Chicago (i/ʃᵻˈkɑːɡoʊ/ or /ʃᵻˈkɔːɡoʊ/) is the third most populous city in the United States. With over 2.7 million residents, it is the most populous city in the state of Illinois and the Midwest. The Chicago metropolitan area, often referred to as Chicagoland, has nearly 10 million people and is the third-largest in the U.S. Chicago is the seat of Cook County.
Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837, near a portage between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed, and grew rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century. The city is an international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation: O'Hare International Airport is the busiest airport in the world when measured by aircraft traffic; it also has the largest number of U.S. highways and rail road freight. In 2012, Chicago was listed as an alpha global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and ranked seventh in the world in the 2014 Global Cities Index. As of 2014, Chicago had the third largest gross metropolitan product in the United States at US$610.5 billion.
Reuben Garrett Lucius "Rube" Goldberg (July 4, 1883 – December 7, 1970) was an American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor.
He is best known for a series of popular cartoons depicting complicated gadgets that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways, similar to Heath Robinson devices in the UK, as well as the Storm P devices in Denmark. Goldberg received many honors in his lifetime, including a Pulitzer Prize for his political cartooning in 1948 and the Banshees' Silver Lady Award in 1959.
Goldberg was a founding member and the first president of the National Cartoonists Society, and he is the namesake of the Reuben Award, which the organization awards to the Cartoonist of the Year. He is the inspiration for various international competitions, known as Rube Goldberg Machine Contests, which challenge participants to make a complicated machine to perform a simple task.
Reuben Lucius Goldberg was born July 4, 1883, in San Francisco, California, to Jewish parents Max and Hannah (Cohen) Goldberg. He was the third of seven children, three of whom died as children (older brother Garrett, younger brother Walter, and younger sister Lillian also survived).

Discover the windy city with exploratory timelapse of Chicago. All places in video found here: https://roadtrippers.com/trips/one-day-in-chicago/5518076 Our Adventure Photographer/Timelapse Videographer, Joel Schat (http://joelschat.com ), was in the Chicago area. "I wanted to show off the top things that I would see and do if I only had one day to see the city. Of course I had a week to make all of the places look as awesome as possibly but it is definitely do able to hit all of these spots in one day! I got real...

http://www.Tiege.com Private Label vs. Custom Big news! Tiege Hanley’s prototype samples are being shipped to Atlanta, Chicago, and New York! The news has inspired this private label versus custom topic. Private Labeling Beginning with an example, a company develops a razor blade. The company wants to make inexpensive razor blades to sell to other companies who can, in turn, sell with their own label as their own line or product. This product is private label and what all discount razor companies are doing. One manufacturer sells super cheap razor blades to discount razor companies. Variations may include a lubricating strip, an additional razor, or different style handles. Name an industry or product, and private label options are available. The following are some upsides and do...

The Bulls are trading point guard and former MVP Derrick Rose to the Knicks in a blockbuster five-player deal, according to the Tribune’s K.C. Johnson and The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Chicago is shipping Rose, young wing Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick to New York in exchange for big man Robin Lopez, guard Jerian Grant and veteran point guard Jose Calderon. Rose, 27, was the hometown hero whom the Bulls took first overall in the 2008 draft. By his third year, he set the goal of winning the MVP, then did so with a brilliant 2010-’11 campaign in which he became the youngest player in league history to win the award. Rose’s career arc changed in April 2012, when he tore his left ACL on a drive to the basket in the playoff opener for the top-seeded Bulls. He was never the ...
"No. 1 question, 'What's going on here?' ... It's a big shipping container with a weird awning. A bunch of different kind of people on bikes," Bronzeville Bike Box Manager Samantha Scipio said. The Bronzeville Bike Box is kind of hard to miss. It's a makeshift bike shop on the Chicago's South Side. "That's the initial reaction, then once they see what it is they're like, 'Oh, I get it. I've never seen anything like that around here,'" Scipio said. It's in a Chicago neighborhood where the median household income is less than $17,000 and more than 60 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. "The South Side is not the city. People don't consider it to be the city. These are people just like everybody else. We're people just like everybody else. That divide is the bigges...
I made this quick video of me seeing Germany's cruise ship, Hamburg, in person as she was docked on her 16-day cruise from Montreal to Chicago, carrying hundreds of European passengers. Knowing that she docked at my current location near Milwaukee, WI, for the first time, I figured I would surprise you all by filming this moment when I see how this ship arrived Monday morning. Hope you enjoy the atmosphere!
This is a list of notable pigs, hogs, or wild boars. In 1784-5 an unnamed pig was exhibited in London under the title The Learned Pig. The pig was said to be able to spell words and solve arithmetical problems. Later Learned Pigs were exhibited under the name Toby, and were said to be able to read minds. In 1859, an unnamed British-owned pig wandered into Lyman Cutlar's potato patch on San Juan Island, Washington, and was shot, thus setting off a cold war known as the Pig War. In March 1901, an article appeared in the Rushville, Illinois newspaper, the Rushville Times, telling of the slaughter of a 1,255 pound hog. This article was later printed in the Schuyler County, Illinois historical newsletter The Schuylerite 14:1 : ""Curly Boy Slaughtered" The above caption may appear...

Pretty teeth scrapy clean with a wind-up machine
Im feeling very striking, its taken to my liking
Its a fine man who cups his breath
with a will to please
Wipy hand across the blazer
No-one here makes a sound
Standing up or sitting down
We grin like alligators
assist with apparatus
Theres a strange feeling in my mind
and the room's too warm
and lit with MacDonalds lighting
And the tool the tool forever
falling down planes against the grain
of the wood of the box for my soul
and my aching heart
The tool forever falling down planes again and (x4)
all of the noise takes me to the ouside where theres all
creations joining in celebrating happiness and joy
all around the world
on land and in the sea
