Love's third album, released in November 1967. One of the better songs off the album, "The Red Telephone," is regarded as a classic among psychedelic songs of the period, especially due to the use of a string section, which also appears on most of the other tracks. To me it has much of the same beauty and gothic quality as the mellotron passages in "Tuesday Afternoon" by The Moody Blues ... I sometim...
Spoilers for Seasons 1-10! At first listen, you wouldn’t normally associate this song with the series, but somehow it works. Besides, when has classic rock not been a good thing where Supernatural is concerned? :p Made by a fan, this video falls under the fair use clause. No money was made nor did the content owners lose any. Entertainment purposes only. Don't sue me! If you like the song, please support the artist! Artist: Love Song: The Red Telephone Label: Rhino/Elektra Year: 1967 Also, I apologize for some of the dodgy video quality. I worked from multiple sources and some of them did not match up. I tried to make it work the best I could.

Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
When you call I feel so good
Wish you were livin' in my neighborhood
So you can hang up the phone and rush on over
Take up where we left, telephone in the cover
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line, yeah
Telephone love, you make my day every time
If anyone else could see me
They would never understand
I'm just living out my fantasy
Talk your love with my mind
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time, yeah
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
Telephone love
Telephone love
Telephone love
Telephone love
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time, yeah
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
Whatever you do, don't hang up, don't hang up
Just keep pouring it out till you fill my cup
I'm lost in you whenever you speak, hey
When you call my name, I feel so weak
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time
Telephone love, you sound so sweet on the line
Telephone love, you make my day every time, every time
(Telephone love)
Every time
Telephone lover, come back on the cover
(Telephone love)
Telephone love, you're so good to me
(Telephone love)
I need you desperately
