It may not be Halloween yet, but a bunch of terrifying clowns have been roaming around Mandurah, scaring the locals.
The clown craze terrorising the United States finally hit Western Australia - and Victoria - this week, with clown groups sprouting across Facebook.
In groups such as Clown Purge Perth and Perth Clown Attack, allegedly terrifying clowns plot their next appearances and ask residents where would they like them to show up next.
Clown sightings have been reported by Mandurah residents around the eastern foreshore, Mandjar Square and driving along Murdoch Drive in recent days.
And locals have taken to social networks to warn neighbours.
"Just a warning for parents with little Kids you might want to not take them out this weekend with all this stupid pathetic clown prank happening not that it should stop people from doing family outings but just for safety, I was at Mandurah performing arts tonight watching my friend in Footloose the musical when 3 people dressed as clowns were walking along the foreshore scared a lot of young kids and families and a lot of adults and teens! [sic]," a resident wrote on a local Facebook group.
"There was also two spotted standing near the cinemas.
"Hoping this stunt dies down soon!
"Oh and people who think its funny to go out and 'Clown hunt' stop because its only encouraging them! [sic]."
Residents have also created a Mandurah Clown Sighting Facebook group to report clowns in the area.
Creepy clowns wandering around trying to lure children into the woods were first reported in August in South Carolina, US.
However, the clown hysteria spread across the US quickly, with sightings reported in the states of North Carolina, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Alabama and New York.
The frenzy has lead to several people charged with felony, a Connecticut school banning clown costumes and students from the Pennsylvania State University organising massive clown hunts sparking fear among clown professionals.
Mandurah police advised residents to call police on 131444 if they feel threatened.
