Syringa vulgaris (lilac or common lilac) is a species of flowering plant in the olive family Oleaceae, native to the Balkan Peninsula, where it grows on rocky hills. This species is widely cultivated as an ornamental and has been naturalized in other parts of Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, etc.) as well as much of North America. It is not regarded as an aggressive species, found in the wild in widely scattered sites, usually in the vicinity of past or present human habitations.
Syringa vulgaris is a large deciduous shrub or multi-stemmed small tree, growing to 6–7 m (20–23 ft) high, producing secondary shoots ("suckers") from the base or roots, with stem diameters of up to 20 cm (8 in), which in the course of decades may produce a small clonal thicket. The bark is grey to grey-brown, smooth on young stems, longitudinally furrowed and flaking on older stems. The leaves are simple, 4–12 cm (2–5 in) and 3–8 cm broad, light green to glaucous, oval to cordate, with pinnate leaf venation, a mucronate apex and an entire margin. They are arranged in opposite pairs or occasionally in whorls of three. The flowers have a tubular base to the corolla 6–10 mm long with an open four-lobed apex 5–8 mm across, usually lilac to mauve, occasionally white. They are arranged in dense, terminal panicles 8–18 cm (3–7 in) long. The fruit is a dry, smooth brown capsule, 1–2 cm long, splitting in two to release the two winged seeds.
"Lilac Wine" is a song written by James Shelton (lyrics and music) in 1950. It was introduced by Hope Foye in the short-lived theater musical revue, Dance Me a Song. The song has since been covered by many famous artists including Eartha Kitt, Nina Simone, Elkie Brooks, John Legend, Jeff Buckley, Jeff Beck, Miley Cyrus and The Cinematic Orchestra.
The lyrics form a narrative in which the narrator recounts his/her heartache at losing a lover and taking solace from wine made from a lilac tree. In short, the song focuses on the blissful oblivion achieved by becoming intoxicated. The inspiration was taken from a line in the 1925 novel Sorrow in Sunlight (published in America as Prancing Nigger) by Ronald Firbank. In Chapter IV the main character, Miami Mouth, circulates through a party "offering a light, lilac wine, sweet and heady".
"Lilac Wine" has been covered by a number of artists including Eartha Kitt (1953), Judy Henske on her debut, self-titled album (1963), Nina Simone on her album Wild Is the Wind (1966), Elkie Brooks (1978) and Jeff Buckley on his album Grace (1994). The Jeff Buckley version was used as background music in the 2008 French film Tell No One. In 2010 it appeared on the Jeff Beck album Emotion & Commotion with vocals by Imelda May. It was released as a single in 2010 by American singer Jordyn Jackson.
In religious terms, divinity or godhead is the state of things that come from a supernatural power or deity, such as a god, supreme being, Creator-God or spirits, and are therefore regarded as sacred and holy. Such things are regarded as "divine" due to their transcendental origins, and/or because their attributes or qualities are superior or supreme relative to things of the Earth. Divine things are regarded as eternal and based in truth, while material things are regarded as ephemeral and based in illusion. Such things that may qualify as "divine" are apparitions, visions, prophecies, miracles, and in some views also the soul, or more general things like resurrection, immortality, grace, and salvation. Otherwise what is or is not divine may be loosely defined, as it is used by different belief systems.
The root of the word "divine" is literally "godly" (from the Latin deus, cf. Dyaus, closely related to Greek zeus, div in Persian and deva in Sanskrit), but the use varies significantly depending on which deity is being discussed. This article outlines the major distinctions in the conventional use of the terms.
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.
The Divine Move (Hangul: 신의 한 수; RR: Sin-ui Hansu) is a 2014 South Korean action/noir film about a former baduk player's quest for revenge.
The title refers to a particularly brilliant move, considered to be a "once in a lifetime" experience for only the best professionals, in the board game baduk (called Go in the West) which often turns what was a losing or close game into a winning effort at the most crucial moment.
Professional baduk player Tae-seok loses a high-stakes game to infamous underground gambler Sal-soo, and ends up framed for the murder of his own brother and locked up in prison. He vows revenge and trains ferociously. After serving his seven-year sentence, he gets in touch with his brother's former associate "Tricks," hermit and blind master player "The Lord," and skillful junkyard owner Mok-su; together, they begin formulating a plan to get back at Sal-soo and his men. Tae-seok slowly penetrates Sal-soo's inner circle and his gambling joint, and eliminates Sal-soo's men one by one. But Sal-soo discovers Tae-seok's true identity and engages him in one final game that will seal the fates of the two men involved.

Lilacs are one of the most evocative of flowers, probably due to the intoxicating aroma when in bloom. There is truly nothing like a large planting of Lilacs to induce adolescent behavior, including the shedding of garments, throwing of frisbees, playing of hacky-sack and all sorts of other activities. The Latin name for this plant is Syringa vulgaris. The genus name is from the Greek work for 'pipe,' syrinx. This refers to the hollow stems. Of course this is also the source of the word 'syringe.' The species name is Latin for 'common,' not 'vulgar.' Although some definitions of these words in English coincide, we often think of 'vulgar' as something a bit worse than 'common.' There is nothing vulgar about Lilac, except when it is beset with powdery mildew, but more on that later. ...
http://springhillnursery.com/lilac-plants/c/1768/pc/10/ In this video, Scott from Spring Hill Nurseries talks about lilac care. Its springtime at the test gardens in Tipp City, OH, and our lilacs are looking great. The aroma fills the garden with a pleasant, memorable scent. Lilacs are almost maintenance-free, but site selection is very important when first planting your lilacs.
