Belfast (/ˈbɛl.fɑːst/ or /ˈbɛl.fæst/; from Irish: Béal Feirste, meaning "mouth of the sandbanks") is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. Most of Belfast, including the city centre, is in County Antrim, but parts of East and South Belfast are in County Down. It is on the flood plain of the River Lagan. The city's motto is Pro Tanto Quid Retribuamus (roughly Latin for "what shall we give in return for so much").
By population before the 2015 council reform, Belfast was the 17th largest city in the United Kingdom and the second largest on the island of Ireland. It is the seat of the devolved government and legislative Northern Ireland Assembly. At the time of the 2011 census, the city of Belfast had a population of 286,000. With the 2015 council reform it is 333,871 and lies at the heart of the Belfast Urban area, which has a population of 483,418 and the Belfast Metropolitan Area, which had a population of 579,276 at the 2001 census. The larger urban zone, as defined by the European Union, had an estimated total population of 673,000 on 1 January 2012. Belfast was granted city status in 1888.

A bitchy, twenty-something hipster starts turning into a crazy cat lady. A man prepares to open a new nightclub while his shrieking she-beast of a boyfriend subjects him to a never-ending barrage of psychotically queeny remarks. A wandering Mormon goes bad. A happy couple's wedding takes a turn for the worse with the arrival of an evil photographer. An angry loner with mother issues goes off the deep end. A 33 year-old transsexual pimps herself out with a phone sex ad. A furious lesbian trashes a pizza restaurant and narrowly escapes being stabbed by a crazy gay customer. A man must decide whether or not his relationship with a screaming, rubber glove-obsessed boyfriend is healthy. Suspicion and intrigue breed when two ghostly drag queens entertain their zombie-like suitor. A frustrated driver flips out when he can't find a parking spot in Koreatown, Los Angeles. A naked white woman dances in the street for the amusement of a group of Asian girls.

"Fuck a Pope." Tension between the Protestants and Catholics are high in Belfast, Ireland. Often described as the European capitol of terrorism, troubles continue years after the Good Friday peace agreement. VICE headed over to Belfast, in the lead up to this year's Twelfth parade, and tensions were running higher than any period in recent memory: It was only a few months since a 25-year-old Catholic police officer was murdered by dissident republicans (to dissuade others from joining the force) and just weeks after altercations between nationalists and unionists in east Belfast ended in riots and multiple shootings, including a cameraman. What better time to explore Belfast and marinate in the divisive hate? To learn more about the conflict in Belfast, head over to: http://www.yout...
We start in bustling Belfast's City Hall and Ulster Museum, then head out to Northern Ireland's favorite resort: Portrush, along the Antrim Coast, where we taste-test Irish whiskey, scramble over some six-sided geology in the Giant's Causeway, drop in on a world-class golf course, and stomp our feet to some traditional music. © 2004 Rick Steves' Europe

Bendor and Jacky visit the Ulster Museum to investigate what have long been disregarded as low-value copies of works by Flemish artist Peter Breughel the Younger. They also visit the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont, in which a controversial painting once slashed with a knife is now kept in a room away from public view. The subject is believed to be William III and the Pope – these two characters in one picture would be guaranteed to rouse the passions on both sides of the sectarian divide. But has the painting been a case of mistaken identity? Bendor and Jacky investigate. Links: HOMEPAGE – TVDB

The story of HMS Belfast is one of the most dramatic naval stories of World War Two. When commissioned in 1938, the cruiser HMS Belfast was the most modern warship in Britain's Royal Navy. With rapid-firing six-inch calibre guns and high speed capability, she was designed to patrol the seaways of Britain's vast empire, and playing a part in the sinking of the German warship Scharnhorst during the Battle of North Cape in the Second World War.
I've got a ticket,
To the fast city,
Where the bells don't really ring,
Getting off the plane the cold air,
Rushes like bullets through my brain,
And I'm divided between penguins and cats,
But it's not about what animal youüve got,
It's about being able to fly,
It's about dying nine times,
Walked on Broadway,
Going up to falls,
With the old man I used to know,
The paintings on the walls of release,
Are colourful but they are no Matisse,
And I'm divided between penguins and cats,
But it's not about what animal you've got,
It's about being able to fly,
It's about dying nine times,
It's about being able to fly,
It's about dying nine times,
