Hotmood drops in for the latest installment of our exclusive mix series to lay down the funk vibes with a heavy dose of his signature sounds. Hotmood caught a lot of attention with his debut 12″ for the Chicago imprint, Tugboat Edits, just earlier this year and we just couldn’t resist inviting him to do a mix for us. Low-slung and sample-heavy is what you’ll get when to tap into Hotmood… his skills in the studio are matched only by his skills behind the decks as this mix clearly displays. Dig in!

This isn’t normally the type of music I’m really into but I’m really loving the whimsical vibes from Betty Moon’s “Life Is But A Dream.” Moon has a voice that’s irresistibly delicate and when asked about her new single, the Toronto born and L.A. based artist spoke of her inspiration behind the release and said “Life is But a Dream capsulizes my new found excitement and inspiration that I adopted once I moved from Toronto to Los Angeles and literally dug my toes into the sands at Surfriders Beach.  It was a moment of clarity and simplicity that I wanted to sing about“.
Follow Betty Moon and check out the track below:

LA based rappers Gavlyn and Blimes Brixton have teamed up with some of our favorite producers at Bad Taste, Walter Ego and Lean Low among others, to drop a stunning release called the Dodgy EP. We’re especially excited to premiere a track off the EP, called “Whip Dip Cherry,” which is guaranteed to bring you some much needed energy on this Wednesday. The energetic piece blends LA swagger wth UK’s exciting electronic music/bass scene and combines to become a massive force to be reckoned with.

The entire project will be available October 28th on Peach House/Bad Taste. Pre-order the EP here.

Kaytranada with a nice little dj friendly edit of that amazing Solange track “Cranes In The Sky”.

“I couldn’t help it and i can’t deny how good it sounds. this is just an edit to play on my dj sets, and i played it once and everybody wanted it right away. Honestly i was gonna wait to see if Solange or her team or whoever works for her wouldve ask me to do an offical remix so if they still want to, i could make it sound better than that version but ohhhhh, what the hell….”

You know how Los Angeles based producer/dj Bobby Nourmand has been responsible for some seriously addictive and soulful deep house gems during 2016, well it’s about time for another one. “D E E P In N Y” is a a reworking of his summer smash track “DEEP” and showcases swerving keys, rapping courtesy of New York based artists D.O.C. and Goodmorning and a dark, rolling bassline.

I don’t know much about Naderi but his remix of Flume and Vic Mensa‘s “Lose It” is pure fuego. While the Australian producer made a name for himself working behind the scenes as an audio engineer for fellow Aussie artists Flume, What So Not, and Carmada, Naderi’s endeavors as a solo artist are catching ears across the industry. I’ve been told that this style of music called future bass or melodic bass but quite frankly, I just know that it’s uplifting, shows off a fair amount of creativity, and it’s very well-produced – Can’t wait to hear more from this guy.
