NAMPA: SWK Anglican Diocese consecrate new bishop
WALVIS BAY, 07 MAY (NAMPA) - Reverend Canon Luke Lungile Pato was consecrated as the 11th Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Namibia here on Saturday. Pato, a South African citizen, took over from Bishop Nathaniel Nakwatumbah, who retired in 2015 before passing away in March this year. The Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) made the decision to appoint Pato after none of the three Namibian candidates could obtain a two-third majority to get the position during an election at Okahandja in July 2015. 11th Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Namibia here on Saturday.
Pato, a South African citizen, took over from Bishop Nathaniel Nakwatumbah, who
retired in 2015 before passing away in March this year.
The Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) made the decision to appoint Pato
after none of the three Namibian candidates could obtain a two-third majority to get
the position during an election at Okahandja in July 2015.
The candidates were Rev Canons Nangula Kathindi, Anna-Liisa Nghifitikeko, and Lukas
