Award winning actor, Louis Gossett Jr. is recognized as one of the most respected and beloved actors on stage, screen and television. Off screen, he has spent his life as a social activist, educator, film producer and author trying to educate and enrich the lives of those around him.
Among Gossett’s many accolades are an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series for his portrayal of Fiddler in the historically groundbreaking ABC series “Roots” and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for “The Josephine Baker Story.”
In 1983, Gossett was the first African–American male to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable performance as drill Sergeant Emil Foley in “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
Gossett’s recent work includes “Book of Negroes," BET's six-part miniseries that follows a West African woman's long search for freedom after she is sold into slavery around the time of the American Revolution. The historical drama was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Limited Series.
Gossett is currently guest starring as Halle Berry’s father on the hit CBS television series “Extant,” which returns for a second season Summer 2015.
Previous films include, ”A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Deep,” “Skin Game” “Daddy’s Little Girl’s,” “The Grace Card,” “Enemy Mine,” “Iron Eagle 1-4” and “Don't Look Back: The Story of Leroy 'Satchel' Paige” among many others.
At age 17 Gossett won the prestigious Donaldson Award as the year’s best newcomer for the Broadway production of, “Take A Giant Step.”
Gossett is recognized as much for his humanitarian efforts as he is for his accomplishments as an actor. In 2006, Gossett founded The Eracism Foundation which is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to abolishing racism, violence, and ignorance. The foundation will eventually be organized around "Shamba Centers" in the heart of inner cities, places where children of all races can go after school to play sports, hang out, and learn about one another’s history and culture. The vision is to eradicate the systematic impacts of all forms of racism.
Louis Gossett, Jr. attended New York University on a drama and athletic scholarship,.He currently resides in Malibu, California.

Louis Gossett, Jr.
Louis Cameron Gossett, Jr. (born May 27, 1936) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his Academy Award-winning role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman, and his Emmy Award-winning role as Fiddler in the 1977 ABC television miniseries Roots. Gossett has also starred in numerous film productions including A Raisin In The Sun, Skin Game, Travels with My Aunt, The Laughing Policeman, The Deep, Jaws 3-D, Jaws III (1983),Wolfgang Petersen's Enemy Mine, the Iron Eagle series, Toy Soldiers and The Punisher, in an acting career that spans over five decades.
Early life and education
Gossett was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York, on May 27, 1936, to Hellen Rebecca (née Wray), a nurse, and Louis Gossett, Sr., a porter. He is an alumnus of Mark Twain Intermediate School 239 and Abraham Lincoln High School. His stage debut came at the age of 17, in a school production of You Can't Take It with You when a sports injury resulted in the decision to take an acting class. Polio had already delayed his graduation.

Entertainment Weekly (sometimes abbreviated as EW) is an American magazine, published by Time Inc., that covers film, television, music, Broadway theatre, books and popular culture.
Different from celebrity-focused publications like Us Weekly, People (a sister magazine to EW), and In Touch Weekly, EW primarily concentrates on entertainment media news and critical reviews. And unlike Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, which are aimed at industry insiders, EW targets a more general audience.
History
The first issue was published on February 16, 1990, and featured singer k.d. lang on its cover. The cover price was $1.95 (equivalent to $3.53 today) The title word entertainment was not capitalized on the cover until mid-1992 and has remained so since. By 2003, the magazine's weekly circulation averaged 1.7 million copies per week. In March 2006, managing editor Rick Tetzeli oversaw an overhaul of EW's graphics and layout to reflect a more-modern look.
Created by Jeff Jarvis and founded by Michael Klingensmith, who served as publisher until October 1996, the magazine's original television advertising soliciting pre-publication subscribers portrayed it as a consumer guide to popular culture, including movies, music, and book reviews, sometimes with video game and stage reviews, too. Keke Palmer discography
The discography of Keke Palmer, an American R&B singer-songwriter, consists of one studio album, one extended play, three mixtapes and seven singles. In 2005, Palmer signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Palmer released her debut album So Uncool on September 18, 2007. The album failed to chart on the US Billboard 200, but did chart at number 85 on the R&B chart. The album was preceded by the lead single "Keep It Movin'". In 2010, Palmer was signed by the Chairman of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine, and began working on an album.
In January 2011, Palmer released her first mixtape Awaken. The mixtape was officially released on January 10, 2011, for downloads on mixtape-downloading websites. The first and only single released from the mixtape was "The One You Call". A music video was also released for the song. In July 2012, Palmer released the single "You Got Me" featuring Kevin McCall. The video for the single was released on July 11, 2012. Palmer released a self-titled mixtape Keke Palmer on October 1, 2012. It includes her new singles "You Got Me" & "Dance Alone" which have already been released. On May 16, 2013, Keke Palmer released a video showing her recording and performing a cover of Alicia Keys song "If I Ain't Got You".

Iron Eagle
Iron Eagle is a 1986 American-Canadian action film directed by Sidney J. Furie and starring Jason Gedrick and Louis Gossett, Jr. While it received mixed reviews, the film earned US$24,159,872 at the U.S. box office. Iron Eagle was followed by three sequels: Iron Eagle II, Aces: Iron Eagle III and Iron Eagle on the Attack, with Gossett being the only actor to have appeared in all four films.
The basis of the fictional story in the film relates to real life attacks by the United States against Libya over the Gulf of Sidra, in particular the 1981 Gulf of Sidra incident.

Award winning actor, Louis Gossett Jr. is recognized as one of the most respected and beloved actors on stage, screen and television. Off screen, he has spent his life as a social activist, educator, film producer and author trying to educate and enrich the lives of those around him.
Among Gossett’s many accolades are an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series for his portrayal of Fiddler in the historically groundbreaking ABC series “Roots” and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for “The Josephine Baker Story.”
In 1983, Gossett was the first African–American male to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable performance as drill Sergeant Emil Foley in “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
Gossett’s recent work includes “Book of Negroes," BET's six-part miniseries that follows a West African woman's long search for freedom after she is sold into slavery around the time of the American Revolution. The historical drama was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Limited Series.
Gossett is currently guest starring as Halle Berry’s father on the hit CBS television series “Extant,” which returns for a second season Summer 2015.
Previous films include, ”A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Deep,” “Skin Game” “Daddy’s Little Girl’s,” “The Grace Card,” “Enemy Mine,” “Iron Eagle 1-4” and “Don't Look Back: The Story of Leroy 'Satchel' Paige” among many others.
At age 17 Gossett won the prestigious Donaldson Award as the year’s best newcomer for the Broadway production of, “Take A Giant Step.”
Gossett is recognized as much for his humanitarian efforts as he is for his accomplishments as an actor. In 2006, Gossett founded The Eracism Foundation which is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to abolishing racism, violence, and ignorance. The foundation will eventually be organized around "Shamba Centers" in the heart of inner cities, places where children of all races can go after school to play sports, hang out, and learn about one another’s history and culture. The vision is to eradicate the systematic impacts of all forms of racism.

A fortyish cancer-stricken, emaciated Frank Crosby (Louis Gossett Jr.) and his fifteen-year old son Clay (Robert Ri'chard), who is the healthful, youthful image of his father, are spending an afternoon enjoying the atmosphere of Venice Beach. They enter Oddities, a store where the gypsy woman owner gives them a pair of special wingtip shoes. Later that night in the hospital where Frank lay dying, he shares with Clay his memory of a postcard image: a gof course where people are playing and are leisurely sipping tea. Gossett’s recent work includes “Book of Negroes," BET's six-part miniseries that follows a West African woman's long search for freedom after she is sold into slavery around the time of the American Revolution. The historical drama was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Limited Series.
Gossett is currently guest starring as Halle Berry’s father on the hit CBS television series “Extant,” which returns for a second season Summer 2015.
Previous films include, ”A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Deep,” “Skin Game” “Daddy’s Little Girl’s,” “The Grace Card,” “Enemy Mine,” “Iron Eagle 1-4” and “Don't Look Back: The Story of Leroy 'Satchel' Paige” among many others.

In 2006, Gossett founded The Eracism Foundation which is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to abolishing racism, violence, and ignorance. The foundation will eventually be organized around "Shamba Centers" in the heart of inner cities, places where children of all races can go after school to play sports, hang out, and learn about one another’s history and culture. The vision is to eradicate the systematic impacts of all forms of racism.
Louis Gossett, Jr. attended New York University on a drama and athletic scholarship,.He currently resides in Malibu, California.

Award winning actor, Louis Gossett Jr. is recognized as one of the most respected and beloved actors on stage, screen and television. Off screen, he has spent his life as a social activist, educator, film producer and author trying to educate and enrich the lives of those around him.
Among Gossett’s many accolades are an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series for his portrayal of Fiddler in the historically groundbreaking ABC series “Roots” and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for “The Josephine Baker Story.”
In 1983, Gossett was the first African–American male to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable performance as drill Sergeant Emil Foley in “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
Gossett’s recent work includes “Book of Negroes," BET's six-part miniseries that follows a West African woman's long search for freedom after she is sold into slavery around the time of the American Revolution. The historical drama was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Limited Series.
Gossett is currently guest starring as Halle Berry’s father on the hit CBS television series “Extant,” which returns for a second season Summer 2015.
Previous films include, ”A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Deep,” “Skin Game” “Daddy’s Little Girl’s,” “The Grace Card,” “Enemy Mine,” “Iron Eagle 1-4” and “Don't Look Back: The Story of Leroy 'Satchel' Paige” among many others.
At age 17 Gossett won the prestigious Donaldson Award as the year’s best newcomer for the Broadway production of, “Take A Giant Step.”
Gossett is recognized as much for his humanitarian efforts as he is for his accomplishments as an actor. In 2006, Gossett founded The Eracism Foundation which is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to abolishing racism, violence, and ignorance. The foundation will eventually be organized around "Shamba Centers" in the heart of inner cities, places where children of all races can go after school to play sports, hang out, and learn about one another’s history and culture. The vision is to eradicate the systematic impacts of all forms of racism.
Louis Gossett, Jr. attended New York University on a drama and athletic scholarship,.He currently resides in Malibu, California.

Award winning actor, Louis Gossett Jr. is recognized as one of the most respected and beloved actors on stage, screen and television. Off screen, he has spent his life as a social activist, educator, film producer and author trying to educate and enrich the lives of those around him.
Among Gossett’s many accolades are an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor for a Single Appearance in a Drama or Comedy Series for his portrayal of Fiddler in the historically groundbreaking ABC series “Roots” and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for “The Josephine Baker Story.”
In 1983, Gossett was the first African–American male to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable performance as drill Sergeant Emil Foley in “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
Gossett’s recent work includes “Book of Negroes," BET's six-part miniseries that follows a West African woman's long search for freedom after she is sold into slavery around the time of the American Revolution. The historical drama was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Limited Series.
Gossett is currently guest starring as Halle Berry’s father on the hit CBS television series “Extant,” which returns for a second season Summer 2015.
