Texas /ˈtɛksəs/ (Spanish: Texas or Tejas [ˈtexas]) is a state in the United States of America. It is the second most populous and second largest state by area in the US. Geographically located in the south central part of the country, Texas shares an international border with Mexico to the south and borders the states of New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, Arkansas to the northeast, and Louisiana to the east. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles (696,200 km2) and a growing population of over 27.5 million residents (July 2015).
Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest in the United States, while San Antonio is the second largest in the state and seventh largest in the United States. Dallas–Fort Worth and Greater Houston are the fourth and fifth largest United States metropolitan statistical areas, respectively. Other major cities include Austin (the state capital) and El Paso. Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State to signify Texas as a former independent republic, and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. The "Lone Star" can be found on the Texan state flag and on the Texan state seal. The origin of the state name, Texas, is from the word, "Tejas", which means 'friends' in the Caddo language.
"Eastern District" or "East District" can refer to:

Court documents showed a federal judge on Friday dismissed a civil securities fraud case against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The ruling in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas marks a major victory for the Tea Party Republican. He has denied violating securities laws but still faces similar, though criminal, state-level charges. In April, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged Paxton over what the agency said was his role in a stock scam. The scam defrauded investors in a Texas-based technology company called Servergy Inc. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/Reuters/domesticNews/~3/L0k_I-IIPVw/us-texas-paxton-idUSKCN128030 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

Facts: The owner of a patent for a computer language, i4i Limited Partnership brought suit against Microsoft Corp., alleging that the custom XML editor in certain versions of Microsoft Word, Microsoft's word-processing software, infringed i4i's patent. The jury found Microsoft liable for willful infringement, rejecting the company's argument that the patent was invalid, and awarded $200 million in damages to i4i. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas denied Microsoft's motions for a new trial. And the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the district court order, finding that Microsoft needed to offer "clear and convincing evidence" to overcome the traditional presumption that patents approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office are valid.
