They say that air travel is one of the safest forms of travel. Statistically speaking, it is. Far more people are killed in car accidents every year and each time you put on your seat-belt, although it may not feel like it, you are heading off a trip which is many times more dangerous. So why doesn’t it feel safer for most of us when we get in a plane? First, we are more used to driving. While we are more likely to die in a car crash the fact that we are in and around cars for much of our lives makes us more familiar and comfortable with them as a mode of transport. Airplanes, on the other hand, are a more foreign method of travel. They sound and smell different and place passengers in a much different environment for travel. The nature of passenger flight means that although it’s statistically safe, when something does go wrong it’s a headline making event because of the numbers of people involved.
If you’ve flown on more than a few flights there a chance that you had a moment that maybe caused you more than a little concern. Turbulence, bad visibility, a rough landing or a missed approach – These are all common things that can cause a brief scary moment for some. These pale in comparison to some of the more terrifying moments recorded in the air. From hijackings to mechanical failure to fire, some flights went from the routine to the extreme and will forever be remembered by their passengers as the scariest flights of their lives.

Well, there are a few airlines out there that have created such luxurious first class experiences that your typical first class experience on a domestic flight will feel like coach.

If you decide to cash in your life savings or use pretty much all of your frequent flyer miles, then you might have a shot at enjoying one of these fine first class airlines. But if you have a great paying job that allows you to enjoy the finer things in life, then this video can serve as a guide for your flying adventures. Flights
Flights are an English alternative/progressive rock band formed in May 2010 in Bristol. The band comprises Joel Pearce on vocals/guitars, Joe Newcombe on guitars/vocals, Dean Bowden on bass/vocals and Adam Cann on drums.
In describing their music, Cann has said "We’ve fallen into progressive rock – soundscapy too I think.” Flights cite their primary influences as Oceansize, Radiohead, Reuben and Yourcodenameis:milo. Flights have also described their style as "Some big guitars, some pretty guitars, irregular time signatures, harmonised vocals and a whole lotta groove."
History
Formation
Joe Newcombe, Adam Cann and Joel Pearce come from Thornbury, a market town in South Gloucestershire approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Bristol. From age 13, Newcombe and Cann had played together in various bands (Cradle Of Fluff, Alcoholic Spider). They met Pearce (then a member of Enigma Design) while playing in pubs in the Thornbury region. When Newcombe went to university he met Dean Bowden and subsequently Newcombe, Bowden and Cann went on to play together in a band called Just For Hustlers. Deciding they wanted to try something different, they then recruited Pearce (who had discussed starting a band with Cann during Friday drinking sessions) and thus completed the Flights line-up. Flights played their first gig in a small Bristol venue called The Louisiana debuting the tracks "Charity Calendars" and "The Mapmaker" among others.

The nature of passenger flight means that although it’s statistically safe, when something does go wrong it’s a headline making event because of the numbers of people involved.
If you’ve flown on more than a few flights there a chance that you had a moment that maybe caused you more than a little concern. Turbulence, bad visibility, a rough landing or a missed approach – These are all common things that can cause a brief scary moment for some. These pale in comparison to some of the more terrifying moments recorded in the air. From hijackings to mechanical failure to fire, some flights went from the routine to the extreme and will forever be remembered by their passengers as the scariest flights of their lives.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines ran scenic flights around Birmingham, UK to mark the end of an era. The one hour pleasure flights for enthusiasts ran on Saturday 21st February, Sunday 22nd February and Monday 23rd February 2014, with 3 flights running each day - 09:00, 12:00 and 15:00. I couldn't let this oppurtunity go, so I booked myself a window seat priced at £150 on the Sunday 12:00 flight. This video shows the whole flight; pre-boarding, outside shots, boarding, taxi, takeoff, the scenic flight, descent, landing and taxi back to the gate, with a quick look in the flight deck too. It marks the last such journey for the three-engine plane, which first went into service in 1971. Flat Earth (AE) Map = Southern Flights No Longer a Problem?
OK. Don't shoot me, but I've been reconsidering the Gleason's Standard Map, aka the Azimuthal Equidistant (Flat Earth) Map. Could it really be scientifically and practically accurate "As It Is?" Could it hold the key to solving the problem of the flights in the so called southern hemisphere? Could this be the piece TigerDan was missing when he set out to make his map? OK. Don't shoot me, but I've been reconsidering the Gleason's Standard Map, aka the Azimuthal Equidistant (Flat Earth) Map. Could it really be scientifically and practically accurate "As It Is?" Could it hold the key to solving the problem of the flights in the so called southern hemisphere? Could this be the piece TigerDan was missing when he set out to make his map? I am beginning to think so. I just threw this video together real quick, so please pardon any mistakes and the poor audio. Unfortunately, I didn't have my headset mic selected for audio on Google Hangout, so it grabbed the audio from my cheap webcam.
