The Brangelina divorce song

US country star Melissa Etheridge found herself wrapped up in the PR of the Brangelina divorce, so she decided to write a song about it.

The I'm The Only One singer appeared on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM radio show on Monday and criticised Jolie's handing of her divorce from Brad Pitt.

Etheridge and Pitt were friends more than a decade ago when he was married to his first wife, Jennifer Aniston. Etheridge said she has not seen him since his marriage to Jolie, whom she has never met.

"It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it's being done," Etheridge said on the radio show. "There's a way to be. I've gone through family courts."

Etheridge says following her appearance she received a call and "subtle warning" from Jolie's crisis management expert, Judy Smith - the same "fixer" who inspired Kerry Washington's character Olivia Pope in the drama Scandal.

She addressed the "warning" when speaking to Cohen again on his television show, Watch What Happens Live, on Wednesday.

"There are people whose job it is to fix things for celebrities," Etheridge said.

"The Olivia Pope of Team Angelina," Cohen specified.

She then pulled out her guitar and started singing Fixer Blues, the song she wrote for the Brangelina breakdown, with a clear message for Smith and Co.:

"My opinion is mine and you can take that and a dime and have a good time on your Google search. Yeah, so, fixer, I hope you understand to scandalise was never my plan," she sang.

Jolie has brought out the big guns in her divorce with Pitt, also hiring celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.

She has sought physical custody of their three biological children - Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight, and their three adopted children - Maddox, 15, from Cambodia; Pax, 12, from Vietnam; and Zahara, 11, from Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, Pitt's alleged alcohol consumption, marijuana smoking, anger issues and bad parenting methods are being blamed for their marriage breakdown.

Etheridge's Fixer Blues in full:

"Oh, well I woke up this morning / To a subtle warning / That had my mind rockin' / Uh, seems like I said some things / About an old, old, old friend / That's got some people talking / Well, hmm, now / I know broken hearts / A thing or two about divorce / I been there before once ... OK, twice / And I have not seen my friend in over 10 years / And I swear I have never, ever, ever met his wife / I tell you what / I ain't picking no fight / None of my business who's wrong or who's right / Anyway, that's for sure / My opinion is mine / And you can take that and a dime and have a good time on your Google search / Yeah, so, fixer, I hope you understand / To scandalise was never my plan / Reminiscing, I was flowing / I was just hanging with my good friend, Andy Cohen / Talkin' about our spouses / In our own glass houses / So the moral of this story is / Divorce is a bitch and nobody wins / Let's not do unto others, and please forgive us our sins / Life is too hard, anyway / So, when you're chatting with Andy/ You better watch what you say."
