*Blood/Gore Warning* Sorry about the eye strain at the end! In hindsight I shouldn't have made it so extreme. Anyway here's a picture music video about one of my other faves, Longtail. Tried a few different things here!! Anyway obligatory explanation for the video in case it's hard to follow: Basically details Longtail's experience when Tigerclaw gets exiled, his apprentice Swiftpaw gets killed, Darkstripe gets exiled, etc. The events of the first series, basically. Come along for a 3rd person view of my first hike of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Hike date 6/17/16 Pinkham Notch - Tuckerman - Lion Head - Tuckerman - Mt. Washington Summit - Crawford Path - Davis Path - Boott Spur - Boott Spur Link - Tuckerman - Pinkham Notch
Join me for a winter ascent of Mt Washington, followed by some snowy hammock camping. GPS data at http://www.sintax77.com . For this trip, I'll be heading up to the White Mountains for one more winter backpacking trip before the season ends. This will also be my first attempt to climb Mt Washington in winter. Okay, climb may be a bit overzealous of a term, but it will be pretty aggressive compared to my other winter hikes. Which brings up an important topic - additional gear needed. I'll get to that a little later, but first lets take a look at where exactly I started off from and the general route I took. Full GPS track data for this trip can be downloaded on my website here: http://www.sintax77.com/trip-data/ For an easier to read, full trip report with maps and pictures and m...
Es ist die älteste Zahnradbahn der Welt - die "Cog Railway auf den Mt. Washington" in New Hampshire. Die Bahn entstand Ende der 60er Jahre des 19. Jahrhunderts.
Riding up Mt Washington in New Hampshire. June 2014
12% average grade, 7.6mi, 4600+ feet of climbing. August 15th, 2015.
Worlds First Mountain Climbing Cog Railway opened in 1869. (Trivia: It's called a "railway", not "railroad" since the track is less than 14 miles). Mount Washington Cog Railway ride in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The railway is 3-1/2 mile long, 3 miles of it on trestle. The average grade is one foot in four, or 25%; the steepest grade is 37.41% on Jacob's Ladder. This unigue railway has specially built steam locomotive with their horizontal boilers lower in front so as to make them level while on the mountain. Bio-Diesel locomotive engines have all but replaced just one of the Steam Locomotives in service today. The cog rail is bolted to the cross ties of the road, and into it play with perfect security the heavy toothed wheels under the locomotive engines. Located in The Heart o...
Mt. Washington SnowCoaches leave the base area of the Auto Road and Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center and climb up about 4.5 miles, or two thirds of the way to the summit. Upon arrival at the “Top of the Tour”, passengers are invited to exit the SnowCoach for a few minutes for photos and video opportunities before climbing back aboard for the downward journey back to the base. At times views can be breathtaking overlooking the protected Great Gulf Wilderness and the Presidential mountain range. At other times high winds and snow can be experienced allowing passengers to witness the extreme conditions which Mount Washington is so well known for. The Mt. Washington SnowCoach is a custom-designed tour vehicle which climbs up to tree-line on Mt. Washington (approximately 4,200 feet) for a one-o...
Alice and George hike to the summit of Mt. Washington via the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail with a stop at the Lakes of the Clouds hut where we met AT thru hiker Chuckles. We ride the Cog Railroad down.
This video shows footage of the steep portions of the winter Lion Head trail. If you've ever wondered what it's like to ascend this infamous trail you'll appreciate this video. However, this trail normally has more snow. It was very icy during this trip. There are pros and cons to each. If you want to skip to the spectacular views of Tuckerman Ravine you can fast forward to the 15:45 mark. What a beautiful day with my niece Jessica and friends Rob, Andy and Tracy. I hope you enjoy this video.
Face stain in the ceiling
Why does it keep saying,
"I don't have to see you right now"
"I don't have to see you right now"
Digging like you can bury
Something that cannot die
We could wash the dirt off our hands now
Keep it from living underground
Praise the summer goddess
You can tell a whole empire
"I don't have to see you right now"
"I don't have to see you right now"
